If you're a Wukong main and you wanna win more games, read this.

Well, seems like Riot won't be doing any small scale rework for Wukong, at least not in the near future, and they probably won't change his passive "since they never addressed that in the Gameplay thoughts, and he definitely won't get any buffs.

So since a lot of Wukong mains are struggling, I thought I'd give it a shot to help ya'll out to win more games.

  1. Start playing Wu in the jungle. Why? your early game has been destroyed, your Q doesnt scale at level 1 and your trades are worst.

  2. forget about Electrocute and start picking Darkharvest [mostly while playing Jung-Wu]. DarkHarvest offers a lot of power and carry potential, specially since you can apply the damage more than once in a tf and it works well with E->Q combo

  3. Try to play smart and safe early game, and if you're good with playing around your souls, you can outdamage the enemy jungler or the enemy laners Even though you're not longer laning and you're jungling, you still need to watchout from the counterjungling and early game trades. The more you gank the more you collect souls [on kills and cannons]

Most of the time I follow this build and so far I've been successful in my climb: item 1400 item 3117 item 3057 ==> rush item 3147 , then finish item 3078 , and from here you go situational [[ item 3156 anti magic dmg / item 3033 anti healers /item 3036 anti tanks / item 3026 anti phys damag + more survivability to apply more damage ]]

Tbh, this playstyle requires a lot of patience and to get used to it.

Discuss if got any questions.

Although this can work, I don't see why you'd ever do it. If you want to scale and do well in the jungle, just play another champion.

For climbing he is not a good idea in his current state..

For the few that still want to (top)lane him, there are som other options that work atleast somewhat better than the old pure lethality glasscannon:

  • ** 1v1 me bro:** Use conqueror, built item 3077 ->item 3078 ->item 3074 ->item 3742 +item 3156 ->item 3153 /item 3812 this does focus on 1v1s and splitpushing, giving high sustain, high dps, high towerdamage and waveclear, enough tankiness to not get bursted 1v1 and the deadmens ms to either get a solid flank or escape an enemie colapse. It comes at the cost of you're teamfigthing though, you don't have the burst to really assasinate a target unless you're allowed to sit on them and AA nor are you tanky enough to survive any bit of focused fire. You can pick up unsuspecting targets from a good flank and cleanup, but generally you avoid teamfights and focus on splitpush and maybe small fights.

  • Back to burst: Use Fleetfoodwork, built item 3077 ->item 3057 ->item 3147 ->item 3078 ->item 3095 ->item 3074 ->item 3142 /item 3156 /item 3026 /item 3087 This is more similar to what you're used to, but more defensive in the early with FF for sustain instead of burst from EC and an early tiamat to farm up you're shit befor you can start deleteing squishys. The advantage to the direct lethality rush is that you have more dps, more sustain, extra mobillity and can easily go for hit n run strats rather than either bursting in q combo or die trying. trinity+FF+stromrazo is some impressive ms boost after you're E+Q You also hit 30% cdr on you're first two items, so with either runes or boots you can get max cdr very quickly. This built gives a saver laneingphase and more fallback patterns for fights instead of beeing helbend on getting the big 100-0 burst.

  • Annoying bruiser Ape: Use Grasp, built item 3077 -> item 3057 ->item 3748 ->item 3078 ->item 3083 +item 3053 +item 3193 Trinity+titanic+grasp make for suppriseingly high burst despite beeing tanky, especially at your two item spike you can often burst squishys with R+AA+hydra+Q, Steraks gives solid ad while protecting vs burst and warmongs sustain has high value since wu has a rather easy way out of fights with W. Gargoyls just makes sure you live long enough in a teamfight to get you're second W after the engage. You can exchange one of the tanly items for duskblade to have more burst against squishys, supprisingly enough this built offers more burst than the 1v1 built mostly because titanic actually is broken... This built has a solid laneingphase vs melees thx to grasp+Q and is rather flexible, he becomes a potent duelist with good waveclear, hard to burst and still strong in teamfights. Just don't expect to solocarry in the same way a full damage ape could do.

And no matter what, MAX Q, not E, ever since the nerfs, E is rather weak to max whilw Q does little if left on rank 1.. switching it up allows to harras with maxrange Qs rather than going all in with E which is alot better for most of his toplane matchups, and the lower Cd on later ranks for Q even gives more dps in all-ins since getting of 1-2 extra Qs is tronger than the bit extra AS on higher E ranks. Actually, other than the little bit extra waveclear through hitting 3 targets, maxing E now is flat out worse than Q. Q gains 30damage+0.1 total ad ratio per rank, which even with lvl 1 base ad is more than the 35 that E now gets, while also getting more armorshred and alot less CD(rank 5 Q is nearly on half the CD of rank 1 Q) IF you're confident in surviveing the lane well, you can go dark harvest on the second two builts for a stronger lategame.

I'm still taking him mid as I have been, but yea... Top lane Wukong is just... T_T Luckily my build was never full AD anyway, so I'm pretty much unperturbed by the changes for the most part. Hooray for off meta builds!

Try to play smart and safe early game

This is how you know it was STUPID OP

I'll take it in a few matches and see how it goes.

French Courtesan8/24/2018, 9:13:56 AM1 votes

how about you pick champion that is actually mechanically challenging and start climbing because of your actual skill rather than bullshit oneshot?

Guzergus8/23/2018, 2:53:12 PM1 votes
  1. Start playing Wu in the jungle.

I'm surprised anyone would pick wu top. That's like deliberately making yourself suffer at lane.

Do you actually need to finish warrior? I think i saw a wukong just get the basic part and then go straight for lethality into stormrazor.

And triforce is more of a duelist thing i think.....not sure if you should actually finish it anytime before 5th or 6th slot.
