Mastery ratings are counterintuitive for defensive supports

As it stands, playing a defensive support in a traditional sense doesnt score high enough in the right metrics to get a fitting mastery score.

I play a decent number of supports and I hit Mastery 7 with Zyra pretty easily. But as for my other supports like Nami and Lulu, its felt nearly impossible to get any Rank 7 tokens.

Statistically, I dont perform as well on Zyra as I do on defensive supports, yet I cant hit Mastery 7 with them.

On average with Zyra I'll have a 3.0 KDA with close to 50% Kill Participation and I will get an S every now and then.

When I play Lulu, I have had games with literally a 20+ KDA and over 60% Kill Participation and I dont get past an A+ for that.

As a support, my goal is to keep allies alive, control vision, and funnel as much gold as I can into the carries. This means that I am not focused on clearing creep waves and trying to do damage to the enemy team.

Despite that fact, I am only getting rewarded for games where, as a support, I take CS for myself and focusing more on doing damage, rather than enabling my allies.

That seems counterintuitive to me.

Masterys have nothing to do with how well you do. so saying you do better stats wise on Zyra over another support is completely irrelevant data.

it's how well you play in comparison to other players that are playing that champ. if you play meta champs, scores will be harder to get cause they are meta champs.

if you play off meta champs (zyra) scores should be fairly easier to get.

also there will be some moments where you can take CS for yourself and be fine. (adc recalled and you didn't, late game, etc)
