Nasus needs to scale harder into the mid- late game

Hexs Fortune··30 votes·1,851 views

Regardless of stacks, Nasus feels really bad as the game goes on.

No matter how much defense he builds, he still gets shredded in team fights

His damage gets mitigated mid-late as enemies gain health and armor

Nasus has a toxic play pattern so i don't think they want to make him even worse, he farms and gets damage while building full tank, alot of people don't find that interactive or fun in the slightest.

The problem with him right now is that his kit was designed for a duration of gaming that has been moot since 3-4 seasons ago. He's not weak by any means, but there are plenty of others that outscale his current kit. He may need a light kit rework, potentially even a full rework, if they wanted to truly make him meta again.

But I don't know if he'd even be considered to be at that point yet.

I see,in the future league is going to be full of Rakans,Camilles and Yasuos with milion dashes around ,blinks and stuff. I really like having something simple like Nasus and Garen , what is wrong with something simple to chill and relax. I hate what league is becoming really...

inuitmailman3 votes

What's that? Skill based? Ugh your right so annoying (sarcasm strikes again)

korg0231 votes

wow, have you ever heard of battlerite? In that game you dont have farming, pushing and buying items its all about skill, action and reflexes if you prefer only that just go and play it. In league i sometimes like to chill and farm, stack etc. I dont always want to blink around and use fast reflexes i want to just relax and chill.

Everyone of those has the potential to be outplayed and their kit's insentivise iteration with your opponent. Nasus just farms a lane, and gets rewarded with free damage for doing a basic function of the game.

And like most champions they beat him early or get camped so hard they can't stop him unless their jungler comes up, now lets fast forward to 20 minutes, Nasus is generally farming a side lane away from everyone else still not interacting with other champions he is just a ticking timebomb of either you have good kiting and he still is useless and screwed over his team for 40 minutes for nothing or he near one shots the squishy champion once he pops stormraiders on a frontliner.

Neither of these options feel good for anyone either his team and him feel bad because he is useless all game or he feels good while everyone else feels bad

Yes he does need to scale harder into the mid/late game, but his laning phase is so obnoxious. It's utterly boring to lane against Nasus. You can't poke him out of lane because of his passive and pushing him under turret creates a great advantage for Nasus. He needs a mini-scale rework in order to achieve his mid/late game fantasy.

Sun Wu Ryuumoku2 votes

yeah its boring to lane against him... its in same style as KogMaw Vayne. When u play against them, its a race against time. And when Nasus is tanky enough + his item 3078 funz is over. He can dive u, u won't be able to outplay his stupid 90%slow point and click.

Yeah he need a rework (same for Garen ).

korg0231 votes

If you manage to push him into his tower early he loses so much farm due to high Q cd and tower just takes half of the wave. Also never forget that his team has to play 4v5 most of the time and it makes grouping up and taking objectives easier. This all would make sense if Nasus had some reward for his weak early game but he doesent. He is irrelevant in late just as in early if you ask me. There is literally no reward that matches huge sacrifice he makes early game to not group with his team.

thats why you learn minion management, and freeze the lane on your side, make him miss more cs and stacks than if youd push into his turret and bring him into an absolute shit position where he has to overextend and walk close to your turret to cs.

thats how you beat nasus really. learn to freeze waves on your side of the lane when youre stronger than him, zone him off minions with your higher kill pressure and farm him with your jungler.

Great Ozymandius1 votes

There are tons of ways to beat nasus. The easiest way is to counterpick him with either a lane-bully or a tank. You can go either way. Make his life hell early game so he never gets his mid-game power spike or build armor and clear waves -- he can't itemize penetration so his q-stacks don't mean a lot, and then you go and teamfight and he can't.

King of Demons5 votes

His Mid game has always been his strong suit, I don't think he needs to get even better. He isn't supposed to be a teamfight god, he's a splitpusher

korg0234 votes

It just doesent makes sense with his thematic and fantasy of infinite stacking. What is the point of mechaninc if it doesent makes you stronger as time passes , if only mid game is his peak why he even has infinite stacking mechanic. Just looks like bs to me tbh. If you use common sense something that can rise in power infinitely shouldnt have its peak ever,it should just scale as games go on and gets stronger and stronger.

That's because his scaling is linear and that at 6 items, games basically end.

Carries have exponential damage with multipliers (crit, attack speed). Nasus scaling on Q is just linear over time.

If we make a graph Nasus power level is like a line, compared to an exponential curve for carry champions that stops at 6 items because they can't get more items. Which means his scaling is only starting to become relevant once everyone is full build and Nasus is the only one able to keep getting stronger.

In all honesty, Nasus would probably be interesting if we had 4 or 5 items max, but with current game duration, his infinite scaling will never even be relevant.

And the graph story explains his midgame spike. If we compare a linear function to an exponential one, the linear function grows better, has a pic where its difference to the exponential one is the best, and then slowly gets outscaled. (except in this case the exponential function basically stop for a certain X, being the time where people have 6 items and can't get stronger anymore)

Great Ozymandius1 votes

Always? No. For the last 3-4 seasons, yes, his power-spike has been between 20 and 28 minutes (if he farms well). Which is a really crap window for a champion that is so weak in the early game and falls off so hard in the late game.

In the first half of leagues existence, Nasus WAS the late-game god. That was his identity. But the proliferation of mobility, cc, tank-busting weapons, nerfs to the price and stats of tank items, and a whole suite of new or reworked toplaners has relegated Nasus to this tiny, ridiculously niche win condition.

one word: no

Critmaster Garen4 votes

they should just change his e to % armor shred or pen instead of flat shred.

a stacked nasus already deals a shitload of damage to squishies. so the slight loss of shred against squishy targets will barely be noticable.

but more beefy frontliners and tanks who buy a couple of armor items reduce even an 800 stack q to a laughable tickle. he doesnt have a viable source of armor pen/shred like other juggernauts. nothing inbuilt and no good access to item 3071 thats really his main issue imo and why hes walled off so easily.

SO make it better against tanks instead of squishies?

i mean, yea. the difference in damage against squishies will barely be noticable.

but nasus is pretty much non threatening against anyone with one or two armor items. its not going to be as easy for a thresh to just block a nasus out of a fight, if the thresh actually takes damage when sitting in his way and doesnt just laugh a 500 stack nasus q off.

Maybe this will help you to win the teamfight from mid-late.

blue 10% cdr 0/12/18 (or you can use 12/0/18) summoner 12 summoner 6 or summoner 4 item 2033 or item 1029 item 2003 or item 1054 item 2003 item 3110 item 3111 item 3022 item 3065 item 3742 and last item is up to you

item 3025 if you want... I prefer FH. item 3047 if full ad and no cc team... item 3067 + item 3022 if doing really well. item 3143 is default last item item 3116 is also another good last item for peeling while ult and e. item 3512 is working too but not necessary.

and note to add.... if top is ap then pick item 3060 as first item then you can sell for FH or IGB very later

Those item are so effective for mid-late as long as you focus on objectives...

you don't need any offensive item like item 3078 to win.

No, I am not... I tried many things...

Maybe for experienced player... but masteries is up to your taste and no keystone is good for Nasus... I believe 0/12/18 is more safe and reliable during teamfight phase. (18/12/0 or 0/18/12 is for duelist imho)

I used Nasus as peeling/slow enemies for team and then destroy the objective fast as possible therefore the objective is much weak than champions if stacks well.

300 stacks in 30 mins (if play really really bad) is enough to destroy the objective. That's why sheen is not important. So try it without sheen.

Can we just leave him in low elo, there are some nasus mains that completely dominate with him and i don't want this tanky 1 shot son of a bitch to be meta again

Sun Wu Ryuumoku1 votes

Completly agree. Even if u can dominate with anything at low elo... My bro could rekt many in his silver elo when Aatrox was garbage (his gold I now, close of plat).

I feel like nasus is always funless to play against... and it must be worse at lower elo where adc don't know how kite, supp don't peel...

Sujiren2 votes

He sucks at teamfighting, as he is no different than darius in that regard, his niche is 1v1 and taking turrets.

Starcraft243ver17 votes

Darius cleans teamfights wonderfully, has a nice AOE with Q, control/displacement. I prefer darius over nasus 100%.

Penns7 votes

Meanwhile Nasus 2 shots carries with a Q and takes Stormraiders tho lel

Death by Glamour12 votes

He has to get to them though, thats the problem.

Once late game kicka in the carry can just as easily shred him

inuitmailman5 votes

He has one of the strongest slow in the game. How is he not getting to them? Is it cuz he's melee and is getting kited? HOW DARE HE BE KITED RITO PLEASE BUFF MOBILITY ON ALL MELEE CHAMPIONS! (Sacrcasm if you can't tell)

Death by Glamour1 votes

Well QSS deals with the slow and the support usually keeps him tied down long enough for the AD to kill him

it really depends. you can beat few lane bullies with nasus E max.

korg0232 votes

Even with 700 stacks i just get bursted down late game, there is so much shields,dashes,stuns,burst,lifesteal,sustain,heals,blinks....i literally feel like dog on the leash who just barks and does nothing when i play Nasus in teamfights later in the game.

DunkinNoobs2 votes

I want to know why you're team fighting as nasus. You're impossible to duel for about 95% of the champs in the game and you're so tanky and take towers so quickly that you can often do it while the enemy is attacking you. You picked Nasus ; go pressure a side lane.

Great Ozymandius2 votes

I keep seeing posts saying this. Because it's true.

Trias0002 votes

He fucking one-shots towers. He one-shots squishies. He one-shots everyfuckingthings while building super tanky. Nope, he already scales super hard as long as he's lef alone for 5 minutes.

[slayer-jinx-unamused] nice meme.

Obviously... he's made for teamfight. But they reworked him for be better during team fight than his old version.

Nasus isn't bad because of his scaling. He's bad :

  • because his early is weak (game are short)
  • snowball is hard atm
  • he's bad cause laning phase is short.
korg0234 votes

It doesent matter if he had 20000 damage on his Q if he cant get close to his targets. Every team with iq higher than 5 can kite nasus especially in this meta full of mobility.

Irelia Bot1 votes

If he does he needs a much more abusable early game.

Geshultz1 votes

I have an idea to make Nasus scale better into mid and lategame and keep an early game weakness. Make his base movement speed 32 then have his q stacks grant 1 bonus movement speed per every X amount of stacks and then change his e to grant movement speed with allies in it and do % armor penetration instead of flat armor penetration has now. Would make better in teamfights for disengaging and engaging and make him a monster towards the lategame as he would get more mobile as the game goes on.

inuitmailman1 votes

This. So you want the basis of a assasin (in and outgame play) but as a tank... k

SexyBabyJesusZ1 votes

i wouldnt mind this if they would nerf his tankiness, late game its impossible to take down a good nasus cause he builds a lot of resistance while having a lot of inate damage from his passive

Tobias Brackner1 votes

He gets no more shredded than anyone else. Don't get focused by the whole enemy team.

SquashCannon1 votes

Alternatively, they could make his ult give 15-30-45% damage reduction instead of resistances to nullify shreds.

I'd rather wither be somewhat returned to its glory.
