@Meddler: Which of these ultimates would be more preferable for a "Swarming" mage?
I'm still working on a design for a Champion designed for "Zerging". Basically, you spawn tons of wimpy ankle-biters that are meant to simply overrun your enemies, and can be really good for sieges. Basically, the concept that went behind Swarm Hosts in Heart of the Swarm.
Now, I'm torn between two ultimates to give such a Champion. I need to pick whichever one is more acceptable for gameplay.
Here's the first one:
Infestation Toggle: Mark a target location. While active, you spawn Broodlings every second that march toward the target location, attacking enemies in their path. The upkeep cost of Infestation increases every second. Higher levels increase the number of Broodlings spawned per second.
Basically the "Swarm Host on steroids" approach, but it might be obnoxious for the enemy.
Thus we get to the second one:
Infested Pod Launch a pod at target location, dealing modest magic damage on impact in a small area and releasing Broodlings from the pod. The Broodlings will automatically attack the closest enemies they can find. Infested Pod uses an ammo counter that replenishes over time. You can store up to X pods simultaneously.
Think of this as a cross between Corki's missiles and Maokai's Sapling Toss, but with a Zerg twist. This would leave the Champion with more openings that enemies can exploit, and allow for slightly more tactical use of the Broodlings, but reduces "Swarming" capabilities considerably.
Which do you think would be more appropriate?
Here's a few things regarding the Broodlings:
- Broodlings do not cause unit collision except with each other.
- Broodlings are melee, very fragile, and expire after a few seconds.
- Broodlings attack the closest enemy, and DO NOT prioritize enemy Champions.
- Broodlings die upon attacking structures.
