How on earth do you play ADC?

I used to think that jungling was the hardest role, and while I still think that decision making wise it is, after playing an ADC game I think that ADC is the hardest mechanical role there is. As a support main I'm so used to being able to slow people and other types of CC, but I have to rely on other people doing that for me when I play ADC, and having to click on everything seems really hard.

How do I ADC?

You right click minions until you are strong enough to right click enemies

You right click minions until you are strong enough to right click enemies

But how do I do that when I get melted instantly?

Try to adapt to your team. Good team should protect you. Don't focus carry, focus closest target. Don't chase for long time. Positioning: Try to stay as far away as possible from teamfight and attack. Sometimes you'll need to do some other maneuvers.

It's all about positioning. Don't care when your bronze teammate says "don't focus tank noob!", you focus the clostest enemy, you are the only one who can kill that tank. Don't go solo to clear wave, their Zed or Kha will find and kill you. Go with team and focus on keeping your dps. Do you have adc who you want to play?

^^ Positioning is probably the hardest skill to learn as an ADC, and its the most important. You've got to really pull your punches throughout the game, and leave bursting to the mage/assassin. Their job is to deal with squishies, your job is to deal with the frontline.

Another thing that I personally find difficult is being able to put your score out of your head. Just don't EVER look at your kda. In fact, ADC is a lot about mental resilience, moreso than other roles. You're incredibly squishy, and don't get a lot of kills, and go nearly as (though not quite) underappreciated as the support. You've got to stay level under pressure, and be very aware of the way a fight is progressing.

As for learning, just really start with Caitlyn and Ashe. You'll naturally develop the right skills playing them, and they give you a lot of leeway for mistakes, versus say Kog'Maw.

farm until you melt them first

It's a hard role, despite what people whine about. Absolutely everything can kill you if you make a mistake. The amount of ADCs I've been able to beat up as Taric or Braum because of poor positioning is insane...

If you ask me the best ADC who at the very least solved my main issues with ADC is a crit build Jhin. I think the hardest part of playing an ADC is keeping your DPS going in fights whilst kiting and avoiding being eaten by the enemy, so having your damage over less shots as well as a constant speed boost through crits lets you do your damage whilst staying safe. As a plus his W and ult let him join in in teamfights even when out of position.

I have the leering suspicion that one of these champions isn't an assassin.

It's Jax, he's a fighter, duh.

It's honestly pretty easy to play ADC. It gets a bad wrap because it's so easy to lose a game before you ever get the chance to make an impact.

every ADC feels different and i have 8 of them on Mastery 7, as i started playing league my friends told me to start with Ashe but don't do that, if you can't kite well you should start with something that has a dash for kiting like Lucian or Ezreal

Kiting is the key and if you want try Kalista If you want to learn kiting :P

Well in the times i was in bronce 4/3 i liked to play twitch. Twitch I learned, that it´s just a waiting game. Globally and in TF aswell. If u´r playing a late game ADC your just wait all off, look at the minimap (Ok i saw the enemy assasin top`? Free farm on bot!) If u want to farm after Laning Phase is over u WILL have to look at the minimap. Always look after the biggest threth against you and keep maximum distance. In Tf it´s a waiting game aswell - wait the initiations and heavy cc out. Usually it takes ´bout 2-3 secs in low elos to people throw out all their stuff. If there are assasins wait them out too. Just stay hidden from the action (vision game) or far enought from it. For example there was this one game, where they had this overfed Wu, who did incredible damage, but was tanky aswell. It took me about 4 lost teamfights and 2 lost inhibs until i got the right tactic against him. His intiation is quite simple (Stealth, Dash, Ult, ???, Profit!) so i just waited a long time in "e" (Played twitch) And did nothing! After like 5 secs he lost patience and engaged on our 1/10 Riven. I came out stealth, Ult into 4 People, GGWP! (Was lategame).

TL;DR: Use your brain! Mapawareness

Jungle is the hardest role, adc just requires the most positioning. Jungle Graves requires a lot of positioning also.

Priorities of an ADC:

  1. Stay alive
  2. Get as much cs/gold as possible
  3. Deal damage
  4. Kill champions

The key being "stay alive." It's not your job to chase for kills. It's not your job to face check bushes. Your job is to stay safe while dealing as much damage as possible. Traditionally that means attacking the closest enemy to you, regardless of how tanky they are, while kiting backwards. If you can attack a squishy that's great but never put yourself in a position where you could die to attack a squishy.

And if you can only safely attack tanks for the love of God build a last whisper item or you'll be pretty much useless.

I think that the concept is clearer to me now. You combine the right click minions -> right click champions, with the fact that EXP is a very large AOE. ty
