I tested stuff with Ashe

Ashe I tested stuff with her. Here's what I found:

  1. Elixir of sorcery is on-hit, not on-attack, so you cannot insta-gib towers with 125 true damage per Q-charged attack at 2.5 attack speed. It would be fun for they day until she got patched, though, wouldn't it?
  2. Statikk Shiv charge-up, which I thought was an on-attack effect, only charges once per volley. So no proc'ing it every 2nd attack when under full-stack Q.
  3. CDR is really important on her. You want 40% so your Q is almost always available. It is both a damage and an attack speed steroid.
  4. To that effect, I highly recommend black cleaver on her. She will full-stack her target instantly.
  5. Runaan's Hurricane looks really cool, but it does crap damage because the side arrows cannot proc crit effects, so your passive is wasted. The one exception is that you can insta-stack black cleaver on the entire enemy team. I'm not sure it's worth it, though, since you will be able to basically instant-stack cleaver on your main target as soon as you switch.
  6. You cannot bring her crit chance damage over 100%. It is capped at 100 crit chance. (edit: I mean if your crit chance is 130%, you stop benefiting at 100% and waste 30% stats worth of gold)
  7. ALWAYS open with W. You want your targets slowed before you start hitting them.
  8. She sucks at dragon/baron because he cannot get frosted, so all the gold you spend on crit is completely wasted for those two objectives. She can, however, still stack her frost stacks, so she can proc a 40% AS/35% damage steroid on them on-cooldown (I re-tested this and was mistaken -- even though dragon did not show the debuff, it was still getting increased damage)

Some of this stuff might be obvious to some people, but it was helpful to me to test it, so I thought I'd share my findings.

How do the rapid fire arrows apply BORK? Do all the little runaan's bolts each proc BORK's on hit or only the first one?

UberAffe1 votes

From my pbe testing the runaan bolts all apply botrk but only the first one of her regular autos applied botrk. might have changed since then though.

Steelflame1 votes

They shouldn't be borking, considering how Hurra-shiv only builds 30 charges per AA instead of the "supposed" 110 it would be building if it worked that way. The secondary bolts look cool as hell, but they won't apply shiv charge-up, so it shouldn't apply BorK/Wits/Nashors/ect.

UberAffe1 votes

Well my testing was on the pbe, so it was probably just a bug while I was testing it then.

Duke Anax1 votes

Huh that's odd, Q doesn't apply on hits, but Runaan Bolts should apply them like always. The Rioter that worked on Ashe said so himself.

Nebuul1 votes

I did not test on-hit interaction with the hurricane bolts. It was already confirmed that Q didn't provide more than 1 on-hit effect per wave. I didn't think to test side bolts.

This isn't actually true. Dragon/Baron won't get the MS debuff or a debuff icon, but they certainly take more damage from hits after the first, and furor stacks apply as well. In other words, the debuff doesn't "apply", but they are still crit-able for the duration of Frost Shot as if it did.

Nebuul2 votes

Yeah, I retested and realized I was in error.

His Goatliness2 votes

So I've noticed that Infinity edge on Ashe doesn't seem to give her an extra 50% bonus, but just the 20% from the crit chance. Is this true or am I wrong? because it seems odd to me.

Zirket Was1 votes

strange, it should work. The formula for the extra damage i know is 10+ (crit chance * (1+crit damage))% AD

Nebuul2 votes

It worked fine when I checked it. I got to 100% crit chance with and without IE, and it made the damage % go up appropriately.

Normally, the damage % on passive is 10+chance. With IE, it is 10+(chance*1.5).

His Goatliness1 votes

Hm, thanks. I think I'll do the math just to make sure.

Edit: I tested it out. with 160 AD and no armor pen or extra crit chance I purchased an IE. My passive told me my crits would do 140% damage. on minions with 0 armor I did 164 non crit, and 231 with the crit. 1641.4=231. The way I am seeing it the 1.5 from the IE does not apply, only the 20% crit chance.

LegendaryLemur4 votes

This sounds like confirmation that the crit damage from IE is increasing your damage.

If it only applied the 20% from crit chance without the damage bonus you'd expect an increase of 10 (ashe's base bonus) + 20 (from IE's crit chance) = 30%

With the IE damage bonus you'd expect 10 (ashe's base bonus) + 20 (crit chance) * 1.5 (IE's 50% crit damage increase) = 40%,

which is the value you were seeing.

and it is exactly what the tootltip is showing too.

That's kinda brutal. This should also mean that Ashe has no hopes of ever fighting Yi or Olaf when their ults are up.

ItsStout3 votes

Nope- Yi and Olaf are only immune to the CC portion of Frost. Baron and Dragon are completely immune to debufs, which is why it doesn't work on them. She's fine against those two.

Nebuul7 votes

I just re-tested, and I was mistaken. Dragon, despite not receiving the debuff, was getting extra damage applied. Oops :-)

Baron of Bread1 votes

Have you tested her against Morg's Black Shield to see if it works through that?

Nebuul1 votes

Nope. You should try it out and post the results! :-)

R2D201 votes

It doesn't apply the slow or crit effect.

Taryn1 votes

I don't know if you've answered this yourself yet or not, but last night I played as a Morg support vs an Ashe and my Black Shield still stopped her debuff and my ADC didn't seem to be taking the extra damage. Of course this was during a game so I couldn't clarify but that's what it looked like.

BluePolarizer1 votes

Ashe never had a chance against Yi anyways though. Alpha strike dodge the arrow, get in her face, melt her in 5 autos.

El Condor Pasa1 votes

She had a chance with summoner 3. Don't know about now with the rework though.

To be fair both of them would shit on old Ashe anyway.

UberAffe1 votes

Unless there was a last minute change since i last played her on pbe crit damage modifiers can bring you above that 100% cap. IE will bring you to 110 + 150 if you have crit damage runes you can get it even higher.

El Condor Pasa1 votes

(TotalAD)x1.1+(TotalAD)x((CritChanceStat)x(1+(CritDamageStat)))

Crit damage is a separate multiplier from crit chance. Which means that after getting 100% crit chance the only way to get more damage is to get crit damage.

UberAffe1 votes

normally it is, but at least when I tested on the pbe I got her passive to 110 (+ 155) have they changed that?

El Condor Pasa1 votes

Did you have 5% crit damage from runes?

UberAffe1 votes

yes, minus crit damage runes it was capped at 110 (+ 150)

Duke Anax1 votes

Ashe has an extra 10% damage from the passive itself.#

so that was actually 10% + 100% + (100% * 155%)

UberAffe1 votes

the bonus doesn't get effected by crit damage though

Duke Anax1 votes

no, if it would, you'd be seeing 110+165 or 110+170,5 which you don't. So it's correctly capped at 100 from items.

Poptart Evelynn1 votes

item 2139 has a 5 sec cd on turret hits bonus damage. You are better off with item 2137 .

CDR is situational.

On hits only apply on the first part of the attack not every every arrow from Q.

Starting Q is much better for level 2 rush so that you can have 5 focus stacks up at level 2.

item 3085 is an amazing item on ashe for it procs up her Q in one auto and a W.

Her Q is great for baron/dragon.

I find some of your tests lacking actual testing skill to make it work.

Nebuul8 votes

Sorcery elixir has no cooldown vs towers, only champions.

I'm fully aware that on hit effects only apply to the first arrow, I was checking on attack effects (such as the hurricane arrows).

There is no need to buy runaans to fast stack Q, since even with 40%cdr, you will only have about 40% up time, AND you can build stacks constantly even when firing empowered arrows. Plus one shot of W can easily net you 5 stacks since each target hit gives one.

I commented that Q is great for Dragon/Baron. The focus of the comment, which you missed, is that she doesn't crit them. (edit: was mistaken about this. she does get bonus damage vs them)

You should work on your own competency before insulting others' skills.

Takhuan1 votes

What are you talking about crit chance damage? Crit damage is separate from crit chance.

Nebuul18 votes

Not on Ashe now. They are used together to give her a flat damage increase on frosted targets

XeroKimo2 votes

You should edit your crit thing tho, if she has IE, she will be able to get up to 150% crit bonus dmg

Nebuul2 votes

That is not crit chance.

XeroKimo1 votes

I never said crit chance I just said crit damage as you have it says 100% CRIT CHANCE DAMAGE but with IE you can get it to 150% CRIT CHANCE DAMAGE in total

Nebuul1 votes

The crit damage modifier is separate from the crit chance damage modifier. On Ashe, crit chance translates to a flat percentage damage increase. With 100% crit chance, you will have a 100% crit chance damage modifier. With 150% crit chance, you will still have a 100% crit chance damage modifier. Then, you take your crit chance damage modifier and multiply it by your crit damage modifier.

E.g. If you are at 10% crit chance damage, and you have 10% crit damage from runes, your total bonus damage per attack on a frosted target will be 21% (10 base + (10% chance damage x 110% crit damage))

If you are at 100 crit chance with IE, you will do 160% (10 + (100% x 150%)) bonus damage per attack.

Sizebot1 votes

Do you feel like her new Q is worth maxing first over W?

Linna Excel1 votes

Pants are Dragon (challenger level youtuber) says max Q first for trading.

Nebuul1 votes

Yeah, defiantly max q first. It isn't even a contest.

Saminus Maximus1 votes

One thing you forgot to mention. The volley doesn't charge statikk, however hurricane bolts do. Ashe's q fires off multiple bolts per attack and so should charge statikk much faster than normal when she has hurricane. Will have to test to be sure.

Nebuul1 votes

Hurricane only gives the standard 20 extra stacks per volley. I tested it. No statikk shiv uber builds :-(

I honestly don't see the value in building cleaver. It costs 3000 gold and gives less pen than a last whisper even at full stacks.

Nebuul1 votes

It is because of the 20% cdr. Her Q has a max availability of 4 sec up, 7 sec down with 40% cdr. Q buff is HUGE (40% AS + 35%AD).

Also cleaver helps your whole team, and Ashe can apply it even faster than Urgot.

agbudar1 votes

i knew about all of it but not 6 thanks item 3072 item 3031 item 3046 item 3046 item 3046 item 3009 scrapped
