I was watching Tyler1's youtube video he made of him taking the survey, at 9:15 of the video he is asked about game balance. Riot's description of game balance is "making sure that games are fair and that all of our champions have distinct strength and weaknesses, such that no one champion is stronger than all the others".

Let me break it down into what i think that should mean, 1) solo lane(cs ability), 2) teamfights, 3) jungle.

Now this is not about them being that best at these categories, it is about them being able to at least do them. I will be using a support (sonaSona ) as a example because support is the least liked position for a majority of the community.

  1. With solo lane you have enemy champions and minions you have to concern yourself about. SonaSona is underpowered when she is on her own, she can't target a specific minion to collect that cs when the enemy champion is nearby / closer minions, her heal is half used an shield may go unsued, her e doesn't bring much, other ms abilities tend to either have an additional effect or give more ms. Nami also has similar problemsNami with W not target minons, E empower auto atks only 3 vs teemo which is always on.

  2. With team fights its your main concern is champions. there are 5 champions on your side an 5 enemy champions, Sona sona Q, only hit 2 enemy targets, W only heal yourself an 1 ally which may not be ally you want to heal, u may be full a hp, shield might not even be used, E less range than her aa, always last leveled up ability because it doesn't bring much to combat.

  3. with jungle (not including invasive jungler) most of the time your main concern is the monsters(minion alternatives) except for when you gank. the hardest jungle camps are the multi monster camps, how junglers get past the problem of multiple units hitting them, dmg reduction, hp regen ability, at least 2 multi target abilities. this is basically the complaint of old warwick Warwick clear time because his q could only hit one target, what if it became a cone if hit monster/minion, or brand Brand what if his q could pierce minions/monsters that would then allow him to effectively use his combo of q,e,w.
