Your Placements and Ranking

I was thinking after reading this post http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/n3f5kn7V-as-a-diamond-silver-elo-is-surprisingly-hard that maybe the placement matches you play aren't really doing everyone justice.

Instead of being placed based on your w/l with teammates, why not get placed based on your individual skill?

10 Games of 1 vs 1.

Low ELO starts by playing high ELO and works his way down by 10th game. (Bronze plays Plat)

Sure, this is missing the whole team fighting aspect and warding, receiving/giving ganks, etc... I'm sure someone here has an idea to test that as well and I'd love to read it in the comments below, but wouldn't this help place people in proper divisions to start and alleviate some of the headaches of having completely unskilled players matched with you?

1v1? No champion is balanced to 1v1. Some will be so insanely unfair and some will be basically a fancy looking minion. I main Nami, an aggressive squishy back line support; to have a hope of not being placed in Bronze V every season I'd have to practice the OP flavor of the month instead, and it'd have no actual reflection on the skill I would exhibit in Ranked after I get placed (cuz I'd never play that champ again).

Ranking people on individual skill is an extremely hard thing to do when this isn't an individual's game; the only statistic that matters is whether you can secure the Nexus kill for your team (sometimes giving up CS, objectives, deaths, kills, gold, damage, healing etc. is how you secure the win).

too many variables. A player could be really good laning and 1v1ing but could be straight dog shit in team fights and the rest of the game or with jungle pressure. Can't base your skill off of one part of the game when your rating is equated on being good at ALL aspects of the game.
