One single champion isn't a reason not to change rylai's

Listen, I get it. Some champs have a core item. So when that core item's future is in question, people get nervous over what's going to happen to their mains. However when that item is a little more common than it should be because it has a lot of good stats, you've got to start thinking about the bigger picture.

Let's be clear, Mordekaiser who is one of the least played champs needs another rework (a big one) and rylai's is a tad bit OP (I'd say by about 20 AP) and is being picked up quite a bit by a lot of AP mages. He is about as common as the likes of galio and kalista (both are champs who need big reworks). He's just not a good justification for not tweaking rylai's even if I think mana/cdr is the wrong path for the item. Rylai's is more commonly picked up in ranked more morellonomicon, which should be the first buy on most mages in the game.

Except in bronze... Bronze is actually doing the traditionally right thing and just barely buying morellonomicon more. I guess they don't know that rylai's is a little OP right now.

Anyways, I digress. Now a good defense for not tweaking rylai's would be because nobody really picks it up that often. It's not an item that's being particularly abused. Right now rylai's is one of the best situational items, but it is just that on most champs: situational. I'd argue that rylai's isn't the problem, it's just that people are put in situations where they need it quite often. Mainly against champ who can burst you down in a second and you need that extra 400 HP; you get that buffer and a slow which gives you a chance to escape/survive.

Let's face it, RoA sucks as an anti burst item because if you need to survive burst in the early to mid game, the thing hasn't fully stacked. You need a plan B and right now, rylai's is that plan B so you don't feed (as much).

Remember when mages never built Rylais? Oh, so do I. It was the item had less AP and mages were more focused on using their spells for multiple rotations rather than having short fights because they could just burst the fuck out of anything they touch.

So........ never? At least never at any point when I played (shortly before Lucian's release?)

Remember AP totals are LOWER than they ever previously were (except for when certain items flat out didn't exist). Rylais isn't causing people to burst any harder than they would've previously (infact, in previous seasons you could debateably have been hit harder than you get hit now, albeit thunderlords didn't exist then and I can't do the kind of hardcore number crunching to prove anything substantial so i'll leave it at that.)

while i agree with your statement that 1 champion isn't enough to change item 3116 And i agree rylias IS an issue.. it is ONLY an issue on champs who can perma-slow with it

all it really needs is a cooldown per target like RekSai knockup has

something between 3-5 seconds. i think its core stats are fine.

and its is extremely important for a lot of champs and are not remotely broken with it... it is only broken on the people who can perma-slow with it.

so THAT's the issue we need to address
