A very simple quesiton.
Why does trist's jump reset? Does it need to?

It's the tiny bit of skill expression she actually has in her kit and it's not the main issue with her.

And I'm 100% okay with her having this reset if it didn't eat CC.
It doesn't have any kind of CC negating effect to it. All it is is the same thing that effects any other ability with a cast time animation. You can CC her during the jump perfectly fine, and you can land it early before the jump. But if she times it right to have the cast animation during the moment the CC hits, the animation carries through and the CC is dealt at the landing location

That's mainly what my problem with that is as well as other champs, getting cc'd during any point of a jump/dash should stop you unless it's something like Shyvana ult or something that makes you unstoppable. Just feels really really shitty when you're playing like a support and they jump away just to be CC'd a mile away from you.
I understand why it's there and it will probably never change but it is extremely frustrating beyond all hell when it happens.
Her kit is vastly outdated, so naturally there will be some archaic design in it. If she ever gets a GU someday (she doesn't need a full VGU), maybe they'll take that reset out or integrate it into some sort of non-binary synergy.
