Something to consider about trolls/ragers/AFKers
We see a lot of posts complaining about people trolling, raging, or AFKing, and the usual responses are just "yeah, that sucks" and "Riot is/isn't doing as much as they can." However, there's something I don't think most people consider when they think about this issue: If you aren't raging/trolling/AFKing, and you aren't behaving in such a way as to induce your teammates to do so, then these behaviors actually have a positive impact on your winrate in the long term. There are 5 members on the other team, and only 4 (besides you) on yours, so if one random person (other than you) is behaving badly, the odds are 56% that the person is on the other team. Of course, you're more likely to notice such a player if they're on your team, which probably impacts people's perceptions.
A caveat is that in the short term, these behaviors definitely can impact your winrate negatively; a little math indicates that it takes over 400 games (of people raging/trolling/AFKing) for the odds to drop below 1% that you would lose more than you win because of this. Still, it definitely helps me to be less upset when I remember that in the long run, you'll actually win more games because of these behaviors so long as you don't contribute to them.
