This Tristiana boy Ryze top meta is a wee bit...disappointing.

There is a reason that Garen, Soraka, and Annie are generally kept weaker. It's okay to have easy mode, super safe champions with all targeted abilities, but when they're straight up just the best options on top of being as safe as they are, that makes for a game where youre expected to display significantly more skill than your opponent to win the game.

Keep the learning champs in the learning tier please Riot. We don't need an overtuned Garen, Warwick, Sion,Kayle or Annie meta-so we don't need a Ryze a s Trist meta either.

You want to play against a ryze? Any skillshot mage that has a 500+ range on their skillshots.

Yes let me just take an immobile poke Mage toplane. I'll waveclear against Ryze and pressure his tower. I'm sure I won't get ganked.

All the champs mentioned in the OP besides Trist and Warwick have one thing in common beyond being called "simple", and that's their lack of mobility. If mobility is the price of being "simple" so be it, but keeping certain champions in an unviable state because they are "simple" is just a bad move.

Ryze goes top.

DO YOU: pick a Mage who counters Ryze in lane and get camped and killed by the enemy jungler because you are immobile

OR: pick a melee champion that can survive jungle ganks toplane, and have absolutely no way to engage on and hope to kill the massive harass based lane bully with instant targeted hard cc and a long low cooldown speed boost+sustain, who then free farms and hyper scales into late game

OR: pick a ranged mobile lane bully like Lulu or Quinn who can survive top but who is used to combat melee opponents and fares poorly against Ryze with no kill pressure, turning top into a free farm fest until Ryze hyper scales into late game.

Those are your options. Have fun!

I pick Irelia and win lane while outscaling him as a splitpusher.

I pick Mundo and survive lane while outscaling him as a teamfighter.

I pick Maokai and sustain my way through everything he can throw at me before outscaling him ludicrously hard as a teamfighter.

If I'm feeling really vindictive, I pick Jayce and absolutely shit on him in lane while being essentially ungankable.

Regardless, my main point is that Ryze naturally pushes the lane if he's zoning the enemy laner (which most Ryzes are gonna do), and he's a pretty hilariously easy champion to gank - a .75 second snare on a 0 mobility champion is not going to save you from an Elise Maokai 2v1. Ryze is strong in 1v1s, but pretty awful in skirmishes.

maokai needs to be deleted from your post because he will be on perma ban status soon and will be nerfed afrer the championships (rito make top mao op and they dotn want to nerf it cause all the teams cling to him )

Or,

Force an early jungle gank, instantly kill ryze and zone him for the rest of the lane. Bonus points if their jungler ganks at the same time because Ryze stinks at the early 2 v 2.
