As a Tryndamere main I hate Nasus, but even I can see he needs help; here is an idea for helping him

4 things

  1. Buff the radius of spirit fire (his aoe armor shred ability) by 40%
  2. Remove the magic damage of spirit fire (he won't need it with this change)
  3. Reduce the cast range by 40% (keep reading)
  4. Make it so that siphoning strike causes nasus to blink to the targeted enemy unit if both the enemy and nasus himself are within spirit fire's area of effect.

This allows nasus to exert a powerful area of influence in team fights in his spirit zone, gives him some options in the laning phase to farm his Q by using the enemy minion wave creatively, and makes diving nasus under tower early a lot more difficult if he has spirit fire up.

Nasus would have extremely strong zoning potential late game and could exert a lot of influence with spirit fire and the mere threat of blinking and using siphoning strike on the enemy back line, especially if the enemy is fairly spread out under his spirit fiire (which would give him more ways to move around).

It also removes the super boring version of nasus that just maxes spirit fire first to negate the laning phase and then doesn't do much of anything late game.

Spirit Fire isn't the problem with Nasus, it's wither, that shit is OP AF lol

the problem with nasus is he gets kited, and buffing whither is off the table because it truly would be overpowered if it were buffed.

E needs a complete rework. Something that helps him with mobility. What you suggest seems to be on the right way. I'm all for Nasus E max being removed, it's boring to play, and against. I know Riot tends to kill non-usual builds (such as Trundle support, they lowered his utility) so I wouldn't be surprised if they change his E if they ever get to rework him.

Nasus is a juggernaut. Adding a blink/dash just breaks the rules of Juggernauts. He is supposed to feel tankier and burstier than your typical fighter and it takes normally a team to deal with him rather than a single champ.

Its okay for a juggernaut to have mobility in the form of a dash, blink or movement speed boost.

Some examples are shyvanna, garen, illaoi and sion.

In order to have one of these things on a juggernaut, the juggernaut has to give up something.

Sion's ultimate is difficult to use as a typical dash, almost all of its power lies in its initiation potential, and his damage is very telegraphed as a tradeoff.

The mobility from Garen's Q is offset by his complete lack of engage of any sort.

Shyvanna's mobility is like Garen's Q, except she trades the finishing power of Garen's ultimate for initiation.

Illaoi has a small dash that she can use with an empowered auto attack but the rest of her abilities can miss.

It would be okay for Nasus to have a blink on his spirit fire, but he would have to trade something for it-- in my suggestion it means trading aoe damage. His ultimate currently does a fairly significant amount of aoe damage, and I suppose that would be the first part retuned if the complete loss of spirit fire aoe damage isn't enough-- it would probably have to shred %armor instead of %health.

I said dash. I didn't say speed boost. There is a difference. Someone who has a dash gets in immediate melee range of the enemy champ while someone who has speed boost can still be kited by ranged champs. Shyvana is also the only Juggernaut that has a gap closer which is what Riot stated. Her only dash is from her ult. Sion is not a juggernaut. He is a tank, more specifically a vanguard. He has too much CC. Illaoi's dash is just like Garen's Q. Almost a melee attack that has a slight range (very short). Nasus already has his wither, which is one of the most powerful slows in the game. Why would he need a dash if he can cast it through point and click range.

the problem of nasus isnt mobility. he needs to be more target agnostic. building resistances counters him pretty hard, since he doesnt have armor pen items available to him.

most other juggernauts can itemize into item 3071 or have armor penetration/shred inbuilt into their kits.

item 3047 alone cuts his trading potential significantly.

i think spirit fire should shred % armor and not flat armor. he already deals decent damage to squishies when he gets stacked.

another possibility would be to have auto attacks and his q apply an instance of % health magic damage from his ult. like while his ult is running, he not only deals 5% max health magic damage per second, but additionally with every q, and auto attack.

he can only be so target agnostic-- usually target agnostic damage is the domain of skirmishers, not juggernauts.

I don't think nasus actually gives up as much as darius or garen in order to justify their level of target agnostic damage for instance (for darius its lack of sustain, for garen its lack of initiation of any sort)

We can't really change nasus' passive without reworking the whole champ because he relies on it to get through his bad early game (he inherits that from the design of his kit)

We can't change his wither because its iconic, so his initiation power-- while mediocre -- is still better than garen's and always will be. In other words garen is a more focused champion that nasus in this context, so he can afford to have more defined strengths and weaknesses on that specific axis.

Nasus' ultimate could be changed to a %armor shred instead of a %hp shred, to work better with his spirit fire and his siphoning strike. He would be making a tradeoff of being moderately more target agnostic in exchange for having decent aoe damage. I'm not against that route.

I also think Nasus would probably work better if he gave up his aoe damage in order to have better target selection, zoning power and mobility with the suggested rework to his spirit fire, but that is just my opinion.

Garen situational max % health true damage and % missing health (magic/true) damage, 25% armor shred on the spin and easy access to cleaver

Darius inbuilt % armor penetration, true damage ult, easy access to cleaver

Yorick % current health magic damage on his e, % max health magic damage on his r, easy access to cleaver

Olaf true damage on short cooldown on his e

DrMundo % health current damage/true damage on a short cooldown on his q

Trundle massive anti-tank ult.

even nasus himself is already target agonstic to a degree thanks to his ult. hes just not target agnostic enough to keep himself relevant into lategame.

he can 1v1 squishies, but tickles more beefy frontliners as the game progresses.

i think changing spirit fire to % armor shred would be a good solution since you can counterplay the ability by walking out of it, which prevents him from getting too crazy. its also the best ability in his kit to look for changes without changing his identity too much.

as nasus gives up to garen and darius. garen already gives up too much, which is why hes even in a worse position than nasus. he was never even viable into the same rating nasus was.

compared to darius, nasus is more of a single target threat instead of the aoe dunk machine that darius is. hes also a lot weaker in the currently most important phases durng the early game.

I think if we made wither a 99.9% slow for 10 seconds at all levels nasus would be ok. then al lvl 4-5 it would do 100 true damage per .5 seconds for 4 seconds.. I like it

I don't think Nasus having a blink on his Q would be healthy at all. If he managed to actually get stacks(which is his job) he'd one shot squishies and there'd be no counterplay since the Q would go off the moment he used it on a target and then he'd insta delete them. Not to mention Spirit Fire already has a huge zone. Giving it more AND a blink on his Q while it's going on, despite the pathetically low damage E does when you have no AP and it isn't maxed early in laning phase and the pretty low damage on his ulti AOE damage, I definitely don't think that'd be even close to a comparison for a pretty much free Q on an ADC. This would also allow him to Q minions easier when being zoned(something you pretty much have to do against him if you have no jungle help), especially with his E NOT doing damage.

Not to mention if you removed the AOE damage on his ult they'd need to either rename his ability or rework his ult entirely, because without a sandstorm there's no "fury of the sands".

What we need is Nasus's E to be like a better version of Yorick's wall. His problem is people will kite him constantly. So if he has a Slow and a wall he might still have a chance to not be kited, but with so many champions with a dash it still might not be enough.
