Oh god this is dumb...I feel like for the class that depends the most on achieving a heavy gold lead, giving up some extra damage in the late game to hit your item spikes faster is just kind of worth it...

Oh I know, that's why this isn't a PSA or anything. But still, we've never had an on-hit effect that granted gold before.

Yes, but GP is already kind of balanced around the idea that he can ramp up gold with his Q. Plus he's not ranged, not really. He has the potential to hyper carry if he's given long enough, but it's not the same as someone who has an AS buff and can build IE.
