WW hit too hard

you nerfed WWs challenging smite/devourer/ ult combo with the itemization. that i expected and approve of (cept that it nerfs my kayle jung too QQ)

but nerfing his ults base damage and the duration of his w? this seems like overkill, and probably kills any chance of playing ww top anymore.

They intended it to be overkill, rather than underkill. They would rather buff him back up after being super weak (or get his rework out) than have to keep tickling him lower each patch. He is still going to be a sustain god in the new jungle, he will just not be one-shotting people as a tank. Now he just has to build more than one damage item to be an assassin.

EDIT: CONFIRMED Riot's autocorrect system has a dirty mind, it auto corrected one-shotted into one-****ted

Don't expect any WW buffs in 2014/15. Maaaybe 2016 but it isn't certain. I heard lots of things about reworking WW. So i think he'll be UP till rework hits live :/

But he isn't gonna be UP. I don't think everyone realizes that just because his ult gave him huge burst while tanky, that that wasn't all he had. He still has godlike jungle sustain from his passive, and his team utility and chasing power are still there (the real strength of his ult is the suppression, not the damage). He is also not going to be hurt extraordinarily hard by the items nerfs either, because everybody else is also getting hit by the item nerfs. Every other person who uses Devourer will get toned back a bit, and every champ who used Skirmishers will get toned back a bit (skirmishers will actually be even stronger outside of situations like WW's ult, meaning that he can now benefit more from just AAing somebody who he tagged with it). Now if WW wants to pop squishes with his ult, he just needs more than item 3718 by itself to do it.

Everything depend on players point of view. Some will say he's UP, some he's still OP.

Personally for my playstyle (reckless R smashing) it's more of a UP situation.

I'd say his damage nerf will be covered by wits end. But he'll be just lil bit different from what he used to be (at least for me)

meanwhile, LeeSin item 2049 item 3143 1k burst

Cuz Riot will never nerf anything meaningful about that guy after they took away the AS slow.

WW is a special case where its better for him to be undertuned rather than overtuned. No one can argue that he's not a low skill, one trick pony champion. He shouldn't be allowed to reach the same or higher level of power than other champions without putting more effort into it.

Warwick was never the problem. The new jungle makes it very hard to survive (for multiple reasons). When you combine devourer with Warwick's sustain, you have someone who can pretty much jungle forever. But this is the way he's always been, and now he suddenly becomes OP in pre-season 5? I don't think so. It's the new jungle, not Warwick.

a previously fine champion becomes broken after receiving 1 item idk maybe they coulda just hit the item ;l

If you read the patch notes, they acually nerfed BOTH of them. Riot balance doesn't make sense to me. It was the item that was OP, and they fixed this. Honestly I think Riot was just looking for an excuse to nerf Warwick, and all the qq on the forums justified it.

Warwick was always strong without the Devourer item, he pressed R and your carry died, all because Riot was too lazy to fix the bug where WW ult always dealt damage even if canceled.

Devourer just made him way stronger because it gave him free on hit for a really small amount of gold.

Are you surprised?

Problem: New Jungle item (feral flare 2.0) broke WW when used in combo with his ult and smite.

Riot's Solution: Better nerf the single aspect of the champ that made him playable.

Yes, they did nerf devourer a bit, but there was honestly no reason to nerf WW's ult damage

That single aspect also made him broken. He was broken even before Devourer came out, he was always "Press R and enemy carry dies" champ. It was just way noticeable back in the day where every champ had these abilities.

I recently did a rated and we screwed up in champ selection over the jungle roll, so we ended up with a Warwick and an Amumu. So I'm like go Warwick top, its actually viable, don't worry. The guy was paniced because he didn't even know the champion. He was asking us what items to build and we helped with that.

He went on to rape everyone in the game.

I know, I know, anecdotal evidence is the worst kind. But maybe top warwick was pretty powerful too?

its probably still viable with the right matchup as a counter to a few champions, but ww top has always been hard to snowball with.

once you start snowballing you snowball hard, but until you find your window of opportunity to do that you get zoned out pretty easily. his w duration nerf will nerf his survivability while hes being zoned and his ult base damage nerf will make it harder to find an opportunity to turn the tables.

maybe if they reduced the mana cost of his q id be ok with this. but without a blue buff your only viable sustain is your w. if you are forced to q a minion for health you wince in pain as your mana bar is demolished and you cant poke your opponent

He got picked once at IEM 2014 instead of Lee Sin. I await the Twisted Fate nerfs in the next patch.

WW was a problem. I understand that.

But they heavily nerfed the items that singlehandedly raised him from bottom tier champ to god mode. Were the kits nerfs on top of that really necessary? Is Riot trying to say that WW should build those jungle items to make up the difference for the number nerfs? What about maps that don't have those jungle items, is WW just completely screwed there? What about lanewick, he wasn't that great before and now he's even worse through no fault of his own.

Is this some kind of punishment for daring to smack LeeSin around?

I agree the nerfs were a bit much, especially since it was just this last patch? 4.19 maybe, They made the cooldown on his ult longer too.

Thats 3 nerfs to Warwick the past month. Just because of 1 item, which they nerfed. I don't think Warwick is unplayable now (I main him) But I am quite mad I can't play him for awhile without being yelled at by everyone for "bm'ing" I like Warwick better when barely anyone played him :/

Yeah it does seem careless to nerf WW in direct and indirect ways at the same time. It definitely goes against the policy of making gradual changes to tweak power. But hey, it's preseason so let's do it.
