Sightstone "enchantments" proposal for season 5 !

Hello fellow supp , and non supps! With season 5 ahead, the preseason is not boding well for the suppprt class. With the dragon no longer giving global gold, siege minion spawning more often and granting more gold laners, the gap between laners and supps is once again a gashing, rotting wound. Especially with tank supports who get literally zero from the first dragon(because 0,08 per 0 equals 0. And with most tank you never buy AD or AP, so your only buff is the fifth dragon stack).

The new line of Machete Items , however, grants some hope: a similar solution keeps track of the item buyer's summoner spell, and it wouldn't be hard, with some changes, to introduce a similar mechanics to supports.

For supports, the sightstone enchant would only be purchasable with the shared gold gained from one of the support item, to avoid abuse, and fortify the identity of the enchant as a boon to players who share lane. For example, if you have 400 gold, and 200 gold from the support item, you wouldn't be able to enchant your sightstone if the enchant costs more than 200. It's not about the support itself , more about "you get these enchants because you are sharing a lane instead of farming". Also, rather than raw stats, the enchant would give "bonuses" ;similar to the first line of machete upgrades, it broadens the choice of strategy, rather than giving stats to increase what you already do(e.g. an item with armor and mr would never be purchased by Janna).

My first 2 ideas for the enchantment revolve around 2 common roles as a support: soaking damage as a beefy frontline, or scuttling the fray disabling enemies and buffing allies.

#First enchant: Knight sightstone. Grants 5% damage reduction when near ally champions, up to 20% damage reduction. Additionally , autoattacks deal bonus physical damage equal to 150% the champion health regen per 1 second.

#Second enchant :Mage Sightstone. Each time a cc is applied to an enemy champion, or a buff to an ally , the champion gains a 2 second 20% movement speed buff. Additionally, autoattacks deal bonus magic damage equal to 150% your mana regen per 1 second.

Thoughts?

I don't even need to read the OP to upvote this, buff sight stone.

It doesn't matter how bad or great the OP ideas are, buff sight stone.

I didn't make myself clear enough: buff sight stone.

I agree that sighstones need some buff.

I don't know about the enchants you posted, but I absolutely love the versatility they added to Smite, and would love to see a defensive/support line in the same mindset.

What you don't like about them? I don't want to be inquisitive, but I'd like to hear more opinions.

My goal was to propose enchants that didn't give just raw stats , but promoted the playstyle of a champion allowing the support to choose what item to pick to a degree.

Let me make an example, if you could pick Juggernaut and Magus on Sightstone, you would always pick juggernaut on Braum, and magus on Janna.

But with those enchant you actually can pick your item according to your playstyle. If you want to soak damage , you just pick knight, stand your ground, and take hits as the fight goes down. If you want to be a mobile cc machine, you pick Mage and skirt around the edge.

For example, Thresh is fairly versatile, and in different games could thrive with either of those enchantments.

So, back to my question: do you dislike those particular enchantments, or the fact they aren't like the Machete enchantment (i.e stats and steroid)? I repeat, I don't want to be inquisitive, just curious.

... "I don't want to be inquisitive."

I don't think that word means what you think it means.

Ah, ok.

It has a meaning closer to "nosy" then.

In English, inquisitive is commonly understood to just means curious, or questioning.

Your English is better than my Italian, so who am I to judge?

EDIT: Also apparently better than my English: Inquisitive-"unduly curious about the affairs of others; prying."

autoattacks deal bonus physical damage equal to 150% the champion health regen per 1 second.

Must have Mundo item (note, his ult heals by providing insane health regen)

Don't wanna spoil your fun but, you cannot purchase those enchantments unless you share a lane. You need to gain gold through the support item mechanics to buy it. Like, damaging people with spellthief , executing minions with relic, etc.

This would make Mundo support a thing. 5% of max health as regen... if he ends up with just 1k health, that's 50HP, which would be +75 damage. I could see a Mundo starting as support, rushing this, and then rotating toplane to switch with a Kayle or something like that who works better as a support.

Knight Devout1 votes

But doesn't Mundo already has 70 Bonus AD? Plus, it would take quite a while to unlock the gold for the item through the support item mechanic. Going toplane as a level 8 mundo against a level 11?

Rock Rockburgh2 votes

So he's already got 70 bonus AD-- sure, let's go ahead and double it. Once he changes lanes, his new opponent will have to play defensively despite the level advantage because his ult gives him so much kill potential now. He will always win a one-on-one trade unless he plays terribly or the old toplaner fed. You're giving Mundo ADC levels of damage every time he pops his ult. Twelve seconds is more than enough for a teamfight, and with just a bit of CDR he can easily drop the cooldown below a minute.

This Mundo will become extremely difficult to engage on unless you have an extremely CC-heavy composition, because he not only heals so quickly as to negate a significant portion of damage taken, he gains massive amounts of damage when he does! On top of that, he'll still get a small amount of bonus damage from this just due to his natural regeneration. Red potions will become valuable offensive items for supports. The whole concept is just so ridiculous that it would be almost impossible to balance.

True. Then don't factor hp5 from spells, consumables** and jungle buff.**

Solved.

By the way , thanks a lot for pointing out another flaw: the jungle buffs regen are really strong. I don't mind something like, idk, Warmog passive as it breaks in combat, and even if a support deals 200 physical damage with his first basic attack (assuming he doesn't get hit , thus entering combat, while approaching an enemy champion, but , say, a ranged support who gets a blue buff (it happens, for example if you need to secure a kill on a ganking jungler to save your adc from death) would gain a massive spike in damage on autoattacks, something like 40 magic damage on hit. A lulu with blue buff and Spellthief would become almost stronger than her adc with autoattack damage early on. Still, I'm ok with the chalice of harmony interaction,as a manaless support is really weak , and if he/she becomes a treat only due to a little on-hit magic damage it means you seriously fucked up that engage. A manaless Lulu that kills a Zed just because she has 10-20 magic damage on-hit(at level 18 , manaless and with Crucible manafont) is not something that would happen frequently.

As I previously stated, the philosophy behind the damage scaling with regeneration is not of increasing the offensive value of supports, but rather to convert a part of the gold spent in regeneration items toward combat stats, as hp5/mp5 aren't the best stats for teamfights. However, they shouldn't be a viable build path to build offensive. Just a little incentive for supports to build, say, Aegis of The legion and retain some damage . Actually, 150% of hp1 NOT hp5 is not even that big. It would even make sense if the % of health/mana regen scaled with levels, being stronger at level 18.

I think that red sight stone w.e its called is pretty lame and i forget dont buy it 11/9 times ;l

something like your idea... rather somethin similar to it would be a better upgrade

i dont like mage sightstone for reasons... whynot just let it be tenacity mana regen scalings -cringe- name..... -cringe- knight sightstone not called knightstone.. -cringe-

Knight Devout1 votes

Mana regen scalings , and health regen scalings, aren't there because you are supposed to build health or mana regen , but simply to give you a little something back for your health regen and mana regen? Why?

BECAUSE HEALTH REGEN AND MANA REGEN SUCK DURING THE FIGHT, and are only good for prolonged siege. And even there, unless you have baron, it's hard to appreciate the impact of health regen, most of the time you are better backing and getting full in the fountain. A little similar to how Braum has a really bad scaling on Q, but has at least that little that.

And Knightstone is pun/10 .

Oh, I don't like tenacity on mage, the goal is making the support able to chase or flee even faster.
