"hurdur where's urf" *gets urf* "omg wtf urf is dumb only op champs are played"
This is what's gonna happen. Calling it now.

it's fun for the 1st day but then the tryhards come out and the fun gets ruined
ARAM URF, all champs unlocked so so Aram accounts don't get any benefit. Now it's as fair as it'll ever be

aram urf, thats possibly the worst idea ive ever seen. I don't even want to think about all the monstrosities that would utterly devastate that mode. In Aram Veigar is such absolute BS, I cant even fathom all the cages hell dish out, or all the Ekko Ws, or Varus/Jayce Qs.... and not to forget Lux and Ziggs
I'd be too scared to ever play that mode
Oh yeah sorry, what Zlumpy said. All random on Summoners Rift.
Oh yeah sorry, what Zlumpy said. All random on Summoners Rift.
my apologies, when i think of ARAM I always think of Howling Abyss xD
Would one for all urf be OK?
Just imagine 5 urf zeds/nidaldee/veigar/lux...

God help us........
There's one thing I hardly understand : what's the most participating mode between all of them? Urf and by far so why bringing it the less times?
#RiTologic
Because they want it to be special and something to be cherished. For example if everyone had gold bars, gold wouldn't be worth much.
This seems pretty accurate if you can remember the forum posts from back then. It was basically, "URF seems like such a great mode on paper, until you throw in people and only see the most OP champs." It makes sense that Riot would at least reduce its frequency in the rotation so that frustration can die down and peoples' fondness for it can grow again.
They said that they'd be willing to look into alternatives to help diversity if I'm not mistaken. Hexakill URF would force people to add an extra champ to the mix, changing the map formation almost every game (ie a 2/2/2 lane comp one game, a 2/1/2+jungle the next, and 1/2/2+jungle for the ambitious, or even 1/1/2+2 jungle if you predict the enemy team not having one or you want to try counter jungling for your farm/kills).
People also mentioned Nemesis URF, which Riot responded by saying that it wasn't off the table completely, but people should be able to play the champs they want to in modes and not have them removed simply because their champ is common and strong. It would definitely help diversity, but they may need to ban particular problem cases like Yasuo and Rumble so they aren't always picked.
Lastly I've heard of Random URF where the champion select is like ARAM but it's still played on Sumoner's Rift. They'd probably be much more inclined to make the system where 'ARAM draws from all champs, not just the ones you own' before doing this.
Here's an idea: instead of doing the standard rotating game-mode why don't we get a random game-mode generator? Have a set of 3 categories, something like Map, Champion Selection and Playstyle. Then make game-modes generated randomly from them.
3-person Nemesis on SR? Why not?
How about 6-person URF on HA? Sure!
I think it would be cool to see. Even if they had a system to generate it for them before release (although a way to make it random on release would be cool - but probably bug riddled).
Dont compare urf to gold. Urf is challenger. Maybe high diamond
According to Most People Gold is a worthless metal when it was discovered as it had no practical uses, In modern times it has changed to be a really good conductor for electricity with a decent resistance to not melt near instantaneously (Looking at you Silver). The only reason Gold ever become considered a symbol of wealth is because People are Banana Shit Crazy for Shiny things.
It's a heavy metal, which cannot be realistically created under the physical means accessable to humankind at the momment. Until we can recreate the conditions of incredible heat and gravity to create heavy metals like gold, it's valuable in the aspect because it's rare, and the amount of gold on earth is finite, and was not made on earth, but traveled to earth within cosmic debris.
Synthetic gold isn't gold on the atomic level. I agree the value of gold because its shiny is rediculous, and as for its conductivity of electricity, we've been able to create better substances for that purpose, which in that aspect has reduced gold's practical value.
However, simply for the fact we cannot create gold and the amount we have access to on Earth is finite, it -will- always be to some extent valuable , and rare .
Objects are worth as much as people are willing to pay for it.
Because they want it to be special and something to be cherished. For example if everyone had gold bars, gold wouldn't be worth much.
While I get your point, gold is probably a bad example. Gold has real value beyond 'its worth a lot of money because economy says so.' It's a great electrical conductor, and is used in lots of cables and computer parts for that reason, (though in very small amounts.) It doesn't 'rust', so whatever you make out of it will last. So it's used in teeth fillings and replacements, and space program stuff. And it's even used in the medical field (hello south park...you were right.....again...)
So, if everyone had gold bars laying around...the world would likely be a better place. (Better electronics, better/more reliable power supply cables, better/longer lasting tooth fillings that don't poison you like the silver/mercury filling do now. Better space program.)
But on URF topics, I think URF is actually toxic to League as a whole. If it was around all the time, people would get used to manaless, super short cooldown gameplay. Which is fun, but at a heavy cost. Eventually, if URF was up 24/7, a large part of the community would start begging for more of that to be added to the real game, or champs to be specifically balanced so they 'work' in URF. Which would lead to champs with incredibly high skill ceiling. Which would lead to champs that theoretically, noone could play 'well' Which would lead to only people with 120+ APM ridiculous buttonmash skills being able to play pro-level play. The game would deteriorate because noone would be good enough to play, and because it would stop being about who is the smartest/best strategist, and just be about who can spam the most buttons in the smallest amount of time.
StarCraft Brood War suffered from this problem because it had nothing to stop spam/high APM play. So the game became less and less about who can make the most creative builds/counter builds/general strat, and just who could make a decent build happen REALLY REALLY fast. So pro play became far less about 'He's going for a 9 pool strat this time.' Or 'HE BUILT 2 BARRACKS!!1' and more and more just became 'oh he got his 1st tank out at 2:48 and the other guy won't have his out till 3:04, GG WP, game over.
You might not think this would actually happen. But imagine a world where casuals all play URF (which is likely, because really, at bronze and silver there is no team strat anyway, so why not just play the faster mode where you can solo-carry,) and the pro's play rank-draft. Casuals get used to this super fast spam-playstyle, then go and watch a 'pro' match and it looks super slow and 'boring' to them. Because they lack understanding of strategy and are just used to the fast, random, manaless playstyle they play. Riot then has to do things to make pro more exciting to watch, or lose their LCS fanbase (cooldowns, mana costs, early game time all down) ..and slowly but surely, pro-play just because slug-fest of spam and lacking any 'real' strategy that makes it what it is now.
/puts away tinfoil hat
That is what happens. Personally I don't like urf.
I would rather try doom bots. I never got to..
I think they said they were working on doom bots. All the new champions and changes effected it greatly.
I can't wait.
I wish they would keep doom bots for new people to just probably practice like.
Positioning and dodging abilities.
Intro teaches you basics. Beginner is like, you're getting comfortable with basics, now you're learning how items and mechanics work. Intermediate is where you learn to kite Doom bots.. well yea.. positioning and Dodging. ?
I honestly don't know.... I'm kinda just making the shit up as I guess... xD
ehhh the doom bots often cheated, more gold.. dc'ing players. so it probably woulndn't be too great to practice on lol. it was solely meant for entertainment hah
THESE ARE TWO DIFFERENT GROUPS OF PEOPLE. of course you're gonna call it, cuz it always happens duh. It shouldn't take a genius to see that there are different kinds of people on league. The people that say "where'e urf" on the boards aren't gonna be complaining about it being dumb, THEY WILL BE PLAYING URF.
See, URF was good when it was a one off event every year, because every year so many changes would happen between each event, people would figure out what was OP in URF mode. Which took maybe 1 day or so. But this year, when URF came around for the second time, it literally became "OP or lose the game". If you didn't pick a stupid-OP champion in URF, say Eve, Fizz, Zed, Vlad, or anything like that, you were in for a long unfair game.
This makes no sense at all. In the past, URF was around for 2 weeks at a time. We've have a grand total of 5 days this year. Even though URF was available for a second period of time, it was a much, much shorter period.
People just aren't creative enough with their picks and bans. I won a ton of games with Yorick, a champ I don't really play. I also won a ton with Sona. I won a ton with Pantheon. I won a ton with Malphite. I won a ton with Xin Zhao.
Sometimes the predictable champs win games....but sometimes it's the off-URF-meta champs that really surprise you. I find that amusing and fun.
Its why i dont care for urf. It was fun at first, but people ruined it when they only played a handful of champs. I liked urf when i could pick whatever random champ i wanted and not worry about getting flamed for not picking an "op". Its why i stay far away from urf
Upvoted for using your damn head - Tyrone Lannister is proof positive that there are people with common sense on the boards....he didn't like how URF was going so he didn't play. Literally everyone is capable of this. I don't play the game types that I don't like....doesn't mean I should demand that NO ONE play that game type until it's "fixed" the way I want it. If that were the case, One for All would be first on the chopping block...I'd make that shit solo queue only, and NO ONE, not even your team would be able to see your champ selection until everyone locked in.
"WHAT?!?! YOU DIDN'T GIVE US URF ON APRIL FOOLS DESPITE TELLING US IN ADVANCE?!?!?!? WHAT IS THIS MADNESS REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!"
I think the reason people got mad about it is because riot had posted this amumu party thing by a rioter who's literally named urf popstar or something, making people still expect urf to be released on April fools
Plus saying there will be no urf on April Fools would be a good way to have there be urf on April Fools, as an April Fools prank. They were being honest so I don't rag on them, but they said it very suspiciously. "There will definitely be no urf. No, really guys. We're super serious." They should have just said it lowkey and gave the reason. Example: "We're pushing urf back guys so it won't happen on April Fools but it'll happen later."
Boom, case closed, that's all they should have said. It doesn't seem like a troll/joke and it gets the point across.
Hurr Durr I like using as much logical fallacies as possible so that I am going to assume that the same people who want URF will also be the ones complaining, not that it could be two different groups. Who needs logic when we can make threads based on people asking for Urf while there is merely anyone asking for it in big amounts on front page and when there is up to 5 posts about Urf building its own meta when urf is there.
I am going to complain how people wanted to play with friends in ranked and now that they can play with friends in Ranked they complain they don't want to play with friends in ranked because it takes away the competetiveness. Not that it would make any sense I'll just go assume things illogically coz it's fun.
I get that they want URF to be special and all but why did they have to use both weekends of URF so close together. the second time was basically wasted because people were still tired of it from the first one
I play Urf to have fun. =P
ALL URF CHAMPS ARE BROKEN.
THAT'S THE POINT OF THE MODE.
Yes, all champs are broken. Problem is that most people only play the most broken of the broked resulting in seeing the same champs over & over again which gets boring & frustrating.
Sounds like the Metagame in any LoL match. =P
But people play game modes like URF to get away from things like metas. Once it developed it's meta, URF lost it's magic for many people.
Its why i stopped playing urf. Its obnoxious how little variety that mode has. Residentsleeper
If you get frustrated by URF I don't know why you play it. Why do you care if people pick OP champs, its not like everyone does it and you can do it yourself. Its not unfair in any way unless you are first pick.
I've never complained about Urf, and yes I want some urf!!!
I love playing urf and I don't care what you pick. Most of the people here don't even know what was strong in urf or any of these modes "hurrdurr there's no jungle in urf"
They could just disable certain champs like a few years ago so that way the fun isn't sucked out of URF like a goddamn vacuum
That's what always happens.
Am I the only one who doesn't care about OP champs in URF? I can pick Yasuo and still have fun in URF against all these "OP" champions. Just because I see a 2nd place screen at the end doesn't mean shit in an for fun game mode.
No you're not. But the boards have an awful problem with posters that can't seem to form an opinion of their own, so they tend to suffer from groupthink. If you don't agree with the groupthink opinion, be prepared to be down voted and told how "dumb" you are for not agreeing with them.
Before they banned certain champs in urf because they were overpowered. So ether this could be done again or try to tune them down for urf.
NEMESIS OR ALL RANDOM!!! and the problem is solved.
if they literally just made it nemesis draft it would work
it would be shit if it was nemesis draft
it would be incredibly boring and champs picked would be based on how boring they were. It would still be the same champs over and over again and it will not even be worth playing
Then how about all Random?
even random would be better than nemesis draft but then it wouldn't be appropriate for summoners rift. Its big and some games will get dragged on way too far
But you don't HAVE to play. I hate Acension, Poro King, and (IMO the WORST rotating game mode ever) One for All. I'll play one or two games when they're around, but when I get tired of it (quickly), I just go play normals.
I don't ask for URF, and i think only op champs are played, BUT i do think its still fun. It's just that there is so much hidden op people don't notice and i think they should, Which is why i advocate the release of ARURF (All Random Ultra Rapid Fire)
Where is doombots?
