new conditions for assists
Vision wins wars. However, Riot is hesitant to grant assists for vision contributions due to cheese like tossing down a ward for free assists during a fight. So, here I propose the testable conditions for which providing vision of an enemy should grant an assist to the person providing vision:
- if the vision provided by a player was the only sight of an enemy champion for up to one second before that champion entered combat with the allied team that results in said champion's death
- if, during combat with the enemy champion that ends in said champion's death, vision provided by a player at any moment is the only vision revealing the enemy. Note that, for this condition, it does not matter if the vision is from chasing, wards, or abilities. I think that tracking down players so that it is possible to kill them is important
There is one other situation that currently does not provide assists that I believe should, and that is tanking/baiting.
- if an allied champion is taking damage from an enemy champion during combat that leads to said enemy champion's death, and the allied champion survives, that champion should receive an assist
I can't tell you how many times as sion I've had situations where I'm kiting enemies back to my team using W that gets popped, then I herd the enemy team with a while my team flanks and kills them. If I don't get done damage in, I get no assist even if I took literally 100% of the allied damage take in the fight. The same goes for gank situations where a mage class character baits an assassin into the turret or allied jungler and gets them killed. I only think, though, that the assist in this case should be granted if the allied champ is still alive at the time of the enemy champion's demise.
edit: matt class? should have been mage class
