Ranked. Why does first pick get all the ban decisions?

This really bothers me. Bans can make a difference in a match, and I really don't think all ban decisions should boil down to one person who gets first pick in ranked.

Obviously we're supposed to communicate within the team to discuss bans, but this is rarely the case. Why not instead let every other person get a ban pick? (1st, 3rd, 5th person)

At least this way the majority of the team gets at least one ban they prefer.

It's especially annoying in games where 1st pick just bans 3 counter champs to his comfort pick champ, without any regard to the team's choices or composition.

I mean at least let last pick get to pick the bans... why does first pick not only get to choose all 3 bans but also get first pick as well? Seems a bit lopsided.
