Syndra - Post-Worlds - Is she OP? - Proposed change
So,
has been a dominating pick at worlds. As a result, people now thinks she's OP.
Why I don't think Syndra is OP
- Her counterpicks are very weak atm
- A lot of champions were nerfed around her
- Syndra has been successful at worlds by having a lot of gank synergy with her long range stun
- Is Immobile and skill shot reliant, requires crucial positioning in teamfights and is kiting reliant
- Syndra has a very high playrate and a subpar winrate around 48.5% in solo queue (patch 6.20, a very balanced winrate for her playrate)
- Syndra scales worse than the average midlane mage in exchange to her early/midgame pressure
- Difficult to teamfight with properly
I also think it would be silly to nerf Syndra just before the Rylais changes and the assassins update.
Now, if Syndra were to get nerfed (since she is potentionally overtuned, which I don't think she is), she needs to have a compensation for it. In her current state, Syndra will definitely be underpowered if she is just straight-up nerfed. Nerfing her ultimate would seem like a good idea imo, but she needs to retain her kill pressure to remain a good pick, because there is no reason to pick Syndra over other mages if she doesn't have kill pressure.
In a world where Syndra is OP, here is my proposed change Q : Mana cost changed to 55/65/75/85/95 (up from 40/50/60/70/80) Q : New effect : Refunds 25 mana to Syndra on champion hit
This would nerf Syndra's waveclear (thus nerfing her roam potential) while lowering the room for error in her ball setup pre-ultimate (thus ''nerfing'' her ultimate by upping the cost of preparing it) while rewarding good Syndra players that hit more than 60% of their Qs (and punishing for missing too many Qs/rewarding players who dodge her Qs)).
