Matchmaking Seems To Be Janky Lately

I've had some very questionable opponents rank wise as of late and I'm not sure why.

I've had a wide range of ranks but not even in the same ELO range necessarily that I can see. For example I just had an enemy team Twitch with a 32% win rate in bronze 2 while I just hit gold at about a 53% ish. There were no massive differences as there were a couple of golds on the enemy team and a silver, and a few silvers and golds on our team.

Why was there a bronze 2 with a 32% winrate on the enemy? That's clearly not someone with a higher elo climbing and I'm decently over 50% so it isn't as if my elo is lower than my rank.

Is matchmaking just doing whatever suddenly?

Edit: For reference the teams were spread out like this:

Mine - Gold 4 - Gold 4 - Gold 4 - Silver 1 - Silver 2 Theirs - Gold 4 - Gold 4 - Golf 4 - Silver 4 - Bronze 2

Also it looks like he is at a 27% winrate not a 32% winrate. This guy has terrible mmr from what I see but he is being put into silver 1 and gold 4 elo games and getting hard stomped in them.

I'm surprised that our 200 iq Riot defenders haven't already stormed the place to educate us on how matchmaking is "based on MMR".

Regardless, there's no way a bronze player with a 32% wr can or should retain similar mmr to a gold player with a positive winrate. If you think a person who loses around 70% of his games while sitting two ranks below gets to queue with a positive winrate gold due to "mmr", then oh boy, I am sure you have no idea how much this company is hiding from you.

Janky is a kind way of putting it. I'd say it's a massive piece of shit.

That happens because they look to balance out the MMR.

That is why, when you tend to go on win streaks, the game will put people who are on loss streaks on your team. and vice versa, if you go on loss streaks, you will be place with someone going on a win streak.

This is most noticeable when smurfing, or finding a boosted player.

It is how bad the matchmaking is; while some unfair games are for giving losses, some unfair games are for free wins. It maybe due to the fact that matchmaking is inclined more towards giving games faster and very less towards giving fairer games.

You will get horrible players after a long winstreak because that's how the system is designed. People won't keep playing constantly if they just immediately make it to Diamond because they're skilled, so they artificially fix the matchmaking. It's become much more noticeable as of late.

In other words, "working as intended."

im wondering why im silver getting placed with other silvers and bronze toxic trolling yuumi supps who feed enemy bot then go troll my top lane the rest of the game, while the enemy team is all high silvers and mid golds with positive wr

also wondering why it does this for 7-10 games after ive been on a winning streak

You actually have 2 games in your ranked match history in which there is a random bronze player vs mid range golds, i used to be a ranked only elitist that stopped when riot stopped caring about rankeds balance and champion balance as a whole.

edit: for those curious the games are when he played lux with a score of 1 / 2 / 10 and when he played malphite with a score of 8 / 3 / 7 the OP is right to be upset riots failing more often and it shows.

You can see how bad their matchmaking is in Normals and Arams.

"who cares about normals and aram?" Ok, but just look at the missmatches there, and then keep in mind that the underlying algorythm is basically the same for Rankeds.

I dont mean to sound like a Riot defender, cuz I hate those people, but in this case I found the answer.

If you look at Twitch's Matchhistory on the official league page you can see, Twitch's account started playing ranked during preseason of this year. The account played a bunch of games, where it stomped, gettting scores like 20/2 and 20/4. These games are not included in his opgg winrate. Thats how he raised his mmr(by winning in preaseason). Lately hes clearly been losing more than winning so his mmr has been falling but it will take some time, because his mmr climbed fast when the acc started ranked in preseason.

This is probably a troll or somebody who is acc sharing and someone of a higher skill level played on the acc in the preseason.

Honestly on this account with an above 54% winrate I had to do my plat promos FOUR FUCKING TIMES over because of matchmaking.

It is so brocken since last patch, we que with 2 golds and get 2 bronze in the team that int bot hard. Every game is either a stomp or get stomped and allways ff 20, this is no fun and really frustrating. No more close good game I guess bc riot loves fast que time and short 20 min games.

Matchmaking has problems with accounts with low game count like Twitch because its giving them the benefit of the doubt for a few games rather than just kicking them down division after divison

But if you look at his op.gg now youll see that the average ranking in his matches has gone down drastically and is now where his rank is.

What you can't do is look at winrates because matchmaking does not consider winrate at all, it only looks at mmr no other stats.

Also this wasnt a gold game, it was a silver 1 game, and bronze 1 is not that outrageously far apart from that regardless

I will check into it later when I am home. Is the account you posted on the one you played vs that twitch?
