stormraiders surge never feels like it should

i take stormraiders more than most... but still, to this day i dont know how to tell if it has procd. sure, there is the uber obvious "i right click then move fast" indicator, but there seems to be no sound or animation attached to it like the other masteries that have a specific instant that they proc.

this has the result of making stormraiders FEEL less powerful than it is. also, if i dont know the moment stormraiders succesfully procs, how do i take advantage of it if im already in melee range of my opponent? if i heard a gust of wind or something like that, i would know that NOW is the time to advance past my target to body block them or try to kite a little as a melee because i can

Some sort of lightning animation around the feet combined with a whooshing noise maybe?

Agreed, needs some sort of sound effect or obvious visual cue as it is quite important to keep track of when fighting.

+9001 this is exactly what it needs

It does in fact have an audio cue, which is a sort of wooshing sound. However, it's very faint compared to other ability audios, and the nature of the sound, means it doesn't stand out very much. I have the same issue of properly reacting to whether or not I've procced it, and it often ends up with me not utilizing the effect properly which causes me to lose a trade or even dying if i was too reliant on it. I use it on Riven to trade against slow-reliant champions who use their slows to force a longer trade or chase you down(Darius, Tryndamere, Olaf, etc.), and not timing the Stromraider's Proc properly, means I'll either disengage before proccing it, thus losing the trade because I can't get away, or stay in the trade during some of the duration of the effect making it time out before I can run far enough away. This problem comes solely out of not knowing whether or not the effect has procced or not. It needs an audio cue for when the effect sets in, the current one to indicate the duration of the effect and some visual cue to go along with it.

if you are just using stormraiders for the speed boost then get something else,

you should use it for the anti-slow

sometimes surge don't feel like it should, you make it...surge so good

I love stormserge, but I agree it never feels like it should. I use it on assassins most of the time, but it's fun to use it on Hecarim.

You get a buff on your active effects bar showing Stormraider's surge.

I for one am glad that it doesn't show up so easily. If everyone knew exactly when I had extra movement speed and tenacity, they would probably run away when i'm trying to use stormraiders to outplay.

I thiiink it looks like ghost effect, so yeah, the mere fact that I "think" that's what it looks like is proof enough that it isn't clear enough.

A sound cue or a different visual effect should be needed, because all I can see is that Nasus began sprinting after he hit me with a Q and no me gusta.

I feel one of the reasons Thunderlord's has always felt OP is because it has that big KRK-BOOM sound and vfx. Everyone knows when Thunderlord's procs.

statelesskiller9/20/2016, 8:16:15 PM2 votes

it does make a sound. its like the wind whistling past you. but the thing is. thats so fucking quiet that you cant hear it in a actual team fight.

I don't even know if it has ever made any difference when I used it. I take it on Nasus when I go down the Cunning tree for the 5% bonus CDR only because Windspeaker doesn't apply for obvious reasons, and I don't build any AD/AP for Thunderlord's to scale off anyway. Yet, I don't think I even noticed it activated before.

There is a sound associated with it. You just don't recognize the sound.

evilswitchkix9/21/2016, 5:46:38 PM1 votes

How about Mundo mockingly saying "vroom vroom!"

I is Illiterate9/20/2016, 4:06:23 PM1 votes

I disagree. On champions like Darius and Nasus who love to abuse Stormraiders, it's very obvious when it procs. No need to buff it any more tbh

SanKakU9/20/2016, 3:26:09 PM1 votes

I have to look at my buff list. You have to be thinking about it really I guess, to remember to glance at the buff list. The best rule of thumb is that the squishier your target enemy hero is, the more often you'll accidentally activate it. At the moment, I only use it on Veigar, Varus, and sometimes Kha'zix...but I bet it's very good on someone like Renekton or Aatrox or even Udyr.

Shouldn't they do the same for Ferver?
