I feel like Aery is so much better than Arcane Vomit

While Aery does less damage per hit on a lower ratio, I feel like it is completely better than arcane comet:

Guaranteed to hit, so more champs can use it
Lower base cool down
You get a little buddy (as soon as riot fixes the FX bug)
Works on both damage champions, supports, and even rivens.
The damage does add up over time to be a non-trival amount

I mean compared to how lackluster Arcane Comet feels to use, Aery just seems more fun in game. Subjectively I feel like it's the better of the two keystones.

Arcane Comet works really well if you have a lot of spell hits to reduce the cooldown. Even if you don't have a lot of CC you should usually see a 80% hit rate or so. The only time I've seen a bad hit rate I was laning against Janna and she moves really fast so she dodged a lot of them. I still got like a 60% hit rate before laning ended.

Of course Aery is really strong too but I think if you have the means to significantly reduce the cooldown on Arcane Comet it will come out ahead.

I see where you are coming from, my concern is that spamming spells is kind of a bad idea unless you are on a manaless champ. Maybe in a teamfight you can do it, but generally you probably wouldn't.

Well in teamfights and all-ins you will be spamming stuff on cooldown or close to it (I mean of course sometimes you hold something for whatever reason) so Arcane Comet will perform better for those types of situations if you're playing a champ that can get a lot of spell hits, and that includes DoTs because even if it's reduced, it's still really good. For example, Malzahar's Malefic Visions ticks 8 times over its normal duration without accounting for the Q extension so even if it's 5% per tick it's better than most abilities.

Aery will of course give you more attrition damage and that might be better for some champs because of their general strategy or they lack the synergy with comet in the first place.

Aery is also more fun to use because you can run to it and use it faster. Arcan Comet is only for champions with CC like Malzahar. I think it should have a little higher scaling.
