I went 0-10 against Yasuo with Kat
The rest of my team did pretty horribly overall too.

I'd love a rematch. I have a lot of ideas about how to handle it differently next time. I got badly outtraded early and wasn't able to farm safely or go for him because he kept wearing me down. By the time I was 0-3 he was able to dive me easily, plus the rest of my team was really struggling and their Fiddle was able to gank me any time he wanted. Plus my R was useless thanks to his tornado and wind wall.
My team (friends and friends of friends) were way out of our league in all of our matches last night somehow.
the i need to learn this matchup one do i win

I hope you went with "I need to learn this matchup" I won't say that no champion is better, but that seems to be a case where you ran into something you weren't familiar with and made a few mistakes. I know I've done that too many times since I started playing.

Hey, I'm still new. :P Glad to see you went with learning the matchup. In my opinion that's the only way to get better at this game.

It was indeed a bit of a snark at the way so many people are always complaining about how this champion or that champion needs to be nerfed or takes no skill or whatever and assume the problem could not possibly be with them and their own ignorance if they struggle against anyone.
I completely understand. I've had a couple moments of despair although recently its more "Oh god, someone on my team is playing Yi" or "Oh god, someone on my team is playing Garen." It seems those two are popular cheap champions, and as I've slowly climbed up the level ladder I've noticed that both can be countered if there is someone with some skill on the opposing side. I do still get games where a Yi or Garen I'm working with gets 15+ kills, but I've also had quite a few games where they die 3 times more than they kill anyone. I'm sure some of them are the type to then complain "Nerf X", but in both cases I've noticed they aren't that hard to beat.
I can't say as much about Kat v Yasuo. I've played Kat one time and while she is fun to play she's also a glass cannon and very squishy. An unfamiliar matchup has to be a pain for you because you aren't sure what they will do.
Reminds me of an old saying. "The greatest swordsman in the world does not fear the second greatest swordsman. He fears the man who has never picked up a sword before because he had no idea what the man might do."
