Yes you see this item? This very item granted many junglers and non-junglers a way to have HUGE champion variety. This item allowed you to smite only jungle camps, big monsters, Baron, Herald and Dragons, stun them and deal damage to all of them if they were 2 or more (same for minions). This item right here, is what opened a HUGE LOAD OF VARIETY!

Is this what Riot doesn't want? I, personally am tired of seeing Nidalee, Rek'Sai, Elise every game. Just make this item revive and we will have our jungle variety again.

Ranger's trailblazer was axed because it was just used by champions who already had fast clear times to give them even faster clear times, so there wasn't actually any variety.

I think that was/is more of an issue of overtuned junglers that stayed in that overtuned state both during and after the item was around.

Specifically what variety was caused by Trailblazer? In the state it was in when it was removed, absolutely no one bought it. You could say that it might have helped people who struggled early in the jungle, but:

those junglers would still have had to clear until they had 650 gold to buy it, and
those junglers would be weaker in combat as a result of buying it over blue/red smite

If someone needs Trailblazer to function as a jungler, I don't want them as my jungler.

Trailblazer enables many Champions to jungle who aren't meant to jungle. This leads to unfulfilled themes, unexpected and toxic playstyles, a la release Vi. Riot can't balance jungling around an item that makes jungling trivial for essentially any Champion.

It is, if you can clear faster that means you can do other things faster such as pressuring lanes or the enemy jungler thus keeping the entire enemy team even farther behind, not everything is about in-combat power. Not to mention when you're ready you can still swap with your huge advantage over the enemy team.

They added back in smite switching, so nid could buy purple (this one) for fast early clears, then switch it for the red one later.

You mean the same item where if any counter jungler had it would completely dominate the game? Plus with riot bringing back support junglers that item would be a nightmare for teams to face.
