Come on, Riot. Don't tie the damage to bonus armor again, otherwise it'll be shit on everyone who isn't Rammus.

Again.

Nice on Malph, too, of course.

The problem with tying it to bonus armor is that if you make it a solid pick on champs who don't have an armor steroid (say, Naut) then it is going to be obscenely over-powered on the champs who do. If you tune it around Rammus and Malph (like the old Thorn was) then it is going to be bad on everyone else.

Riot should make it return EITHER a flat amount of damage OR some percentage the pre-mitigation damage you take. Those values could both be tuned for any and every user of Thorn.

This.

Btw, the formula for the amount of Lifesteal needed to cancel Thorn's damage if it is calculated as a percentage of pre-mitigation damage is rather simple:

Lifesteal = Percentage of damage x ratio of Thorn user's Armor + 100 to Thorn attacker's MR + 100

For the old Thornmail with 30% reflect, 200 user Armor and 100 attacker MR, that would have calculated to:

Lifesteal = 30% x (300 / 200) = 45%.
