11/13 PBE Update

Mordekaiser:

Q; Both the first and second strike deal the same damage but the third deals upwards to 2 times of the damage.

->Actually a nerf, the total damage being changed from 260+390%AD+260%AP to 200+360%AD+240%AP ->Base damage nerf of 60, 0.2AP ratio and 0.3AD ratio nerf ->Evens out the damage of the three strikes, removing the flash Q3 combo and giving him more of a sustained thread.

W; Drain changed from 75-170 to 40-200. Actually a net buff but a hit to his early sustain, especially bot lane. ->Decent change, I can get behind this one

And his siphon, oh boy!

Shield gain from champion hit buffed from 15% max shield strength from all ranks to 15-25 mother*cking percent.

Is this the real life?

Is this just fantasy?

Edit numero Uno; These changes are actually a great starting point but Morde's reliance on hitting his three Q's makes him having actually decent AS, MS and base stats somewhat of a necessity.

Some suggestions; AS per level: 2%->3%. This would allow him to more effectively smack people with his mace late game, where every second matters

Health per level; 73->83 His base health is really, really bad. But I understand him needing to have less health than his fellow Juggernauts. This would beef up his bae health from 1765 to 1900ish. Seems decent actually :9

Base MS; 325 is really bad, especially with the other Juggernauts having 340+ and more CC, Mobility. Giving him about 335 doesn't seem too much of a buff

Harvester of Sorrow... Well....Any ETA on when we're going to get a functioning W solo?

If they just removed the stupid dragon and exp gimmick then maybe they could turn him into a gigantic metal raid boss rather than someone that relies on pushing and their team to do anything really.

EXP gimmick, probably. Dragon, I'm not so sure. It'd be amazing if Mordekaiser could also make a ghost of Rift Herald and would be a healthy way to boost his top lane presence by stopping him from 'needing' to be near Bot Lane specifically to take edge on it.

TotalJerk2 votes

Plus you can actually kite the Rift Herald.

Blue Moon Wolf1 votes

I died learning this the first time I fought it .__. I was like "WOW, he sure hits hard. I should run... omg he's chasing me to the golems O_O"

A Miss Fortune1 votes

You can kite the Dragon outside of the fact it will still be able to attack you even if you dashed, blinked, and teleported outside of It's range across the map to your fountain.

Glad to hear they're righting some of their wrongs against him! I'm happy they're on the path towards doing your main justice, just stick with it and maybe just maybe it'll end up as something you and Riot can both be proud of :D

EDIT: These are not the changes anybody wants. Q changes are in fact a huge nerf to Morde, and in particular they gut his AP burst builds (they just slashed the third hit Q ratio by 180% AP). It does buff the base damage notably (at rank 1 it deals 32 more, scaling up to 140 more base damage at rank 5), but it now scales mostly off of AD. This may entice more bruiserish builds from Morde, especially in tandem with the E buff (which would give him a ton of shield on cast if using a tank build).

I vaguely recall some dev saying that's the direction they wanted Morde to go, being more of a bruiser who deals good, sustained damage in a fight and not someone who just explodes you outright.

RiotFeralPony17 votes

I'm not sure if it made that build, but the AP ratio is going up to .6 from .2 on the base Q. This keeps the numbers essentially even as the AP Ratios on the swings are as follows .6/.6/1.2 <-New .2/(.4-.6)/(.8-1.8) <- Old (depends on ranks)

For a total Ap ratio of the following assuming you can land all 3 incremental hits. .6/1.2/2.4 <- New .2/(.6-.8)/(1.4-2.6) <- Old

The goal is to pull some of the Q3 power into the Q1 and streamline the numbers a bit, not substantially reduce his overall 3 hit damage output.

Raid Boss Morde7 votes

If you're going to nerf his Q damage, why not add power into his other skills? W is still weak in solo, and E just got a utility buff. What happened to buffing up his base stats too?

Baron of Bread3 votes

That buff on his E seems pretty huge to me, 10% more shield per enemy is some serious stuff.

Raid Boss Morde5 votes

It does seem pretty good, but still not great. Not until I see some base stat buffs, and his W being more useful alone, then I'll accept it :(

Malicious Metal6 votes

Literally all he needs after his Q being given more counterplay.

He's soo, sooo close from being good. Just a little bit closer and we're all going to be happy.

I hope! O_o

Baron of Bread2 votes

Surrender@20 has the AP ratios at .2 for the first two hits and .4 for the third, so that might be where some confusion on the AP ratio is coming from. I would be pretty upset if the AP ratio did go down to 1.2 total but I will take your word for it not doing that.

Moobeat3 votes

Just to note, triple checked and the current value is still .2 on the PBE as of 11/13 build http://i.imgur.com/Ngi4Vuh.jpg

Stars Shaper2 votes

I'm concerned about his survivabilty in the early stages. If I read the patch notes right his W heal has been reduced for rank 1 and this really hurts his level up as Morde usually leaves it last since many others receivedearlygame buffs.

What about AD ratios? I heard that they got buffed too.

Moobeat4 votes

Thanks for the context!

Value is still .2 as of the 11/13 pbe build, which is probably leading to a bit of worry!

Canastus3 votes

So how about you finally take care of Cassiopeia?

Zair Umbras1 votes

Oh, so the current Q on there with the craptastic 20% ratio base isn't the proper one... Well, then I can get behind that. I keep staring at the numbers on Surrender@20 and other places and it's all like '.8 AP ratio' and I'm sitting here... like... seriously..?

Big Lincoln2 votes

do you have a goal to make his W actually usable when alone?

seeing as you're lowering his net damage if I'm reading this right, why is Riot so hesitant for this change?

and why are his base stats still laughably abysmal? The other Juggernauts don't have this treatment, why is Mord the exception when he's the least mobile and the lowest utility of them all?

junglerboy161 votes

Yeah, that makes a lot more sense than what Surrender@20 posted.

Does that mean that they had the base damage off too? (i.e. is it actually 50/50/100 instead of 50/50/200?)

Rift herald pet .. make it happend for the purpose of solo kaiser

Nebuul4 votes

Why won't riot let his W do damage around himself even when he is alone? Would that really be so bad? Make it where the ally champion area only does damage when touching morde's, but make morde's "always on."

SettDownShutUp2 votes

Not to be pessimistic, but I think it's because they want him to have a reason to go botlane.... that no one wants to go to... cough

SettDownShutUp1 votes

I am downright BEGGING you, please give Harvester of Sorrow a single target effect!

Mordepool4 votes

Edit. Sry really angry atm.
What I'm trying to say is that the Q changes are bad. If they go through AP Morde builds will disappear.

Almost all the Bonus Damage multiplied is tied to AD now.

He was a Hybrid Champion. Now he'll just be 1/4 AD 3/4 AP champion.

The 1st two hits doing the same damage is fine. Removing tonnes of AP scaling from the ability splits Morde in half. Which will make him WORSE by far.

MealReadytoEat4 votes

Okay, i hate to break this to you, but I played Morde on PBE, and the tooltip and the values shown on surrender at 20 are flat out wrong. The damage it's actually doing close to half of that. It's doing double the first OR second target target damage, not AND. Double damage, not quadruple. I don't know if the AP ratio is .4 or .8, but the AD ratio is clearly no more than 1.8 at ranked 5.

He's straight out nerfed; the AD ratio was reduced, not just the AP. It's double the first number, not some really high TAD scaling like it shows. I think it's 100 - 180 TAD + .8 AP.

His q is very close to half of what it does on live, at least with a hybridish build. I was doing around 600 damage with the third q against minions with no MR, while the tooltip shows around 1100 damage, and live would do around 1200.

Raid Boss Morde1 votes

I was thinking this too..... right when I saw the changes, it looked like nerfs anyways. He's trading a 260% AP ratio for a 80% AP ratio, how is that a buff?

Jaghatai4 votes

Still awful - still not Mord

Pyro3 votes

I don't really believe it's the numbers that need to change about Mordekaiser. I'm all for a slight re-do on his rework, to make him a true Juggernaut, scaling off armor and AD, perhaps with some stacking component (think Malphite/Nasus). AP builds make him too bursty and overbearing when ahead. He needs to be durable and threatening over longer time in fight.

sreggad3 votes

what they need to do is make his Q fall off of him a bit fast and make his Q more visible. Like active should make it noticable and after the second hit make it more noticeable. a lot of his damage comes from the third Q. which is why people had in the PBE before it got close to release thought he was gonna be shit.

but that Q is hard to see. and yes flash smack is hard to dodge but if you know it's there your gonna be more defensive or harder on the CC.

Big Lincoln3 votes

it's a start

still not optimistic at the moment. riot knows what I want. >:l

Tengrichan3 votes

even less sustain on his W

sasuga riot,it's not like he will be bullied out from lane with the severe lack of sustain and really bad hp regen

So what you did basically is mid-late game buff instead early-game buff and nerfed his attack range because he could reach people too easily. all right then

LittleBlast2 votes

They nerfed his attackrange after buffing it earlier.

Tengrichan1 votes

And what was the problem with the inreased attack range?I could actually hit people with his Q.

LittleBlast1 votes

The buff was only on the PBE, they just revertrd a buff they were thinking of putting in.

Malicious Metal2 votes

Nope!

Morde had 200 aa range since patch 5.16

Fat Bastard GOD2 votes

I think they changed the AP scaling on the 3rd Q to 0.8. The current ratio is 2.6. So they changed the Q in a way but now AP is useless? And now his ultimate won't do 35%(+40) damage? And no 700 damage W late game? Why don't they just switch all his abilities to to AD? Correct me if I am wrong, this might actually be a nerf.

** Mordekaiser

[EXTRA WIP. READ THIS WARNING.]

Attack range lowered to 175 from 200
Mace of Spades (Q) - [Few changes ~ First two hits now do same damage and the third hit does 2 times the bonus damage of first two strikes. Base damages & ratios changed around.]
First Two Strikes damage - 10/20/30/40/50 (.5/.6/.7/.8/.9 total AD) (.2 AP)
    Third & Final Strike Damage - 40/80/120/160/200 (2.0/2.4/2.8/3.2/3.6 total AD) (.8 AP)

**

Am I reading this wrong?

junglerboy161 votes

Wait, what the...

You're actually totally right. —DAMNIT!!!

Here I was thinking they might actually make him into an AP bruiser like they promised...

EDIT: What they should really have it do is:

  • First two hits bonus damage: 10/20/30/40/50 (+.5 total AD) (+.2/.25/.3/.35/.4 AP)
  • Last hit bonus damage: 40/80/120/160/200 (+2.0 total AD) (+.8/1/1.2/1.4/1.6 AP)

I'd much rather have an extra .8 AP ratio than an extra 1.6 AD ratio.

Kuroi861 votes

As fun as that would be... just ouch...

Imagine smacking someone for 1.6 AP when you're packing 600-700 AP...

junglerboy161 votes

On live the third strike hits for 2.6 AP (1.0 more than my suggestion), where have you been this whole time Morde was wrecking worlds?

Raid Boss Morde2 votes

Hate to break it to you, but that's clearly a nerf to his Q.

His old damage from Q was 260 (+390% AD) (+260% AP)

His new damage on Q is 200 (+360% AD) (+80% AP)

Not sure where you're seeing the buff, M.M :(

Jacknife2 votes

Nice, I'm glad they're realizing how much he defined worlds and giving some love without making him more toxic. Now if only he got is ms back...

Zair Umbras2 votes

I was about to post that this was actually a net nerf, but FeralPony has come to the rescue to tell us that the patch doesn't have the right numbers. Thank god. I was like... IT'S ONLY 80% AP RATIO, DAMMIT... then I see FeralPony say it's supposed to be a .6 ratio on the first and 2nd hit, then 1.2 on the 3rd. That's an overall net nerf, but considering you don't have so much strain on the third hit, I can live with that since it'll total a lot more damage done if you don't get off that third ungodly hit.

I was going to be so sad. The current Morde on the PBE has a loss of 180% ratio on the Q if you land all 3 hits. It's hard enough trying to land 2 since they always flash away. QQ
