A guide to how to deal with Yasuo

**This is not a discussion about yasuo's balance state. **

~~Step 1: BAN HIM ~~

So as we know, many people think yasuo is op as shit or he simply has no counterplay. It's okay to think he's OP but he def does have conterplay. And today I've made this guide so ya'll can get a gud idea of how to do so.

So first here's a decent video to watch, from trinimortal. He gives a bunch of good tips about how to play against yasuo. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uNPktI93N6c I think the countertips start at 13 minutes but I'm not certain.

So first, what is yasuo?

He is a melee carry (melee adc), that generally builds crit (full damage). He is not an assassin.

So what does this mean? Focus him first in teamfights. He needs to get in the fight and in your face in order to deal damage, he can't just aa you from the backline so cc'ing him down and then killing him is fine.

And since he only deals reliable damage from Q and AAs, that means get ninja tabi and randiun's omen. Those are great against him.

Passive. There are two components. First is mentioned up there. ^^

It blocks 100-510 damage. It's a good amount but... It only lasts one second. So if you're ranged, pop it with one auto before using your spells. Also because yasuo has a lot of early damage (because his Q and Aas) do not try to fight him before level 4-5 as a mid laner. Only do so if you play a toplane bruiser (Darius Renekton) His level 5-6 until late game are heavily outclassed by mages that don't get cockblocked by windwall (Mordekaiser Velkoz) or his shield only does jackshit against them Annie Mordekaiser). So what I'm saying is do not attempt to do early fights vs yasuo as a midlaner. There's a reason why Arkadata (challenger yasuo OTP in EUW) Tells people to play aggro 1-3 then passive after that.

Q. If you have an instant blink or mobility spell, try to save it for this if you can. It has the animation where yasuo draws his sword out so pay attention to it. If you dodge this then yasuo loses his momentum and you can destroy him. I'll cover EQ in E section.

W. Do not fire all of your skillshots at once vs yasuo. He might try to block some and might try to not block any and save it for your ult. First off don't pick something with mobility that gets shit on by windwall. He's designed to counter immobile projectile mages so don't pick Xerath into him. Walk around it. Back off of it. If you do this yasuo has to get out of windwall's safety in order to attack you and if he retreats, you can just walk thru windwall and continue the assault.

Q. What if yasuo dances in it? A. Don't be in the wall with him and he can't attack you nor run away.

Also predict where he'll use the windwall and walk around it (dash around it preferably) and continue the assault.

E. Mostly know as the biggest bullshit in yasuo's kit and prolly also is. Basically keep track of the minions. Yasuo can't redash to the same target and if he spams his dashes he'll push the lane (Ez ganks). The other tip is to fire your skillshots at where sweeping blade ends (learn the range/distance, it's fixed)

How do I dodge EQ? It's pretty tough. The only legitimate way is to learn his dash's range and back off it. That's all. It's not always possible but it's the only way. Dash out of the way. The other way is to aim cc at your current location so when he dashes to you he can't perform ult.

EDIT: Another TIP: If yasuo EQs on you (the mark comes first) walk towards him (if he's close enough) and he'll miss it. Make sure he's close enough doe.

R. Kill windman during it. Deny him the change to knockup more than one person.

Hope this helped yall, good luck with playing vs yasuo in the future!

Also I'm not a fan of saying this, but please upvote, it's a healthy discussion on the boards. Feel free to ask questions and to suggest tips!

EDIT: Added some stuff, fixed mistakes

Btw, another way to dodge the e-q is to walk towards him when he dashed on you. It'll make him overshoot the dash and the e-q should barely miss you

Thanks, I'll add it into the guide.

Easiest way to counter Yasuo is just to pay attention really. He gives off plenty of visual and sound cues when his Shield is up and when his Q knockup is ready. Also, Q is really easy to dodge, it's not a fast moving projectile so most of the times you can just walk sideways and avoid it.

I don't get why people have a difficult time against Yasuo. He's honestly not that hard and can be easily countered or outplayed. It only gets tricky when his entire team is built around him (Like if they had Braum, Sej, Wukong, and Ashe in the same team). But since most of these complaints seem to come from SoloQ players, then I really doubt every Yasuo has a team built around him and on coms.

If people want the easiest way to counter him, just play zoning champions or mobile assassins. Fizz is still one of his biggest counters mid-lane, and he's a fairly straight forward champion to learn. Just takes practice to perfect the troll pole but yeah, still quite easy to grasp.

Hopefully more people see this and stop jumping on the Yasuo hate bandwagon. It's really annoying seeing so many posts a day whining about a champion who isn't much of a problem compared to others I've seen. Even then, every champion has a weakness and a counter, just takes time to research it and apply it.

I still remember when no one cared about Yasuo. He had been nerfed quite a lot and sometimes was considered unplayable due to those nerfs (he had a massive movespeed nerf that crippled him early game). But I guess the boards got tired of complaining about Zed :P So onto a new target I guess~

I thought I could promote healthy discussions, but it seems you can't.

maybe git gud? I tried to make a guide so people would learn how to play against him, but instead you downvote and bitch because you think he has no counterplay?

i didn't downvote. yasuo has more outplay potential than any champion in the game. he can beat pretty much everyone in lane if hes good enough.

Still doesn't justify extremely negative attitude. I didn't post this so salty people could just "ban him" "dodge" and shitpost really.

He outplays you if you fuck up and give him the chance to. Also not every yasuo is faker or arkadata... so that's that.

My biggest problem with Yas is that I don't really have a chance to learn what to do against him. They are so far in between games and I either get really bad Yasuo's to face or almost godlike, there's nothing in between which is what really ticks me off. I have the same with Diana as well as Xerath when i play a low mobility mage like Vel'Koz or Lux. If I actually can have a chance in playing against them constantly I can actually start learning the traits and what to do when, but unfortunately I always get stomped because I have absolutely no idea what to do. I search up videos and try to imitate what Katlife and Flyerbek does, but I just never get the same outcome, so I know I'm missing something somewhere, but I just never get to figure out what. Maybe I'm overlooking something small, maybe I'm looking in completely the wrong direction, whatever the case might be, I ALWAYS feel powerless going up against them.
