Sett is ridiculous
Alright. Here we have a champion who gains HP regen as he loses HP, Q enables % MAX HP dmg (he's an anti-tank), W is a shield/true damage AOE burst ability, (like wtf even is that), E is minor CC to enable the rest of his kit, R is a 'dash' AOE ability that slows, enabling the rest of his kit. Oh and he's also manaless, oh and his grit is based off your max HP, meaning the more HP you have, the more Grit, the more damage AND more HP regen from passive. Oh and you gain Grit by taking dmg, so if you opponents dont attack you they've countered your Grit mechanic (but you'll never die so it's inevitable you'll get Grit, essentially it's free, and you get bonus HP back from passive anyway so harming Sett literally only benefits him)
Overall we have a champion the excels (dominates) melee match ups, can tank range match ups, can trade with range with W spam, out trade tanks with % HP dmg, while having a decent early game and also scaling really well into the late game.
Whats the counter play here? I cant poke him down due to HP regen and he can spam his W all day with no punishment (other than a long CD), I cant fight him in melee cause he's arguably the strongest melee, he counters any all in with a single W (defensively and offensively), and if you fail to properly kite ONCE you are severely punished. If you count his W as a skillshot (which even if you do keep in mind it's as wide as an Azir wall) he has a total of 1 skillshot. The rest of his kit just 'works together'. I haven't played him, but after just reading his kit it's obvious the best combo is E (for CC), quickly followed with Q (for BETTER autos), saving W for more Grit, and using W upon having the most amount of Grit you can muster. Oh and just ult if you have it, if you're in a teamfight just ult into their team, build Grit and W, you'll tank and 1 shot them all.
What's his weakness then? CDR. CDR alone is what 'balances' this champion. So unless you're a brainless ape who tries to trade with CDs up, that factor is entirely removed.
It just really bothers me how strong champions can be with such a low skill floor/ceiling. Champions with minimal mechanics and obvious strengths should have inherently obvious weaknesses. Champions with lots of mechanics are difficult to master, while also having weakness the opponent needs to master.
Compare how obvious it is to counter Mundo vs Sett. I'd argue mechanically they're on par, but for Mundo it's much more clear what needs to be done to counter him. Modern day Riot is too fixated on releasing champs with clearly overloaded kits (Senna) and it's ruining the game. Fix what's wrong with the games, not these nutty champs you release.
wins every trade level 3 onwards, as long as sett doesnt get fed off your team he is made useless
