Why is allied minion block a thing?

What reasons led to riots decision against allowing us permanent ghosting through our own minions?

Because certain champions in a melee vs melee matchup can harras the other one without any possible retaliation because your are standing in your minion wave.

This is the reason hecarim got his ghost passive removed, he could stand in his minion wave and Q the enemy all day long.

Or in a melee vs ranged matchup: the ranged champion can stand in his minion wave and attack the enemy melee, the melee cannot attack back since he gets creep blocked by enemy minions.

because a melee vs ranged matchup isn't already unfair enough to the melee champion already... (with a FEW exceptions)

Its because if you were able to walk on friendly minions you could potentially block CS from enemies bye standing on the minions and making the person attack you.

Few things, one it adds a sense of realism to the game. Now this isn't always good however by adding it in it does add another layer of depth to the game. Two, changing that would drastically hurt champs who have skillshots that don't go through minions, probably a lot more than you foresee. Off the top of my head Ezreal would probably drop to about corki level of pick rate just because his Q becomes useless for harass during laning phase. Lastly is that manipulating waves is a mechanic in LoL. Even in Silver/Bronze I shift around minions walking to lane to either push the wave towards me or against me.

(For those confused about the ranking I listed myself as I am technically Bronze 1 this season but very rarely play ranked. Last season I hit Silver 2 while also playing a fairly low amount of games. Realistically if I cared about rankings I could probably grind my way to low Gold over a season.)

There is nothing realistic about your allies doing everything they can to restrict your movement from point A to point B on a battlefield

Surprise surprise not being able to walk through people on a regular basis is normal. Also trust me, that is VERY normal. If you understand how medieval battles worked you wouldn't argue that point. People would end up crushed against their enemies, both unable to so much as swing their weapons at each other due to the pressing mobs on all sides.

You ever wonder why out of the hundreds of people who gathered on battlefields with dreams of glory so few ran when they actually had to face the horror of battle? It was because they were literally incapable of it. Everyone behind them would keep pressing them forward until one side signaled a retreat or was wiped out to the point where their front line had nothing supporting them.

Of course that is a bit different than LoL. Let me put it this way. Imagine you were walking around in a game. You are walking through a city, being all "Oh wow, this is super realistic and in depth...." Then you walk straight through a vendor's stand like it isn't there. That is immersion breaking because it doesn't make sense in the rules of the world. The same is true in LoL. Plus you kinda just ignored all my points about the strategy involved with minion control and how that adds to gameplay.

Or they could just FIX how bad minion block has gotten. There is no reason, and no excuse for it to be this bad and wonky, and for so long now since the last time they "fixed" it.

League either needs no minion block at all (allied and enemy) or minion block to stay in the game.

I like to freeze lane with anivia. I put up a wall and stand in the open space to keep minions from going forward. other people do similar things to keep lanes manipulated. Im pretty sure that was the intent of it. Not to mention it would make the game unnecessarily easier.
