more mgae-like characteristics in varus?

Varus can have more depth in his kit to compliment his secondary role and to providing a distinction between other marksman and him.

So I was thinking of the idea of having a built in in his kit.

Example:

Passive: Blight

Varus sacrifices 8/10/12/14/16/18 mana to inflict 10 (+ 0.10/0.125/0.15/0.175/0.20 AD)(+0.02 max mana) magic damage and a stack of blight per auto-attack. Varus's abilities activate these stacks (max: 5 stacks ), dealing 2%/2.5%/3%/3.5%/4% of the targets current Health in magic damage per stack, and refunding the ability's mana cost plus 3%/4%/%5%/6%/7% of his missing mana per stack

thoughts?

basically, allowing him to be more aggressive which is risky for him

I'd build muramana on top of muramana and kill everything in one shot or go oom in just a few. I do think that his W needs more to it, but I don't know if this is the right thing.

well, in order to do that you would need to be up close and personal which isn't good for varus. I would suspect his range to be nerfed if this was the case.

Its better than spamming Arrow at max range though, which is his current state

also, he would be purely mid game because of item 3070 . I mean, correct me if I am wrong but, in this case, his laning phase would be decent and he would have to risk being up close with and personal in teamfights/late game

no thanks.

I'd rather have Riot stop being lazy by pretending they don't have work to do just because he does fine in mid. Hopefully with the new itemization he can go bot lane and build as an ad carry/caster.

EDIT: updated the post so he goes plus on refunding the mana cost of an ability.

150% mana refund mid game, and later on a 180% mana refund .

what do you guys think of his E?

Do you think the width of the Q skill shot should be thinner if this was the case for varus?

would really like a healthy discussion

Honestly I think he's fine as he is, and I really wouldn't want to have this version of Blight either. I prefer the version where you shred max health instead of current health, as it feels a lot more satisfying that way. <3
