Why Ekko´s Rework Wont Change Anything

Right now, Ekko has a tank / bruiser´s kit. Everyone knows this, and its the reason why he has seen far more success as a bruiser than he ever has as an assassin. An easy way to see this is to see where Ekko´s kit fits on a scale from Fizz to Poppy. Many of you will realise that his kit is far more similar to that of Poppy. He has a decent amount of cc, a dash, a shield, and an ult which, while situationally offensive, is far more commonly used defensively.

Having played a decent amount of Assassin Ekko myself, I can say that his ability to assassinate people is completely limited to whether he is able to land the damage from his ultimate. This makes Ekko extremely unreliable as an assassin because your success in assassinating a target relies far too heavily on their error (accidentally walking over your time shadow thing). If the enemy is able to avoid this, Ekko essentially just becomes a weak fighter who can heal mid fight.

Riot can increase the AP scalings all they want but this will not fix the problem of Ekko having a bruiser / tank kit. In my opinion Ekko's ult needs to be changed completely if Riot want him to be able to fulfil his role as an assassin.

While I don't think Ekko needs to have strong reliable 100-0 assassination to be playable with a damage build, I do think that his current kit is a bit of a problem, especially his ultimate.

Too much of Ekko's magic damage potential is centered in his ultimate, which warps his builds and playstyles to ones that allow him to either survive in the middle of the enemy team long enough for his ghost to catch up, or that allow him to meanfully contribute without using his ultimate for damage. Both these conditions lean into tanky builds that use trinity and fervor for damage.

If they want some of Ekko's damage potential to be lock in a level 6 powerspike, they could have done it in a way that's less dependent on Ekko's opponents being stupid.

He works better as a skirmisher than an assassin.

An ultimate that speeds up time to increase his attack speed or something would be better than what he has now..

I honestly feel like his ult is a problem, but it can be fixed in a different way Instead of removing the ult, you could change his w, keep the passive, instead of the stun, he can have some interaction with his clone, it could be something like Speeding up the movement of the clone while giving him increased armor and magic resist to survive until the clone arrives Or something like this: Switch places with your clone, like the ult does, but it does no damage. If ekko does not use his ultimate within the next 4 seconds, he switches place again giving him a stun on his next ability(ya see I kept a stun in his kit) I don't know if something like these two ideas would be completely broken or not? Opinions?

exactly it won't do anything.

What's problematic is that Ekko needs to wait 4 seconds before his ult is in a position for him to land it on the enemy team and building like an Assassin means there is no possible way he will survive long enough to pull that off unless he completely outplays his opponents or if they're dumb. Building Bruiser lets him be in the middle of the enemy team for much longer than 4 seconds which means landing his ult is really easy.
