Worse than gamebreaking lag

Randomly anywhere from 5 seconds to one minute after reconnecting to the game i was just in, I would be paralyzed in place, i could bring up the score board, could type but nothing would send, couldn't see anyone else typing either, just flat out unable to move like severe lag, but it never unstuck unless I closed the client and reconnected to game, no reconnecting dialogue box ever came up, like you used to see when just walking in a straight line for 99% of EUW games, just nothing

either someone found out how to ddos one player or there is something severely wrong as single players in a lot of games have been experiencing extreme lag in normal games below level 30 since yesterday

Sounds like packet loss. It'll be different from lag because data is not taking longer to get to you, it's just not arriving occasionally.

Check the Tech support post on Help & Support board and the Connection troubleshooting support article. If you are getting packet loss, it's probably somewhere between you and your ISP, not your ISP and Riot.

A quick way to see if you're experiencing packet loss is to ping a server. Open up your Command Prompt, and type "ping 8.8.8.8 -t" and hit enter. You can stop it by pressing Ctrl+C. Just look for gaps where packets aren't received; that is packet loss and is not good for gaming (typically not much noticed for internet browsing and watching videos other than live stream).

i've played this game for 5 years on time warner, this is the first time ive ever seen it, and yesterday every game i was in, one guy on my team was always getting weird lag spikes, then i started getting them,

if this is packet loss, it's literally a drop off of a cliff and they never come back.

Coincidences do happen. Just verify it's not on your end first. If you spend 3 weeks thinking it's Riot and it turns out you needed to reset your router or something you're going to feel stupid.

Coincidences do happen. Just verify it's not on your end first. If you spend 3 weeks thinking it's Riot and it turns out you needed to reset your router or something you're going to feel stupid.

I reset my computer entirely, and the router and reconnected to the game, same thing happened, i probably wont have this happen again next game, but just knowing there's a chance, and theres a 100% rate of occurence that someone in game will be horrendously lagging is unacceptable.

If that many people were lagging I'm sure the boards would be filled with it.

Did you do a ping test to check for packet loss yet? 8.8.8.8 is a google DNS server so is a good option to ping. 104.160.131.1 is the Riot NA server (you can actually ping this to check your connection before playing), though sometimes packets don't get through because they tightly control pings.

i'm telling you, something is just wrong and broken, i'm not a noob when it comes to this, if I thought it was just simple lag once in a while that everyone experiences I wouldn't be here

Not saying you're wrong, I'm saying to be certain so it doesn't bite you in the ass. You should do more than just 4 pings when looking for packet loss though. It's usually infrequent enough that 4 might not catch it (you can just add "-t" and it'll keep going).

ive pinged them probably 30 times since the last response...there's no change, i was getting permanently lagged out in game within 60 seconds of rejoining

something is seriously wrong, and this is happening in level 20 games, those people either have no idea what is happening, or don't use forums, not everyone uses these, and submitting a ticket takes a minimum of 2-3 weeks to get a response, Riot is inefficient and diagnosing things.

also my biggest fluctuation was a jump to 72ms

I concur. I haven't bothered (up until now) to come to the forums. If you google LOL Lag you literally get 100's of responses all from these forums dating back to 2012. People talk about hacks and ddos attacks etc etc so you kind of think whats the point in posting about it nothing is clearly ever done about it.

champions in game were thresh lee zed trist nasus nami diana annie renekton kalista

the zed is my prime suspect if it was infact some form of packet altering hacking, his name was DDoDDXXX(the XXX is to keep this from being deleted for naming and shaming)

idk if that would matter really, people run all sorts of masteries all the time and this never happens, something weird is going on

game kicks me in the loading screen everyone reaches 100% loaded it stays there for a min then tells me i couldnt connect

Use the repair archive or whatever it's called option. Takes awhile but works often. You may just have a currupt file or two. Happens.

Yes was just coming to say the same. I started game just now. Ping was fine until about level 3 then started going up between 300-500. Then spiked and "reconnect" once reconnected my ping shot to 2700 at one point. Then when towers down on all 3 lanes ping goes back to normal. Like magic...

This has been happening on and off now for a couple of weeks but last 2 days its the worst it has ever been.
