If Nocturne can't ult minions, why can he fear them?

Nocturne

I guess it's useful vs supers (only the large ones though) but come on, really? Who sits there on Nocturne fearing minions? The benefit s supers is offset way more by occasional misclicks. I just Rd a Yasuo and feared a minion, thus losing the duel. They were basically stacked on each other.

If Nocturn can ult Minion/Monster, he'll make too much of an easy escape just by ulting Minions and Monster

I tried to ask this once, got told to get good.

I fully agree though. Maybe keep super minion fear.

Question: Why shouldn't misclicks be misclicks? I understand that was a let down for you. But we're talking about changes for everyone now so that's how we have to consider. The other champions can misclick their things. So why should we shrink the skill gap even more and protect players from making the mistakes that they make? They are already changing item 1056 so players don't benefit from being better at CSing, why should we add this as well.

Because not everything that make something more difficult makes doing it more skillful, especially when what makes it difficult is the user interface rather than the game.

Yeah, I know. I guess I just don't understand how people think being able to correctly performing the most basic inputs is not just not even a part of skill, but is not even a part of the fundamental basics of play, like not dropping the football.

You’re denying what you just said and deflecting the issue onto “people” that you never mentioned earlier. Back to the topic at hand.

The reason that Nocturne’s fear should prioritize champions is that he would never rather target a minion than a champion standing right beside it. Fearing the minion is always the wrong decision, but fearing the champion is always the right decision. When something is so black and white, there is no reason for the game to accept that input. It can only lead to a feelsbadman moment when Nocturne clicks a little bit wrong.

So, for example, it could check in a 50 unit circle around a clicked minion or monster for any champions and prioritize the champ over the creep. This change would make it impossible to “drop the football”.

This is just silly. Just learn to not misclick. Or reduce how much you do. Arguing that we need to change the game because you are bad/made a mistake is literally the dumbest thing I have read all day.

Arguing that when champ and minions are stacked it takes skill to not move mouse a little and implying holding the mouse little bit tighter is skill and would tremendously affect gameplay is also really dumb.

That is an insanely senseless remark. I didn't say the technology doesn't exist and there's no contradiction, "Players" are actually people, even the ones that I am referring to.

I can't even understand your deal, how this could be thought at all.

They are already changing item 1056 so players don't benefit from being better at CSing, why should we add this as well.

No, they are changing it because mages have less base AD than melees and don't build any bonus AD, thus they naturally have more difficulty CS'ing than anyone else, besides supports who shouldn't need to CS anyway. This isn't an advantage they're getting, it's just making up for a disadvantage that has no reason to be there.

That has nothing to do with changing their changing of the mana interactions on the item.

Sounds to me more like this comment refers to the +5 damage on autos against minions. Although, I haven't really compared the regen numbers, so if it's that, I guess I'm in the wrong after all.

Because players should be fighting their opponents, not the UI.

And that's a pithy remark that's quite compelling.

Or it would be if this was at all a UI issue, which it isn't. And not to mention, nobody has answered why this ability be an exception from the misclicks and minion hits like on all the other champions.

i guess it helps with jgl camps but idk for sure

Monsters aren't the same thing as minions.

Step Sis Lux2 votes

i know but you can use same skills on minions and mosters i mean like there is no exclusive skill for monsters right?xD

Well depending on what you mean, Monster only damage increases exist.

And also effects like Nidalee's Prowl giving benefits to Hunting Monsters but not minions.

Z3Sleeper5 votes

But there are a TON of skills that specify "champions or large monsters". This should be one of them.

Cunky1 votes

It's because it's a double-edged blade. For 1, it would be too easy to accidentally click a minion when you're trying to 1 shot their adc, therefore missing out on a lot of damage. And 2, he could use it as a really good escape. If he got in trouble, he could just ult a minion or jungle camp to get away.

Supreme Senpai691 votes

That would make him broken. You could ult a minion to get closer or farther from a target or enemy

Nøctμrne1 votes

I've had that issue as well, as a Nocturne main I'll frequently fear the wrong thing, monsters should still be fearable, but Idk about minions.

But in all honesty, he should be able to fear any minions, as its a skill that should be used wisely. I will never ult into a lane as minions are walking with the champion. I wait, and when I ult in I wait before fearing if by minions to either bait their flash, or to get a solid click on them. Its just a timing thing and I don't find it gamebreaking at all

Ifneth1 votes

Make the fear AOE?

Ayzev1 votes

That would just make it the same as WW's E.

Ifneth1 votes

It wouldn’t grant damage reduction. AOE fear is fine to have on more than one ability.

Ayzev1 votes

So still the same, just worse. AOE fear is fine, but I think it should still be at least remotely unique.

Ifneth1 votes

Why are you comparing my proposed ability to Warwick’s and then complaining that his is better? Instant AOE fear would be a huge buff, offering hard crowd control over multiple targets on-cast rather than single target crowd control after a delay, and prevent misclicks.

Ayzev1 votes

Did you not read the second line in my comment?

Ifneth1 votes

I read it, but I was addressing what sounded like a bizarre complaint about a suggestion for a buff. If you want his fear to be different, then how about we keep it as-is but always have it enable Priortize Champions? He could never misclick again.

Ayzev1 votes

Isn't there already some option to always prioritize champions that applies to everything? Or was that only for auto attacks?

Ifneth1 votes

That might only be for auto attacks.

Misclicks can be avoided with the target champions only button (~ by default), and I believe they're actually looking to make a change so it could be something you could toggle, instead of needing to hold it at the same time which is a bit awkward.

Meanwhile those rare occasions where minions fear is desirable (supers I guess) is still a thing for those who want that.

(Making Noct ult randomly able to ult minions would be problematic for escapes as the other direction you might want to take this thread, but I'm pretty sure you're more pushing for making the fear champ only, presumably being unaware of ~ doing that for you.)

Hmm, that's useful, a toggle, thanks for the information

Win1Ocent1 votes

Use the "target champion only" setting and you'll never fear a minion again...

theminiom1 votes

The same applies to Rakan , he can charm minions with his R for some reason, however something that would be much more useful is being able to E to allied minions, something that Braum can do with his W.

A Bad Nasus1 votes

I propose that if Nocturne fears a minion that said minion would turn into a mini nocturne that immediately propels itself to the nearest champion blinding them in the process.
