The fact that people only ever get autofilled to bot says a lot.

I don't know if there are any hard numbers for what roles get autofilled the most, but I'm ready to assume that ADC is #2 behind Support, because ADC is the only role besides Support that I have ever heard of anyone getting autofilled to. Support being the most autofilled role makes sense. People come to this game with the mindset that this is a multiplayer action game, and support is the role which fundamentally is the least effective at interacting with enemies by itself. Therefore, most people won't want to play support. But ADC is quite literally the opposite. Its the role which is typically the best at impacting the game through damage. So the fact that its relatively common to get autofilled to ADC says quite a lot about the general playerbase's dissatisfaction with the current dynamics of playing botlane.

So what reasons, besides the ones inherent to the lane, do people have for not wanting to play ADC and Support? I would guess, based on my own experiences, that its not a problem of the champions being unsatisfying to play as, but rather being abysmal to play against. The inherent lack of counterplay to an ADC's damage pattern makes wins feel unearned and loses feel bullshit. But beyond just ADCs in general, bot lane is home to a number of the most frustrating and least interactive champions in the game, and even worse, most of them are comparatively strong. Sona, Janna, and Soraka are the big historical offenders, though that's not to say tank or mage supports can't be a problem in this regard (cough cough Leona Zyra cough).

If you have any other ideas as to what makes these roles, ADC in particular, so unpopular, feel free to post.

I always get autofilled JG lol

Ill tell you why, because the general mentality of "lol adc just rite clik to penta" makes people think it's super ez from the start. Then you lane against 2 lane bullies like leona and Draven and get wreckt because right clicking doesnt work. Add to having every other lane come to a drive by to kill you under your turret. Add having to learn how to work with a support which is a very important thing in bot.

Suddenly it's not as shallow as "lul just right click" and it has different layers.

I've had many friends turned off by adc simply because they hate working with a support, or hate having everyone sneeze at them early mid game and they blow up without peel.

I always get autofilled top, even when queuing as mid/support

There are very good reasons that they're unpopular that have nothing to do with playing against adcs.

Support is for macro-oriented and playmakers. A lot of people don't care about this and just want to enjoy killing stuff. Jungle allows the option of both macroplay AND killing stuff, but support does not.

ADCs are an unpopular role because (try it), half the time you will have an abysmal support, and you're stuck relying on them. Your team will often all go squishies with no peel and then flame you for 'not kiting' well enough when every ult on the enemy team is thrown at you as you are the priority target. Additionally it's mechanically intensive; adcs rarely have an AOE ability to clear minions or camps with and kite between every auto, it's tiring.

A final factor is it's a duo lane. If we're in bot, we generally enjoy company and are forgiving of mistakes: If you can not tolerate people interfering with your plays or messing up, you will hate botlane with an intense passion.

being when u play bot you have to face the enemy adc, and you likely have an autofilled support. and you are going to get ganked nonstop as w/e adc wins wins the game for the the VAST majority of the time

i say this as a support secondary.. i pretty much have to turn down a freind request from every adc i get put with.

Marksman and support may be the two easiest roles in the game right now, but they start out in the hardest lane in League history. There are so many shenanigans bot and it's tough to deal with all of them and then still have a semblence of farm. Marksmen have a giant target painted on their back with all the damage scaling and supports have an extremely difficult time laning against eachother. Some might call it "just desserts" for either after last season but all in all it's a miserable experience for most, especially those less familiar with botlane. People that aren't familiar with it stick out like a sore thumb and feed helplessly.

I miss when the likes of Soraka didn't deal damage in lane and her bananas were her famous form of harass. I also miss when marksmen didn't deal "burst ranged dps". Less damage dealt from either class would result in a healthier state of botlane.

I mean i'm a support main and i've got auto filled to jungle the most when i'm trying out new things.

ADC is unpopular because it's just as dependent on a team as a support is

your support decides your lane often and even in the lategame, you aren't going to 1 v 5 if the enemy team is well rounded and competent compared to yours. you're food for an assassin, and to everyone else, the champion everyone jumps on to kill or crowd control first.

oh and often times in soloQ your team does not give a hoot about you or your well being, but they for some reason expect you to get fed and carry fights despite of this.

My problem is that you call it ADC instead of bot (since that's what people queue for, and support is considered separate from bot in terms of map position). That makes it boring AF if you ask me, due to the lack of flexibility. If more mages/fighters/tanks/etc were viable in the bot lane position, you'd have more people willing to play it since they wouldn't have to use an entirely different playstyle if they don't usually play marksman.

Hmm, donno, jungle and sup seems the most easiest to get into

I'm mainly a main ADC, the reason I don't really like playing as ADC atm without a premade is because you are the most important player and your sup usually is autofilled vs a duo bot (since that's the prefered duo lane) that has synergy and for some reasons, half the game mid feeds and without a proper sup I get deleted. Getting a doran lux, or a blitz that never engages vs a lulu or a sona is no fun

I'm not so sure about this. From my 1st, 2nd and 3rd-hand experiences, players generally get autofilled Jungle 2nd-most after Support. Mayhaps it just seem like your ADCs are autofilled because they're bad at ADC, but they're queuing for it regardless because #ADCMeta

I play Support/Bot and I do flip them around occasionally. I get autofilled mid/top in the rare 100 so odd games if my protection is for some reason off.

General Esdeath 11/17/2017, 10:24:54 AM1 votes

I think most people don't want to play support because it gets the most flak while dealing the least damage (traditionally). Also I get filled to support the most, then jungle, then adc, and mid once.

Just talking about what you wrote regarding supports:

Supports ARE the least interactive role rn. It's recovering but you can thank the retarded Ardent meta we had.

I don't like playing adc or support because I feel like I don't have as much control because it's played with another person, which means lots of miss communications and just bot Lane being unable to shut up after dying once. I like adc Champs and support champs to but I don't like duo laning. Pretty much can't enjoy those roles unless it's a premade.

Siyther11/17/2017, 11:37:24 AM1 votes

its straight up, that ur entire laning phase is reliant on other person. No one likes to have their game ruined by a shit adc/ support and well 9 times out of ten its just that they arent on the same page. I love playing support in any other game but i hate it in league.

scribbles78211/17/2017, 11:55:16 AM1 votes

Since Riot knows I like bot now, I'm only filled to jg rather than bot. Thanks for making me continue hating myself! :D

HarrowR11/17/2017, 2:52:12 PM1 votes

Because even with all the whiny adcs are op posts,80% of league player base never plays adc cause they then realize they suck at the role and go 0/10,they dont know how to 2v2 lane, they dont know how to position, they dont know how to kite, they dont know how to handle 1/2 of their health being chunked by a supports basic ability and they don't know how to handle being the target the enemy team wants dead the most, and will bend over backwards to get to you,so yeah, winning with an adc, contrary to your statement feels the most satisfying to me,it feels like i've done everything right,as opossed to winning with Maoakai, where you can fall a sleep on your keyboard and still tank 10k dmg and kill 3 people,or Talon/Zed with which you can one shot anyone you want whenever you want, yeah, that doesnt feel very rewarding,it feels dirty

nm101011/17/2017, 1:28:21 AM1 votes

I literally got autofilled to top twice today.
