Did support suddenly get popular overnight?

I've played four games today and they've all been jungle. Jungle is my secondary, support is my primary. I just wanna play some support I'm sick of jungle!

The issue is not support being more popular. The issue is jungle becoming so unpopular that you are more likely to become auto filled jungle than support. Because of the scuttle crab change and nerf to xp, if you don’t pick the meta junglers, you are guaranteed to have a bad time.

It's more or less because these days you can get away with '''''supporting''''' full AP Lux Velkoz so you don't have to constantly suck the ADC's dick for 45 minutes.

Adc/mage meta, I would still rather jungle than deal with the jerks you get stuck with in bot lane. I love how it cool for a support to go mage, assassin or whatever they want, yet I get stuck as adc and I go off meta, end of fucking world.

People have been mage supporting since at least season 5. That's 4 years ago. This shit isn't new.

Probably the popularity in supports not playing a true support role i.e; Sion MasterYi Gone are the days where a true support that helps get the ADC fed. Rather you get poked out of lane by AP champs who would normally be a solid pick for mid.

New runes and Spellthiefs are the culprit. Before mages couldn't support well due to needing ap, cdr, and mana from items to be able to do anything in lane. Now they have Spellthiefs, Transcendence, Manaflowband, etc. that eliminate their weaknesses. Spellthiefs line has been broken for awhile now compared to the other two support items, but mage mains cry whenever riot nerfs their items so riot cant really do anything about it

Had same prob when I was queing adc/jg. JG is just annoying af to play atm, and what's worse is its changing way to much for most people to want to keep up with. Swapped my secondary to mid and haven't actually had a single game as mid lol.

It's simply because support has least punishment if died. imagine what happened if jungle died? the flames from the teammates especially ADC lol

Depends on how they died, if jungler dies when his laners warned him they don't have lane priority in advance before he makes his stupid move, then it's deserved no questions asked.

I can play any role so i chose "Fill". Most of the time i get filled as Support - but there's times when i get filled other roles multiple times in a row (mostly ADC, sometimes Top and rarely jungle - but almost never Mid).

Tho, I play in EUNE.

No matter how many shields and heals i put on adc and ccs i land on enemies, the adc still manages to die.

I think it has been popular since one of the missions that was released for council,at least one of the councils, is to heal 8500 health in a win. Easiest way to do it is play support
