Is it ok to troll as a support?

Disulfiram··36 votes·2,422 views

Maybe he isn't an usual pick bot, but Trundle does have great lane sustain even when not farming, decent peeling with the pillar, and him stealing stats from the enemy tank both makes him tankier and makes it easier for the adc to take the enemy tank down... Also his Q steals AD, which could make lane trades and engages safer.

If by "trolling" you mean intentionally feeding, stealing farm, not warding, not supporting, etc then no, that's always punishable.

If by "trolling" you mean playing the King of Trolls.... KING! then yes, Trundle has always been an excellent support pick. He was pretty popular for a while in LCS as support too.

so is Sona support but it's not bannable to pick her just because she's not meta, which is what the OP was asking

sona is really good right now..

Is she?

The only banable thing you listed was intentionally feeding.

support trundle used to be meta before

then riot nerfed it

YOU CAN PLAY ANY CHAMP YOU WANT IN ANY ROLE YOU WANT. PLAYING OFF META ISN'T AGAINST THE RULES. KIDS GONNA CRY ALL GAME AND BE TOXIC AND FEED IF YOU DO THO. YOU ARE PLAYING WITH PEOPLE THAT ARE ABOUT 13 YEARS OLD AND THEY CAN'T HANDLE NEW SITUATIONS.

TheGoomyGamer8 votes

Trundle is a troll, that's the point, a literall troll.

Sun Wu Ryuumoku1 votes

So true... Even when u carry their f****** *$$ they still cry (personnal exp today was in 17/9/9 in the end, the Kog was crying all the game).

Cowseed1 votes

Correction: You can play anything top and about half the champions jungle, 1/3 support, 1/4 mid and 1/10 bot

Trundle -Mind if I troll? Vayne - I insist

woodvsmurph4 votes

Trundle is a "troll" support only in the sense that he is a literal troll. He's been played competitively for years even as a support. He is mostly picked to punish immobile enemy adc's and melee supports via ulting to steal their tank stats. He's not a bad pick at all in the right matchup; however, he is situational and needs time to really come online.

MorgManBasher3 votes

Trundle is a pretty good support with the bond keystone. Every time you hit them with pillar, your team heals off the keystone.

His q also slows and should apply the mark

Maybe in norms, a bit of trolling is alright. In ranked, I'd much rather have a flamer than a troll. Brand

how is it in norms but not in rank , when he was a viable pick in the pro scene as a support

The pro scene picks are just weird, and the chance that YoloQ will pick up on them is completely in the air.

Some times, the pro scene will make such obscure picks, yet you will still get flamed if you tried it. (Like Trundle, which is picked to serve a specific purpose.) But other times, an LCS pick completely exposes a whole new meta pick, which people get tired of seeing within a week.

trundle support works fine in the right team comp an match up...

all picks do... the issue is the player base dont know when and where it is viable

realistically speaking, that where you get the problem I just mentioned. Even if know exactly what your doing, your teammates will likely assume you don't. (or possible don't even know how that pick works themselves)

The only exception to that is if the purpose becomes blatantly obvious, and can obviously work in a YoloQ setting. And those picks are the ones that become meta quickly, and everyone will complain about them.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo2 votes

trundle is a very flexible champ to learn , top, jungle, mid if need be and support.

he can duel , he can split, he is anti tank he can be a tank

AlienPrimate2 votes

So was MF but we all know how that turned out for the next week with MF support in ranked games.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo2 votes

and the reason MF support worked wasnt cuz of MF it was cuz ASHE

and after it worked a few games in pro play you saw ashe being banned in the pick/ban phase and not MF

matter of fact i even created a post over it when it happen

It is never okay to troll as a support.

Trundle, though, is wonderful as long as you tell your ADC first.

Mig891 votes

You're not obligated to tell your adc anything. They can see the pick when you lock it in

The Tank Man1 votes

If they are picking before you it can be good to hover what you want to play so they can pick something they want to play with it.

Steelflame3 votes

Funny bait.

Anyway, Trundle as a support is good when the enemy bot lane has a tank support, and/or there is a high impact/threat tank on the enemy team that your ult's resist shred is worth using for. Other then that he has fair peel and can mess up AD based divers rather badly with his AD steal on his Q. Trundle support's ideal meta is a meta with 1-2 tanks, an AD assassin mid or jungle, and a lack of powerful kiting and/or peel on the enemy team.

Just Blame Jenny3 votes

Nice bait.

But yeah, I'm not going to bat an eye if my support picks something unconventional (e.g. Poppy Taliyah Trundle ) provided it makes sense for the match up and my support is comfortable with that pick.

Aptest2 votes

he is an excellent pick... against SPECIFIC compositions.

Zezockary2 votes

Trundle is a great support when played properly, just make sure you explain that you are playing seriously because some people pick him when autofilled support as a visual way of saying "dodge or I will troll."

BakedLotion2 votes

Hasnt it been used in lcs before lmao

xWaters1 votes

Yeah

Who is Taliyah2 votes

I play Taliyah support every now and then.

Last game I picked Taliyah support, my adc said "well I should have banned Taliyah.." "It's just a normal game, but it is annoying to lose"

In the end I carried the botlane hard.

Just pick what you want and what you're good with and don't care what others say about your pick as long as you're confident in what you're doing.

Did same today... in ranked... with MonkeyKing

Starboyˇ2 votes

trundle support is actually really good

Rainfall2 votes

not picking meta is not "trolling". Unbannable trolling is not listening to your team and griefing your adc. Bannable trolling is running it down mid.

TheGoomyGamer6 votes

I think by "trolling" he means as in being a troll sup as in trundle is a troll

Reaper Soraka2 votes

Mao support is better.

ZmIkSa2 votes

Not usual support picks I found surprisingly useful: Trundle, Syndra, Le Blanc, Ekko, Irelia, Ziggs, Zac, Jayce, Sejuani. Will test Fizz and Fiora soon. xD

lilpokfluf1 votes

I like picking it into mages cause I'm hardcore. I always max pillar and then Q. We either stomp or lose, not much Middle ground since trundle sup either has the gold to punish the enemy or he's too weak to tank and dies quick.

Shrek Luigi1 votes

depends on the matchup. trundle--along with most melee AD champs--gets zoned out pretty easily by a lot of conventional ADCs but his big defensive statpool means that he can soak up a mean burst. he's definitely not the worst of the melee ADs to send down there because he gets a ton of free sustain thru his passive (his HP5 at lv.1 is pretty meh to offset this but has a really high growth-coefficient).

Friendly Ram1 votes

Yes trundle is a support.

Toru Itai1 votes

that's not trolling, it's just not a standard support. as long as you're trying to win, you're not trolling.

Toru Itai1 votes

Yeaaaah, noticed it as i wrote trolling the second time.. then i said fk it and posted anyway.

junglerboy161 votes

He's quite a strong support if facing someone like Leona, Tahm Kench, or other really beef cake supports.

I'd use him as more of a counter pick though, because AP poke will murder him in the long run, and an enemy sustain lane will outlast his duo partner, even if he sustains himself fine.

Dancing Foxx1 votes

I don't have Troll yet but I like playing support so maybe I'll save up and try this :)

I do have a story about another type of troll. I was in a game where enemy Janna got mad about something and just ran down each lane, rotating so every lane was fed on our team. Our entire team got S's and we finished before 20 minutes. Too bad I wasn't using a character I owned - no chest :(

Literally the only time in like 1100 games I saw a raging Janna!
