Regarding the rift herald + devourer nerf. It should be switched with Dragon.
TL:DR The nerf to sated junglers was good but applied in the wrong place. The stack nerf should be applied to dragon instead of rift herald.
Now I know there are many who dislike sated junglers atm and to be honest I really cannot blame them. However I think this nerf coming out, is a good step froward but also applied poorly.
Let us compare rift and dragon for a moment.
- Dragon is significantly easier to take than rift. Most junglers can solo it fairly early (around 6 or sooner) with little to no problem. Wheras rift hurts significantly more and often the jungler requires assistance from top / mid to get it. (even in slightly later levels)
- Dragon gives permanent stacking buffs for the entire team that lasts for the duration of the game. Wheras rift gives a one many baron buff for shoving lane. (which can also potentially expose the buffed champion to a gank) From a long term standpoint dragon is more valuable for the team.
- RIft herald is often ignored in games when no junglers are going for sated, whereas dragon is always contested. This implies the stacks on rift are considered its most important asset.
Based on this I think it would be healthier and more balanced for the two monsters to have their stacks inverse. Making the epic monsters be.
Dragon:
- Easy
- Large team bonus
- Smaller individual bonus
- 2 stacks
Rift:
- difficult
- minimal team bonus. (only effects team if grouping to take advantage of buffed individual)
- Significant individual bonuses (for buffed individual and sated jungler
- 5 stacks
In my opinion this will have little consequence to dragon but help preserve the importance of the undervalued rift herald . I also kind of think nerfing it down to 2 is a little harsh especially since it was applied to rift. I think 3 would be better but that's a much smaller concern.
Any thoughs?
