Serious question, should it be reportable/punishable to support another lane other than bot?

I just had a game where my support in champ select raged at our mid and decided to lane with him. They shut down the enemy mid laner hard and I was only down 20 or so cs to the enemy Twitch as Ashe by sitting under my turret and trying to farm there.

It got me thinking that it can be a legit strategy if you have an adc patient enough to play safe and farm under the turret. I personally don't think it should be reportable/punishable.

I think it should only be report-able if the support is generally trying to screw over the team. I've abandoned my carry a lot of times for multiple reasons, however usually because my reasoning is 1) solo lane = more XP and 2) Force the enemy team to pressure elsewhere.

No. For one thing, they won't enforce that meta. Secondly, support aren't in the ADC's lane, ADC's are in the support game.

We're here to help. You're the weakest. But if you're also reckless or trash, i'm going to help you get the win by throwing my support behind someone who can carry. It's like a good financial investment. I'm going to support the organization that best delivers on my goals.

It should not be reportable at all to lane in any way you see fit, so long as you talk about with your team and come to an agreement about it. If someone is deeply upset by the way it would change their game, don't do it. But if you get your team to agree to it, try it and have at it.

For instance, I just had a game where Gangplank was the ADC and I was Sion Support. We absolutely destroyed the enemy team, despite not being typical meta.

Nah supports can generally roam up mid but constantly heading top is counterproductive until one side of bot has lost a tower.

If the team agrees, then it's fine. Otherwise yes I would totally report them. Forcing the squishy ADC to 1v2 is not cool. Leeching off mid or top lane's EXP is not cool either.

If they actually support the other lane and your 1vs2 laner is fine with that, i see no reason to report that. However, if some one who can't deal with the 1v2 pressure is left to the wolfs or if the 'support' contests the cs of the midlaner trying to be mid himself, that's not fine and should be repported.

i havent been banned so far for playing Bard , n i tend to support other lanes while collecting chimes a lot. I dont lane with my mid tho, unless bot tower is gone and enemy adc&supp grouped mid

I just played a game as Morgana support where I went top to support our flailing Riven. Our Ashe was competent enough that I felt safe doing so, and while I'm not claiming to be the sole reason we won (our mid and jungler were great too), we probably would have lost had I not stopped Riven from feeding. I am not aware that "Support Going Mid" is one of the reportable categories, oftentimes people report because they're salty, not because there's a reportable offense. I wouldn't recommend doing what I did in all or even most circumstances, but just like your game, there are times where support supporting elsewhere is viable.

No it shouldn't be.

Unless the support is trying to screw the other teammates over instead of trying to help them.
