Can A Rioter tell us what they think about Darius high ban rate and winrate and what they plan doing

I want Darius to be strong but I'd rather have him weak than permabanned in ranked.

Can I rioter appease us REAL Darius player who only want to play him in ranked again!

He's probably too strong. Statikk has some slight changes in store that should appear on PBE tomorrow, I believe.

I think there is some point when he's too strong and some when he's too weak. Remind : Darius don't have Movespeed like Garen/Skarner/Mordekaiser.

One of the biggest OP point is the Spirit Visage. Apparently he can heal himself more than 30% missing HP with the item. The second is the insane AD bonus with Bloodrage. I "don't think" it's a good idea to nerf the AD from the bloodrage, it's the identity of the champ, like "Get Away from a full rage Gnar". I think the Hotfix does too much, even if the Q is the only real "Basic spell" on Darius.

Also, it would be good to not nerf Darius over 3 patch and finish him with a coup de grâce, sending him in the unplayed Champ Tier, remember Zac, Kha'zix, Lee sin, Kassadin, Ryze ? Perma picked Champ and 3 patch later they are the worst champ. Please, don't do that again.

Lee Sin, what? Since season 3 and on he has always been near the top in terms of viability. It shifted out of favor with Cinder-hulk, but he was and is far from Trash tier.

Sweet FluffyTail2 votes

Well, okay, Lee sin is special. But because he's special, he's on my list. Today, if you play Lee sin, you're a Lee sin main or really at your ease with him. Just saying that he was requiring a mid-level skill, today he require a really high level.

Far from trash but still in the lowest winrate, since they don't nerf his strength but the weakness of the Blind monk.

Lee Sin? What?

No I could be wrong on this, but it SEEMS like the double buff to "juggernauts" was over kill. By double buffs, I mean the straight buffs in addition to the new items just being vastly better than they have any right to be. Deadman's plate basically cancels the nerfed speed to Garen/Darius. Ect... Very much like when Sej was dominating the jungle. She got nerfed, then nerfed, then the item she used was nerfed and now she is forgotten. This is the total reverse of it.

I know Riot was in a hurry to put these changes to Live before works. But man, this whole thing feels REALLY rushed and poorly thought out. Hopefully next year Riot plans out their year a bit more so they don't just toss items/champs/updates out in a hurry to get things ready for Worlds. This has thrown the whole balance of the game out the window. Even when beating down the juggernauts early, they still hard carry late game.

I honestly think its just people still learning how to play against him still. Once you learn when you can engage or not against him in lane, it becomes easy. His Q is a massive part of his damage, and without the 'bug' on his E he cant catch you as easily anymore. What he does in lane is punish the mistake of trading with him for too long, and he snowballs off it.

But the thing I noticed playing him, is that with 0 good reason to max your W second anymore, he gets %Armor Pen WAY sooner than he used to. This is probably the root cause of why he is doing so well right now. Having any Armor Pen in your runes and then combined with maxing E second leaves your opponent in lane little choice but to build anything but pure health to survive against you. Combine the Q heal with that, and Darius can turn around most jungle ganks.

To make it short, Darius is hitting an old powerspike of his FAR sooner than he used to because of his new lackluster W. Its not powerful late game, and there isnt any reason to rank it up. So you take one point, and max E for the Armor Pen. Just tone down the Armor Pen passive, or attach it to his Ult.

First off all they should fix his double Q proc bug asap.Mb then his ban ratio would drop.Thats the only reason i ban him.

it's been fix already

The thing that I don't understand is the reasoning behind the Juggernaut update. Those 4 champions were powerful in their own right when played with the right team compositions as well as in the hands of experienced players. Hell, I played a crap-ton of Skarner and Garen, and I was never disappointed with their current states in the game.

Then comes the Juggernaut update, and boy did it hurt. Not only did they buff those 4 into states where they weren't only stronger, but they were dominant picks. Additionally, they gave them items that amplified their new strengths, taking champions that are powerful and pushing them way over the edge. This exact same thing happened with the introduction of BotRK with the hyper-carries (KogMaw Twitch Tristana Vayne ).

I personally think that Riot took things twice as far as they needed to. They should have either 1. Added the new items into the game, or 2. Rework the "Juggernauts". I personally think that adding the new items would be enough to work, because so many Fighters and Bruisers benefit from them now. I think Garen, Darius, Mordekaiser, and Skarner would have been perfectly fine with the new items and no reworks. The AP item update was great for Mordekaiser, so why not just leave him be?

Celeste Benal1 votes

I agree. I would definitely have bought (and still do buy) Sterak's Gage on Skarner, since I was always building item 3025 , which has the spellblade passive. Yup. I'll take another 25% AoE spell damage across the board.

You are not a real Darius player, you are just another real QQ'r.

5 Stacks GG3 votes

ofc dude, you don't even know who you just said that too lmao.

Darius is fine, he is banned often because of the double Q bug and clueless noobs thinking he is OP.

I feel like people are far more bothered by melee champs that feel too strong than ranged champs that feel too strong. When melee champs are strong, they constantly exert that strength on you in a very forceful way, and it feels like shit to be on the receiving end of that. That's why people will rage forever about Garen's 55% win rate but have nothing to say about Heimerdingers 55% win rate.

Heimer is really bad example cuz he has low pick rate. But looks at Ahri's goddamn winrate and pickrate! Is that even real?

Slamurai Jack3 votes

Kinda reinforces my point. Of the 15 most banned champions right now, 12 are melee, 2 are ranged, and 1 is half and half (Elise). However, of the top 15 champs for win rate, 8 are melee and 7 are ranged. There's clearly a strong disparity between what feels strong and what actually is strong.

Absurd... and they're going to gut all these melee champions just to make this shitty community feel bettter?... pf-f

Slamurai Jack2 votes

I don't see any gutting happening yet. Darius is going to get nerfed no question and he'll deserve it. He's kinda absurd right now, as is Mordekaiser. Garen's already been toned down and I'd be surprised if Riot nerfed him again. And who knows just how strong Skarner is after all those hotfix nerfs; we'll have to get some numbers before making a judgement on that.

It's mainly just how game warping bruisers are when they're strong.

Stun Ahri, and she dies. Jump on her without ult, and she dies. She does a lot, but she's really squishy.

Bruisers are much harder to deal with because they're way too tanky to kill while doing stupid amounts of damage. They're less punished for screwing up because they're tanky, as well, so it often feels like they get a stat lead and then just keep winning regardless of player skill because they're all so forgiving.

Slamurai Jack3 votes

They don't necessarily have to be tanky though. Many of the highly banned melee champions are assassins or melee carries (or Riven). Yasuo had like a 99% ban rate for a while and he definitely wasn't tanky. I think people just really don't like champions that can get in their face and kill them; hell, I can't remember the last time the most banned champion wasn't someone who jumped on your face and killed you. Even the last 2 ranged champs to top the ban charts, Leblanc and Azir, tended to be very melee-esque when they actually killed you. People really, really hate champions that kill them quickly and at close range and they tend to ban the ones that are thought to be the strongest. By contrast, I don't think a champion like Xerath or Vel'koz could ever become highly banned no matter how powerful they are; they simply don't have the kits to forcefully impose their will on the game even when quite fed.

Vekkna2 votes

The squishy melees you mentioned have invincibility frames and are generally hard to target even when they are targetable. Same reason Ekko is fucking godawful to play against even if you win.

Ahri is strong, but she's never actually invincible. Psychologically that's a huge distinction. Ahri owns you and you think "I could have dodged that charm." Master Yi owns you and you think "there was nothing I could do."

Lady Septimus1 votes

this explains it exactly! thank you

Mr Sir Lebowski3 votes

I think a pretty good point was made about how melee champs are banned even though the win rate of ranged champs both ap and adc may have higher winrates and players simply not enjoying losing against melee champs.

The last point of Vekkna "Ahri is strong, but she's never actually invincible. Psychologically that's a huge distinction. Ahri owns you and you think "I could have dodged that charm." Master Yi owns you and you think "there was nothing I could do.""

The difference is yes you could not do anything once they are on top of you without your teamates but your positioning could have been better so that they could never have gotten on top of you in the first place, because unlike Ahri who can engage on you and kill you much more safely almost no matter what the positioning is players don't think about it the same way. They still think they had a chance when in reality there was never a chance for them.

early you cant trade with him at lane... early you cant gank him even help with top laner...

I think the "meta" is in the best place it's been in a long time. I can play freaking mordekaiser botlane with a relic shield and build him hybrid without being called a troll. Has the "meta" ever been this chill? I've had so much fun this patch playing all of my favorite champs and picking up new ones. I've crushed people as Darius and I've crushed people playing Darius. I think he's in a good spot right now and I hope he doesn't get needed back into the ground.
