A response to the lee hate

I'd like to point out something's that people tend to ignore about lee sin and his place in the game. I see a lot of generalizations and misconceptions on the boards about him.

  1. "he's never not been top tier for years" blatantly untrue. All of summer split season 5 he was not bad but simply outclassed. Even during spring split season 5 vi and jarvan were simply better than him

  2. "yeah but he's the best jungler right now" Elise and reksai are literally better than him in everything but mobility. Elise has: better pre 6 ganks, pre 6 cc, ranged cc, better dueling (spends on the matchup), an untargetablity and spiderlings which let her cheese objectives. Reksai has global presence, pre 6 cc, no resource at all to manage, and probably the main. Reason he's picked in competitive, his vision control with tremor sense. Lee sin only sees play now when those two are unavailable.

  3. "his op-ness gives him that ridiculous play rate" nope he is just fun to play. Similarly ahri will always have a high play rate despite balance due to fun and player preference

  4. "the balance team favors him over others though! He crowds out other picks!" Nope he just hasn't really required nerfs for a while. His counter jungling is not the oppressive force it was before, and the excessive things on his kit such as armor on the second activation of his w and attack speed slow on e have been removed.

People on these boards also think MasterYi is OP. No use discussing balance.

The difference is that Ahri has a high win rate and low player base experience and high play rate, meaning scrubs that don't even mid can pick her up and win with her.

People always forget that Lee was considered a bad pick for like a majority of season 5. Thank you for the reminder! I agree that he is played a lot because he is fun, not because he is like amazingly OP (If he was OP you'd probably expect his win rate to be higher, perhaps on par with Lucian's who has a similar pick rate atm)
