Riot... Thunderlors... Fucking...

How are you so bad at this. After 6 years, you don't get better at balancing things, you get worse.

Everyone in my games, EVERYONE is running this stupid mastery. Tops, mids, junglers, SUPPORTS! Fucking supports are running this thing because it is just so much stronger than any other option for 95% of champions.

I'm running it on Jarvan even though objectively everything else in the defensive tree is better except for the utterly worthless keystones. Sure, I'd love to have more defensive stats, except oh wait, no I wouldn't because I still get completely deleted by 3 shots from the Vayne running thunderlords in the late game. So why shouldn't I just run it myself and kill her before she kills me.

Team fights aren't fun when they last exactly however long it takes for the entire team to just click all of the things on whoever gets picked, and that's all I've done for what feels like the past 10 games. Someone gets picked, INSTANT deletion.

There is no skill in that game play. There is no room for people to make plays because ANYONE can be killed by a team alpha strike when the ENTIRE team is running this stupid keystone.

You have this idea that if you just give people more passive abilities it will lead to greater choice instead of just number crunching to find the best option... But let me tell you what should be fucking obvious by now... THIS IS A GAME ABOUT DOING NUMBERS TO PEOPLE! The guy who can do more numbers to the other guy is the one who's going to win... And EVERY skill can be boiled down to numbers. That's all it is. Stop fucking around with the under the hood numbers in order to try and create diversity. It's champion kits that create diversity and the necessary fact that no two players can use the same two champions at the same time. What more goddamn diversity do you want? You have a million champions. They're all very very cool. Stop breaking your game trying to cram diversity down our fucking throats. Give me some starting armor, some starting AD, some starting MR AND I'M HAPPY! I don't want or need 4 more fucking passives that I need to keep track of on myself and on ALL the enemies.

FUCKING STOP!

I almost always take grasp top lane. The 100 HP of difference (+50 for you -50 for enemy) that a grasp proc creates early game is huge compared to 50 damage from thunderlord's.

Nope, you're wrong, and here's why.

Because I push you early, get level 2 first and zone you off the minions. You don't count as being in combat so you don't GET a proc but the second you walk up to a minion, I hit you with my full level 2 combo and either kill you or drop you so low you have to base.

From there, it doesn't matter that your numbers might be better cause I made you base at level 1 and you lost the first 2 waves of minions for no loss to myself.

It depends on what champ you are using IMO. If they could push fast and get fast 2 with thunderlord's they could've done it without the 10 extra damage at level 1.

Think about what an aoe magic damage burst does for a primarily ad fighter/caster/whatever. It gives you a hybrid source of damage and it does it on a 3 hit proc. This means that any champion with 2 damage dealing spells and an auto attack that they can reasonably hit (And even most 1 damaging spell with a hydra proc) can get instant value out of this. It provides multiplicative scaling for raw damage to a degree that is simply unmatched by anything in the tanking side of things. Doing an extra 30% of your ad into your burst combo is a SHIT LOAD more than the 6% reduction you get from bond of stone and as I mentioned, if you are being bursted than sustain is irrelevant because you don't get to reply. If you get picked against a thunderlords team, you JUST DIE. Because everyone is doing more burst damage. It doesn't matter that you are tanky. It doesn't matter that you get to vamp hp back because in the 4 seconds it takes for you to proc a grasp, YOU HAVE BEEN KILLED.

Push early, get ganked by the jungler who uses Thunderlord's a lot more effectively, complain about how OP it is, TP back to lane, enemy now has HP advantage.

Go lux. Level 1 guranteed thunderlord procs with EAA.

TeCoolMage1 votes

Yeah but that would mean playing lux top and moving the tank elsewhere.

Are you saying lux isnt a midlaner? o.O'

No I'm saying this only applies to top lane -.-

It's SO GOOD that nobody is picking anything else.

Lux with windspeakers.... My heart nearly stopped working

TeCoolMage1 votes

;) W the whole team twice for double MR and Armour

Unward491 votes

I wouldn't be surprised if thunderlords is better on yasuo in a lot of matchups. Basically, anyone who intends to build any ad at all should run thunderlords. If you aren't intending to build ad, then how do you intend to win in this meta? Therefore, always go thunderlords.

TeCoolMage1 votes

By building hybrid, on hit or attack speed... None of which scale with Thunderlord's passive...

In other words: Kog'Maw Fervor of Battle for life

Unward491 votes

Or, we could all go thunderlords and just kill any stupid fool who thinks he can play a tank in this meta.

Then proceed to get stomped by the support with Windspeaker's blessing healing up over 900.

Then proceed to get stomped by the support with Windspeaker's blessing healing up over 900.

If you heal someone for 1000 hp in a teamfight (unlikely if you aren't Soraka) Windspeaker's will add 100 health

Thunderlord's on the other hand is doing at 150-250 magic damage depending on who takes it, and it's all frontloaded

TeCoolMage1 votes

I meant 9000

Healing isn't modified by MR so if we do the math:

(10-180) + 30% AD + 10% AP 30 MR vs 500 AD -> (7-126) + 105 30 MR vs 1000 AP -> (7-126) + 70

So it's actually closer to 50-200 magic damage depending on who takes it.

At least that's how I think it is, I wish AD was as clear as AP and the threshold for 'a ton' (1k for AP) was clear. I think most games should have 200-500 AD?

Very people seem to have realized how strong that mastery is. But it is going to become a must-have or get nerfed is people start realizing it.

AHeroNamedHawke1 votes

Dont worry OP

Half the people on this board are delusional and dont think Thunderlord's is a problem when it's 7/10 keystones a game

They're still complaining about Yasuo while Brand and Lux are sitting at +55% win rates, and probably still think Darius is overpowered

EcchiOtakuTM1 votes

Grasp of undying still better on Tanks aside from zac where thunderlord is only better while jungling

Fervor is still better on duelist/skirmishers

They should rework the warlord bloodlust to just be damage cause as of this time it's just a noob trap

DFT is still better for DoT/Sustain DPS mages only

Stormraider needs a slight buff or rework it's only useful for repositioning type champs in late game useless for early/somewhat mid tho

windspeaker still best on heal supports/vlad

Strength of the ages is just a noob trap, needs a rework or buff

Bond of bros might need a nerf revert but atm it's still better on tank supports

TeCoolMage1 votes

Despite what people think, DFT works with Cassiopeia's E, Ryze's Q and Karthus's Q just as well as it does with DoT. It has an extra second of damage and they're spam able enough to constantly keep it up, sometimes longer than DoT champs who have long cooldown DoT. Any ability that deals consistent damage can work, not always just DoT

Stormraider's brings mobility back to mages who don't need DFT and kill regardless of Thinderlords (VEIGAR!)

EcchiOtakuTM1 votes

Cassi/Karth are sustain dps which I forgot to mention.

Ryze is somewhat sustain DPS as well but i haven't played him in awhile, but since he does stack mana more than AP he might be better off just going thunderlord for the base damage instead of DFT since he doesn't have heavy AP stats.
