Taliyah Feedback: I appreciate that you tried not having W vector cast, but it's a mistake

I've been playing with Taliyah in a few comp games. I have to say, after seeing how fluid it is to cast Viktor's laser vs the irritation I still feel at casting her W, please make W a vector-cast spell. I appreciate that you tried something new, but it is the wrong decision. Please change it to cast like every other directional ability in the game: Make it vector-cast. The double-click thing is disruptive and unintuitive.

I wonder if they could just make things like that optional.

I personally like the double click but some players won't. They should make it optional.

Why SMARTCASTING requires two button inputs is what drives me off the wall. At least make it use vector for that type of control like it's meant to.

That would actually make smartcasting slower than slowcasting in this case.

Is it killing you to have to click twice? you barely have to mouse from the w location to select a direction its so simple i dont see the isue

For a few reasons, yes.

-Zenon arbitrarily chose to create a new casting paradigm instead of using an established control scheme. -Taliyah's W is the ONLY skill in the game that requires two button presses in order to function using smart casting (which isn't a mobility spell with two very different functions like Leblanc, Zed, Fizz), making it very clunky for that control scheme. -Using W locks you out of using any other spell. -It's slower than vector targeting mechanically;

Button down>Button up>Move mouse>Button up>Button down vs; Button down>move mouse>Button up

Not only that, but vector targeting would ensure that partial spell success (i.e.: knock up without directional input) never happened unless the player truly desired it to.

The only problem I see it being vector cast would have to be you won't be able to use it as just a knock up anymore........ not like anyone even use it as just a knockup anyways

the man makes a good point

even though he's somewhat wrong since you sometimes just want the CC so you don't fuck up ally skillshots

why? release the key without leaving the W aoe ->straight knockup release the key outside the W aoe ->displace

I like the double click though

I find her unplayable because of how her W casts.

Love the P+Q+E+R but dat W ughck

I wouldn't care so much if the spell didn't silence herself when she casts it, which is apparently intentional. Makes her feel really clunky.

This so much.

XeroKimo1 votes

It's pretty much why if I have the intention of casting her W, I'd always insta cast a direction so I can follow up other skills as fast as possible

Evewynn1 votes

Actually, I'm pretty sure the lockout is the same either way. Might test that.

XeroKimo1 votes

So have you tested it? Cause I don't feel the lock out at all if I instant cast a direction

I just had the chance to play a couple of Taliyah games and the W was not as bad as I thought. I think it's just a matter of getting used to. Problem is mostly hitting it in the first place xD Perhaps better slow scaling on her unraveled earth would make this more consistent.

Rockman2 votes

It isn't that bad.

This absolutely is a problem with her gameplay flow.

The only thing I see from doing this is it makes Vel'Koz's E completely obsolete. I think vector casts are smart for obvious reasons, but fixing this problem pulls a Sona 2.0 with Vel'Koz.

The two aren't remotely similar. Taliya is a control mage who requires the W to land her E combo while Vel'koz is a burst mage who mixes true damage with magic damage. You don't pick either champion for their knockup.

... People play Vel Koz for his E? I mean it's fast unlike Taliyah W but they are extremely different champions.

Not sure about you guys but I think the W is easy to use after you play her for a few games

The reason it's not vector cast is because you don't have to choose a direction and can just knock somebody up. You don't have to always fling them somewhere.

That's not much an excuse for its rather clunky targetting paradigm though. Especially if you're used to smartcasting which requires only one input to cast literally every other spell but this one, it makes a champion who is already so heavily reliant on comboing really awkward to play and use.

Having at least a Vector-like targetting paradigm that lets you choose a direction by dragging when you cast would make her feel so much more intuitive. I appreciate that they wanted to try something different with her W, but her current cast paradigm is unintuitive and clunky, which is the exact opposite of what she needs.

I have always struggled with Viktor E, mostly because of the range, too many times it doesn't go off at all after I press it.

And I don't have any issue with Taliyah W , I just double tap, the same way you double tap something on a laptop.

So...

kaltenashes1 votes

i hate the double tap, took me ages to learn this double tap, not accustomed to this yet

i prefer viktors e

It's not only her W that's unintuitive. I feel like her ult is awkward to use, and for it's lack of damage should offer her an escape option, but as well as her Q zones. Riot never seems to learn how to tell when a skin literally buffs a champion by making their spells clearer.

I like her W. Viktor style skill shot is dumb. That shit was way too easy. So if it has a second delay? Play Orianna. Taliyah's W is pretty strong especially in team skirmishes (sort of like TF, her dueling power considerably rises with teammates around her in comparison to when they are alone). It is simply too easy to hit if it weren't the way it is now.

I just don't understand how they can balance her that way if they refuse to balance many other fotm champs.
