GG ez at the end of a 55 minute game feels like shit.

ApexInTheCircle··80 votes·6,675 views

This is reportable right? I mean it just feels like shit, was a fantastic game up until that point.

For reference I don't believe I've ever said GG ez to the enemy team because I'm not a shit human being.

really i could swear that most of my allies sign up to surrender games.

If it was easy it wouldn’t have taken them 55 minutes

Yea, It's harrasment.

Why would you report it?

Yeah it stings for a bit, but then you're done and up to the next game.

No reason to report someone for that.

Maybe if they do get banned for it, they'll learn not to spit at their opponent's face after an hour long match.

GG EZ does not equate to spitting in someones face regardless. Explain to me how says "gg ez" makes a "fantastic" game go to "horrible" game.

Minarde2 votes

Imagine you've just won against someone in a game, not necessarily League. Could be baseball, chess, MMA, a race, whatever. Rather than, for instance, shaking their hand and acknowledging the effort both sides put into the match, you instead opt to belittle your opponent. It's not "just trash-talk," and you're not "trying to gain a mental advantage." The match is over. You're just being a dick.

That's what "gg ez" is.

Yaśuo Main2 votes

belittle is to make someone feel irrelevant. How is that the same as trash talk? trash talk is boastful commentary made to intimidate an opponent. belittling is NOT what "gg ez" is. even worse, when a 55 minute game ends with "gg ez" do you not think its sarcasm? also, is "gg ez" in anyway directly towards a certain person. NO. You don't know what trash talk is.

Vlaedon2 votes

Given how often it is said in an negative and belittling manner the likelihood that this is an exception where it is meant as a halfhearted joke is minimal; If that was the case the delivery was lackluster at best and it fell crudely on the audience and left a sour note on the experience. I'll not deny that it can be said in jest but perhaps it is wiser to save that for more familiar company with whom you can more accurately measure the needed tact.

Alot of the more aggressive trash talk is insulting and belittling but not all of it, trashtalk is very broad but mainly falls into two categories boastful and belittling but certainly both are trash talk; Perhaps it would be better if in the case of the latter that were not so but it is.

^ This. Saying GG EZ at the end of a game is essentially spitting in your opponents face. Imagine if Olympic athletes did that, they'd get benched if not removed from competing forever. It's not cool what so ever.

Attticus Finch14 votes

I cant imagine what its like being so incredibly sensitive that some scrub smack-talking you over the internet is enough to send you spiraling into depression.

Like, how do you survive in the real world? If you're walking down the street and a homeless guy calls you an asshole do you just start weeping right there on the spot? You call the police on them? How do these people survive a day without breaking down?

It must be equivelent to those people who are allergic to everything like bubble boy. How horrifying.

Jinzo Torrance12 votes

I can't even comprehend how can some people get so frustrated about exactly two letters being typed by a complete stranger on the internet, like, do you value others opinions that much?

ChaddyFantome12 votes

While people that fo that are pretty petty, i find people that get THIS offended by ot just as if not more petty... Get yourself some thicker skin TahmKench [slayer-jinx-unamused]

FourVsFive11 votes

its so cliche at this point that i do not know how people who are not new to gaming get offended in any way. Its a joke meme by now to say ez. If so easily offended by 2 letters id be muting every one in every game then.

ZeeWolfZ11 votes

The reason many of you sit in Low Elos is because you are oversensitive. Another reason why our generation is called: Snowflake Generation.

Before you start attacking me, hear me out.

In higher elo, everyone is mean. Everyone loses their shit, but this is what stress in a competitive atmosphere. The real world is no different. If everytime you cried because you had a busy week and your boss was upset with your performance, then you wouldn't do well at your work.

Stress is expected and people get stressed. "GG EZ" is just a combination of letters that YOU gave meaning to. You gave it value and you chose to feel because of it. Ignore it and move on. Life doesn't backtrack, it keeps moving forward.

So should you.

Good Luck everyone on your climb.

AgentBlack8 votes

You don't have to take offense to know something is offensive. Sensitivity doesn't come into it. We Snowflakes just see no reason to tolerate pointless disrespect like "GG EZ" because it lessens the competitive experience for everybody.

The only time you are allowed to say GG ez is at the end of a really really long game where you went 0/17/8.

same, but someone confirmed that saying "ez" is adapting into harassment for the System, since it learns from the things players report as Toxic for them.

So if i report enough people for saying mia, eventually it can be reportable? Thats pretty stupid a systen.

sir d wreck5 votes

If you started doing that the only thing that would happen is the system would flag your reports as worthless so your reports wouldn't do anything.

The only way for something like your example to work would be if huge groups of people reported people for MIAs. But that won't happen because there will never be enough people to report for something silly like that.

Yeah, it’s unsportsmanlike. Imagine saying that with a straight and serious face to the other team after a traditional sports match. Everyone would think you were a jerk, and there could be consequences like getting benched, banned, or just left out.

it does, league players are just super easily offended.

HarrisonOwns6 votes

Example of trash talk:

"Nice flash! LOL"

Example of you being trash:

"That game was too easy. You're trash." (aka "ggez")

Ifneth4 votes

Sure didn’t happen when I played sports, though not organized basketball or tackle football. In pick up games, everyone just had fun and cracked jokes. In organized play, the only thing we ever said to the other team was “Good game” at the end.

I don’t know where this idea of trash talk being part of any sport comes from, especially if it’s as mean-spirited as “GG EZ” after a long game.

y0r1ck1 votes

Bro where I played bball, trash talk was only second in importance to how well you could play.

Ifneth2 votes

I doubt the point was to actually hurt people’s feelings, though. The whole point of saying GGEZ is to make the other person feel like their performance was worthless. That’s just mean.

NuckaChucka2 votes

I believe getting killed over and over and losing the game makes you feel like crap more than some random on the internet saying ggez. lol Should we put like a 2 kill limit in lane to keep people from feeling like crap?

I played soccer and there was a lot of trash talk. From calling out who you were marking before kick off. "Hey I got this Harry Potter looking MFer" lol or if it was to get in their head when they had the ball. "stop going right... your garbage... do you have a left foot?... You will never get by me" It's to get in peoples head to make them lose focus on the team game. Make them be more concerned with over coming you and not the actual game.

I don't know if my point matters. But I have seen great players fail to lesser players because they let the opponent get in their head. A big part of sports\games is psychological.

I guess ggez is after the game is over tho. So I guess it just depends if you are mature enough to handle some random person on the internet saying mean things at that point.

It does, but it also gets punished. There are lines that shouldn't be crossed.

Talking smack about a specific play qualifies as fine, but cross the line into demeaning the person themselves and you get the boot.

As a kid I've seen players get red cards for not shaking hands at the end of a match. And that was at the "anyone who signs up for the season can play" level.

So at the very least, the guy in charge of making sure everyone follows the rules would.

According to FIFA rules you can't actually get a straight Red Card for this and any youth league that would try to do this should be called the Snowflake leagues.

Ifneth4 votes

Or, just the Youth League.

In professional association football, if the referee heard a player gloating that the game was “easy” when passing the other team to shake hands, then the ref would probably send him off. The coach and the owner would be furious.

Not to mention that, in game, the player would receive a caution for showing “a lack of respect for the game”. If he kept doing it, then he would be disobeying the referee and get dismissed.

Kanzler8 votes

Are you saying it wasn't easy for them? Maybe you dont know if they just wanted to win slowly or handicap themselves.

It's awfully rude of you to assume their situation and you should be banned for being such a jerk, OP!

Mathix8 votes

It's usually just the butthurt person that went 4/12 and got carried by their team that puts that. Ignore it and/or report it and move on.

I just got back from Pokémon Regional Championship in Collinsville Ill. I played the TCG (Trading card game).

All matches are a best of 3, last about 50 minuites total. At the end of every single match, we shake hands and say good game. I wish League was similar. Damn internet.

koshkyra7 votes

So fucking tired of people saying "lul its just a word grow up and stop crying over everything" because its actually way more than just a word and the people who say this are probably the same people who spam "ggez" just for the sake of getting negative reactions out of people because theyre a shit human being.

+1 for reasonable human

SpiritOfOdysseus7 votes

Tbh human decency shouldn't have to be asked for. But when youre saying "ggez" AND spamming mastery like a child trying to tilt your enemies than you don't deserve honor 2+.

There are exceptions tho. Like in ARAM when on a team with a heavy handicap (anyone without range/sustain/cc/stats) I'm forced to sit under turret vs feeding the enemy. So well yeah ill smack talk them especially if they have more than 1 S tier champ usually with an epic skin, why? Because ARAM accounts don't deserve my otherwise chill persona. Sorry!

GôdÌy2 votes

If you think saying ggez and spamming mastery is childish then i wish you good luck in the real world buddy. Maybe mature and don't let small things others do bother you so much?

Don't call me buddy, I'm not your "buddy" nor your dog to talk down to. Youre one of kids who do it- It's okay I understand your need to feel precious.

But youre part of the overall problem. This isn't the real world. It's a game, just like you said. I'd love for the quality of the community to improve as a whole but it's that attitude RIGHT there that ruins it for many people. People like you I avoid like the plague as I'm sure most people do. Being one of those perfect passive trolls who has honed their ability to uniquely express their disdain for anyone they disagree with and does no wrong in ones own eyes, is quick to cut down anyone that challenges your beloved self-worth. I wish you luck in finding anyone worth a grain of salt willing to put up with it. But alas birds of a feather flock together, so I'm sure you'll find someone with the same pestilent personality as you.

Btw go ahead and login to your alt "Bard"(who, oddly puts out the same hasty hostile aura in their words as you) to agree with yourself, lol you can win in your own fantasy all you want to because I've already said what I need to say and I will have the final words in that.

Peace

Vlaedon7 votes

Wow, well I didn't expect to see people defending toxicity in here. Albeit minor amounts of it; the issue here is that "ggez" or any form thereof is unsportsmanlike conduct in any situation online or IRL as there is no interpretation of the comment that casts either party in a good light. As for how people should have thicker skin? Yeah, maybe so but that doesn't change the fact that it is not correct behavior. The "it doesn't bother me so its fine." mentality is exceedingly selfish in a community as other people may not. Perhaps they are dealing with IRL issues ( deaths, debt, ect.) and are playing LOL with some friends to de-stress or any number of other reasonable situations a person may not be in top form to muster their thick skin. Now certainly there are people out there that are entirely to fragile and they will need to learn to deal with that before life kicks them in the arse but this effort to stamp out unsportsmanlike conduct in our community is not catering to the whines of fragile souls but a stern retort to the arrogant and toxic.

Kinda like when you have a dumb pet that messes up the furniture and you spray it with water from a water bottle.

I remember riot said saying ez is bannable. What a joke.

Tokogawaruf13 votes

Its not about saying it once and getting instantly Permabanned, its about saying it, like, every 3 Game or so, constantly harassing the Enemy with it, until you get Chat restricted for it, or if you continue ,banned.

Disrespecting the Actions of 5 other Players after a Game is not a joke tho
