Thoughts on Bard

So I have played a game on Bard and like most people on the internet, I am now an expert on him. For the most part, all the major stuff is there and I think he just needs a little here and there.

So here are my thoughts:

Passive: All in all a fun passive, however, if collecting chimes gave between 5-10 gold and like 1/3 - 1/2 of a minions experience, it would be a lot nicer. Bard is supposed to be a roamer which is good, but he doesn't get the experience and gold he needs.

Q: I have 3 2 ideas for this

  1. Increase the range and the speed. Right now its tough to hit one person with it, let alone 2. Even bouncing it off of minions is hard because it's more likely to hit another minion than a champ. It wouldn't need much, something along the lines of a 250 range increase should work (same as Lux Snare) and about a 25% increase in speed.
  2. Bard throws a meep if he has one with Q. This is Bard's only damaging ability right now and I think this could really help. Slows stack as normal, meep explodes on first enemy, and meep cone does not stun. 3) Bard gets isolation damage on his Q. I don't like this as much as 2) but the same arguments can be made. I liked 2) much better than this one.
  3. & 2) make his damage and CC more reliable and some give him some kit synergy.

W: If both of the Q changes go through, then this is probably fine. Otherwise I would like to see this do the scaling heal as damage to enemies if they step on it. For an example, at level one it does 30 + 0.2 to 70 + 0.45. So if you dropped it on an enemy, it would do 40 + 0.25 damage to them. As the heal strengthens, this would drop down to 0. I think this gets some bonus points for the whole "cosmic balance" thing, but I like the idea of Q throwing meeps. Also some QoL regardless, Shrine starts red and changes to orange, yellow, green as the heal gets better. Edit: It should also give vision of the enemy who destroyed it.

E: For the most part fine, maybe consider keeping the MS boost a little bit after leaving the tunnel.

R: Pretty cool idea, not anything that I think needs changing.

So that somes up my ideas on how to make Bard feel better to play.

TLDR Passive should give gold and experience Q should get range and speed increase and should also through a meep W should do the missing heal as damage (but only if Q doesn't throw meep)

In my opinion he is a good champion. he is just different than all the other supports we have and most people just dont play him like he is suppose to rather they play him like all the other supports out there! i do like your list of changes but i dont think some of them would work. I do feel his passive collecting chimes should give some gold, not a lot but with the case of more exp i dont think it would work well since it would just give more people reason to leave lane. if you can collect a lot of chimes that would give you a lot of exp (since it would build up) there would be no point in staying in lane!

With his Q, i will agree on your two points. If he only has one damaging spell it needs to be able to hit and hit hard, since he only has one. I will never understand why they give some range champs such low range on their attacks sometimes, but with the case of bard its just one of his many weaknesses!

I actually like your change to W. i think it should have been something like that. like a health pack for allies, and a poison pack or something to that extent. it would help with his kit especially since he is suppose to be a roam base champion. make it a counter towards champs who like to invade as a caution.

E, i believe the only thing that needs to change is the obvious bugs that seem to happen when using the spell, eg people not being able to click or go inside.

R, i feel needs to change to something a little less more "troll-like" i mean people are abusing it heck it even had a bug with the tower. its obviously not working and could be worked on something a little bit more helpful, but still have that if wasted, or used incorrectly it should cost something, but not as extreme as losing the game!

I understand your concern about giving him gold and experience, but I think it can be manageable. For an example, if each chime gave 5 gold (frostfang proc), which at 50 seconds a spawn, 2 per spawn, works out to be 12 gold a minute. In a 30 minute game, that works out to be 360 gold. If you bump it up to 10 gold per chime, it becomes 720 gold in a 30 minute game. Similarly, for a 1/3 of a minion of experience, it works out to be 24 minions worth of experience in a 30 minute game. That's not really enough of a reason to be out of lane for an extended period of time. Of course at the same time you do have the ADC getting all the experience, so that may be cause for concern.

Q: Not much to talk about as we are both in agreement.

W: If Q throws meeps, then I think this is fine and won't need the "Poison pack". Regardless, I do think that it should give vision of enemies who destroy it.

E: Yeah, there isn't really a lot of changes needed for this.

R: A lot of champion ults can lose the game if used incorrectly/poorly. Kayle ults wrong target, Malzahar ults in a bad spot, Malphite without his team, Lissandra ults the tank, etc. I don't have an issue with a bad ult messing up the game because a good ult can win it. I also don't think that you can hold bugs against it as a concept.

I wish his chimes would spawn closer to where he is, instead of up near the enemy jungler's wolves. At least earlier in the game, when the risks far outweigh the reward.

I also wish Meeps recharged faster, but I've seen the power they hold at 60+ chimes, and honestly making them recharge faster might be op.

I played him yesterday for the first time ever (thanks random bard bug) and I literally carried.... ult 2-3 of there team and q - aa some one, when each meep is doing 70% slow huge cone AND 550 damage? it was great... honestly thought it was a bit much
