IMO Darius needs a retuning, but not a "nerf"
Or rather, a nerf to mostly/full-tank builds and a buff to incentivize building at least one AD-heavy item (like going back to Ravenous Hydra for example) by making either his heal or his passive steroid scale with large sums of bonus AD.
This way he's forced to be squishier if he wants a stronger heal and more damage, but he'll scale harder because he's getting more damage
Darius... has a a lot of base life. With no life items, assuming, say, 100 life, his heal is 252. That's reasonable. Unless you hit three people - then it's 756.
His base AD is also exceptionally high - 140 at lvl 18.
Ult damage is insane - with only 100 bonus AD, and 5 stacks, it does 1406.25 True Damage to a target.
It's not exactly hard to get 5 Hemorrhage stacks.
Therefore, my only solution? Poke him at range. Don't let him get close to you.
He should either get a base stats nerf, have all his damaging skills scale on bonus AD instead of AD, forcing him to actually buy AD items. If you want his Q to give him heals, why not make it apply life-vamp? His Q does tons of damage - 356 BASE at lvl 18 (including the 140 base AD), and that's just the handle. Aaaaaaaaaaaand that's not including the passive, which is 57 more, for a grand total of 750 at the blade.
Let's look at another comparison - Garen. If you have a better one, please tell me.
Garen has 134 base AD. Not only that, his Q - well, it actually does scale on 140% AD. But it doesn't heal, have a 5 second cooldown, or do AoE. The silence mechanic is only for 1.5 seconds, and by the time Garen get's to his target, most skills will already have been cast. Anyway, assuming Garen is also lvl 18, with no bonus AD, his Q will do... 316 damage. Ok, that's pretty strong, but it's not AoE, and has a lower cooldown. It also doesn't have potential to do double damage (not even if he crits). And Garen has one of the highest base AD in the game, though it's still less than Darius. I guess Darius just attacks really slow.
But wait - there's more. Mordekaiser has a base AD of 146. As well as higher initial AD. E and Q both scale on base AD, though the ratio's are quite a bit lower. Thing is, it looks like he can keep his Q pretty much forever, but he lacks the slow to get all three auto's off.
