How long can you milk URF?

Hi,

I'd like to start by saying that's a bit of a salty title, and I'm sorry for that. To get into my point though, I understand there are a lot of people who cried "URF or nothing," or "Bring URF back," or "Rito your game sucks let us play URF," but that makes me wonder if you simply returned the game mode for the fan base and not for the sake of innovation like you guys are usually really good at.

Now, please don't assume I believe doing things for your fans is bad; quite the contrary, really. Obviously we're the ones who play and love the game and pay you money to enjoy it further etc. etc., however doing things solely for the purpose of pleasing your fans can have some setbacks , as well as set some very scary precedents (I can see it devolving into the eventual 'we don't negotiate with terrorists' scenario). Instead of getting into all of that, I'd like to simply ask instead: Are you going to be doing something new next year?

It's a long ways away to think about and I'm sure you can't give us an answer here and now, but it's something I'm very curious about. I mean, I loved the urfitational, you guys did an amazing job with that, but all you did was one-up yourselves. So next year, you're going to have to do so again, and again, and so on and so forth. It's the entire idea behind terrible sequels and why, exactly, they're terrible. Instead of innovating with something new and exciting for us to enjoy, you just keep trying to feed us the same stuff over and over with more ribbons in different places.

Just curious. Love you guys

It was originally for April Fools' Day, you know this of course. It was so popular though, that they extended it for the initial run, and so popular that if they didn't do it again they'd be betraying their players. Their joke came in the form of acting like they wouldn't; but since they would (and did), there was no point in making another separate mode this time which probably would not even have much play so instead they worked on URF's balance so the OP champs were at least a little less OP (and the opposite for the UP).

It basically comes down to them not having many options. I'd wager they do more than balancing URF next time; but if URF becomes an April regular, there probably won't be another mode. They might even bring URF around at a different month so they don't have to keep worrying about that.

Besides, did you see all the modes they created last year? It's not lack of innovation that we only got URF for April Fools; it's lack of the community wanting anything else.

2009: Urf the Manatee champion teaser. 2010: Urf the Manatee Warwick skin. 2011: Urfrider Corki skin. 2012: Fisherman Fizz skin. 2013: CHEW and Astroteemo mini games. 2014: URF Mode. TSM vs C9 URF showmatch. 2015: URF Mode. Urfitational. Five new skins.

In all honestly, the 2014 showmatch and the 2015 Urfitational Legends match are relatively similar.

Blatant disregard for whatever your post said because your title was way too whiny for me to care what point you were making. I skimmed it and honestly, I couldn't care less what Riot's reasons behind releasing URF again, but I do know that I'm going to fuckin' ride this one trick pony until the 16th when they take it down.

-1, dumb title for a "serious" post/question.
