Honestly, I think we need to revert to the old Dragon system.
I like elemental dragons. I think they're cool af, really.
But at the moment the early game is so critical that falling behind means you give up most of the dragons 100% baring a lucky steal or a massive throw.
Dragons provide unique stats that you -cannot- overcome. If the enemy team gets two Infernals, it's basically Game over. Even if they dominated early game, that extra 16% damage means that their early champs with the lethality abuse are still relevant come 6 item late games.
You just cannot recover from losing 2-3 dragons. Dragons used to give gold upon securing them, so teams were ok with trading them for a turret. Then the new rift came out with the new Dragon which gave stats, but based off of how many dragons you got. The more dragons, the better stats, but you knew what those stats were.
Now, the stats are random. If you're a late game orientated team, and fall behind like is to be expected, you are going to lose if they get an Infernal. This makes their mid game even more solid - and allows them to take the second dragon. And if that's Infernal? Game over. If it's a mountain, or two mountains? Good luck ever contesting baron. They kill it so fucking fast that they'll be full hp when you arrive. Ocean drake during lane? Oh look, now that Syndra or Ori or Ziggs has near infinite mana sustain.
With how fucked snowballing is at the moment, the current dragon system is simply untenable. If you lose a dragon the stats provided make it exceptionally harder to fight for the next one, especially with how broken Infernals are.
