10+ game losing streak - 5 things I've learned (not elo hell thread)
I'm attempting to rationally analyze my games to improve myself and prevent these a 10 game losing streak from happening again. I also hope that this will help other players avoid 10 game losing streaks.
1.)
#In late game, anything can happen and all actions have immense consequences.
Hence, it is the most important phase of the game as long as you are not in a stomp. Once it hits late game, it's basically a new game. Do not let the previous game (early/mid) tilt you. If someone fed in laning phase, don't keep thinking "that guy is such a trash feeder", because they might still pull through. If you became fed in laning phase or midgame, don't keep thinking "damn I'm so fed I can 1 shot anyone", because in late game, they can also 1 shot you; it's not laning phase anymore.
2.)
#Tilt affects you the most late game.
Early game, you always think "this is a new game, no problem". Late game, you start thinking "oh my fking god this guy is making the same mistake again" and you start thinking of past games. This instantly decreases your chances of winning because late game is THE time where tilt matters and a single death could be gg.
3.)
#Know your win condition.
Some teams cannot 5v5 as effectively, but can splitpush and pressure. Others can neither 5v5 very well nor splitpush, but can instantly delete a single target and snowball numbers. Some can 5v5 very well even when not fed. Play to your strengths and avoid your weaknesses. Don't send a splitpusher or all rush mid just because you don't know what else to do. Walking as 5 in the jungle, warding, farming camps and avoiding being seen might actually be the right thing to do. Look at your team comp, decide under what conditions it can beat the opposing team comp (sometimes you don't even need to be fed; or being fed isn't enough), what conditions you will lose to the other team comp, then actively attempt to create the conditions where you win and avoid the ones where you lose.
4.)
#Know when to run against different teams with different MS.
I lost a very close game because we overstayed for the inhib. I saw 10 seconds left on the clock and thought we could make a clean getaway. What I did not take into consideration is that they had a Yasuo, Pantheon and TF, who could chase us down with homeguards still on.
For example: 10 seconds left, you are starting to hit inhib:
If you are against
you might make it.
If you are against
just drop the inhib or leave 1 high damage non-carry behind to take it and gtfo, or you WILL get aced.
You have to take into consideration alot of things when you decide whether you can stay or you must flee:
cloud dragons, globals
and sustained mobility

5.)
#Terrain is very important
I remember the first game of my losing streak. My team was stomping and we were going to close it out. We got baron, elder dragon, the score was +15 kills in our favor. We get a catch on the enemy ADC and top. And then suddenly my screen grays out and our entire team except our ADC was dead. Why?
We fought in the jungle against a GP. He got a 4 man crit barrel + ult because we were trapped in the narrow alleyway between blue side wolves and blue buff finishing off their top and ADC, who got us down to 80%, and the barrels + GP, jungle and support chasing us down did the rest.
Terrain matters in almost any game. Some teams like certain terrains, other teams like different ones. For example, Azir should be looking to fight in crowded jungle corridors or near lane chokepoints where his ult can block an entire entryway and the pathing funnels people together. Ziggs, on the other hand, does better fighting straight down a lane. Think about your team comp, where you want to fight if you fight at all, and then try to force fights near that location.
, have
or if you can assassinate their ADC, even if you trade 1 for 1, you can still win a straight up fight. Sometimes its not possible to split and trying to get a catch on a tank, if you can't stunlock them with a crit ADC there for at least 5 seconds, they will almost certainly get away. Not sure if you've ever tried chasing down
or tanky
before, but it is very very hard.
