Why do people feel entitled to the support's champ choice?

I don't typically see this done for any other role, but I play support, and people keep on telling me what to play! Suggestions are fine but please don't get mad when I don't wanna play Thresh!

Because ADC/support synergy is one of the more important things in the game.

The ADC doesn't really care what their toplaner is, just as long as they're beefy and can keep them off of them. They're not going to notice a difference between an Ornn and a Malphite - by the time the ADC has to care they do basically the same thing. But if you compare something like Sona or Soraka, you suddenly have a vastly different lane effectiveness.

But even as a support, your specific ADC doesn't matter as much. Leona's still gonna do Leona things, regardless of whether her support is a Vayne or a MF. But that Vayne could suddenly be very screwed if that Leona decides to be a different support - one less able to peel her.

Also, I assume a huge amount is people being sick and fucking tired of mage "supports" that take ring, rush Luden's, and fuck up 90% of the farm and steal 80% of what they don't fuck up.

As an ADC main myself... As long as you're picking something that works with your ADC/Team then I don't care what you play.

Picking MissFortune Ezreal Fiddlesticks Lux Veigar Velkoz Teemo when you have a hypercarry ADC like Vayne Twitch Tristana Kaisa is stupid and is not helping your team at all.

Picking passive supports like Janna, Soraka when you have a Draven, Lucian, MF as your ADC seems pointless also.

So Fiddlesticks with item 3116 that can fear and carry and slow a whole team with a crow protecting the hyper Carry so he can solo the whole team is bad???

Rengar Zed Khazix Ahri jumps at the adc…. fear then slowed.

Rammus crow or fear stops the ball...

Udyr run at the adc…. fear / tracker beams slow

While your argument for these supports do make sense, they all have massive drawbacks that makes them the support that ADC's hate Fiddlesticks i dont have a problem with, he is similar to supports like nami and janna (though more offensive) Rengar Zed Khazix Ahri are the reason people complain so much, all of these rely on snowballing and, as a support with limited gold, wont. Sure they may win a 2v2 at level 6, but thats it. If the game is any later than 20 minutes these become dead weight OR They play as a full assassin, fighting the ADC for farm and when fights do happen, "jumps at the adc", which likely means the death of your ADC and all kills going to the "support". Which as i said, is the same problem as support mages Rammus Udyr have the same issue, their kit just isnt designed for a support. Rammus aside from his small taunt, doesn't provide much help for the carry, as he isnt enough of a threat to the ADC, whereas someone like Leona or Alistar have stronger engages and cc, letting them stick to a carry more, entirely outclassing Rammus As for Udyr any peel support should be able to stop him from reaching a carry and he would be an easy target due to him being entirely melee

Alistar when he goes to headbutt smash. If you crow you will silence the smash and he will only get the headbutt off. Its mild to hard to land. But funny. Once you get it down,(save the crow instead of poking) you can cancel his early game and late game make him look dumb and get a free kill.

Leona this one is a lot harder. when she drives on the adc I run to fear, crow, drain the adc. I can kill or zone them out from the whole fight. But the adc has to have some skills to not get minion agro and we can win the trade a lot. After 6 you have to let them push and ult the adc. the reason to let them push is because if it goes bad you are close to your turret. This also give less room for the jungle to gank.

Plus I never argued for anyone but fiddle. I loving playing fiddle with hyper carries or crit adcs. You can control the waves to let them get easy farm. But what do I know I just started rank with a 75% win rate on fiddle and 100% win rate on brand. Just point out the incorrect assume fiddle was a bad support(he is picked in pros in Asian counties). Please quote me where I talked about anyone but fiddle.

As a support main, Janna and Soraka can both be terrifying aggressive picks if the matchup allows. Level 1 Janna can put a huge fuckin dent in the ADC’s health bar with just a W and basic attack. And Soraka poke is nothing to sneeze at.

I personally am not a fan of playing either, but I am often caught off guard when I have to lane against a diamond Janna main. They’re pretty terrifying.

I’d also argue that picking a mage support with a hyper carry is fine... Supports aren’t your babysitters. If a hypercarry gets a mage support and proceeds to crush lane because of the kill pressure it provides they have the means to pretty much steamroll a game.

ADC mains need to stop acting like they need to constantly be peeled for and caudled though. A lot of the responsibility is on you to position well in fights— not expect a support to bail you out when you make a mistake.

I agree. There are many times where I (a support main myself) have realized that my ADC is not our win condition, and I will roam and make cross-map plays with other members. Putting pressure in lane can create huge advantages especially with scalling carries. With that being said...

No matter how well an ADC positions there are certain champions that have to be peeled off of the ADC. Most assassins and divers fall into this category. An MF can position perfectly and still get hopped on my a Zed. And if you are busy trying to output damage yourself, your ADC will get blown up and suddenly its a 4v5 and a lost teamfight.

Draven/Janna is nuts though. Shield with spinning axe is 180 damage at level 1 per axe auto.

I disagree heavily with Fiddlesticks. His Q fear is great as anti-peel, and his E provides harassment, forcing bad trades with the opponent. He can also soak damage and heal it back with W.

because adcs are spoiled children and they believe that you should be their slave

no matter which adc im working with im going to pick Alistar or Leona and roam shit ton, im not your slave or peebitch

I'd appreciate more sensible support options, too, typically by veteran supports; tired of seeing Xerath, Kog'maw, Sylas and other non-supports...

CloakAndGrenade1 votes

Xerath can harass efficiently in lane and with his passive and his CC he isn't that item dependant. Assuming he's a good Xerath, he can make a find support.

I wholeheartedly mourn for you and give you my best well wishes if you've had to deal with a Kog or Sylas support. Jesus man... that sounds awful.

Well, I'll say the Xerath SOUNDED confident, and did well early, but soon the table flipped on him.

Sylas did not help early game, but we did win that game, fortunately. The Kog'maw...pretty much fed himself and the ADC (Ashe I think?), even when I had a solid early game as Veigar Mid...

Xerath's kit makes him better support than Zyra for example, yet Zyra is traditionally played support

boricCentaur12 votes

Its not entitlement there trying to work with you its called team work. Support is the role is tied to the adc you shouldn't pick fucking brand with a kog, support is also supposed to help the team so picking taric when you already have two tanks and your adc is lucian is really stupid. The most common support pick I see people complain about is lux on there team and there is a good reason she shouldn't be picked most of the time and picking her since fucks the team comp.

The only annoying thing for me about support is that everyone else wants to play whatever they want, regardless of team comp, and then wants the support to fill the gap... Oh hey we have an assassin top, an assassin mid, and assassin jungle- GO TANK SUPPORT.

Yah, cuz that 2 levels down, 2 items behind support will be able to tank the entire enemy team...

Madjack011 votes

That's one of risks that comes with playing in a duo lane. I'm pretty sure there are also supps who demand certain adc champs because of synergy (though this is just an assumption). I guess though that this doesn't occur as often because of two things: firstly, supports are often not as dependent on adc choice as adcs are on the supp choice. Secondly, supps are seen as a more adaptable member with the subjective element that they are augmentative to the adc instead of their own champ.

Edit: what the guy above me said while I was typing ;( Edit2: I still remember a time when people screamed for a tank in their games (mostly top or jungle)

Saianna1 votes

because supports in this game are just ADC slaves. This whole class operates on faulty mechanics, but Riot doesn't fix and all "tru tru supports" were already brainwashed and they believe that supporting really means being nothing more than disposable utility bag for the team.

Now when non-support players come in into the role, they just don't accept that idea of playing support as Riot wants. So you often see mages playing as pseudo-supports. It's just crappy system.

Regarding your problems: just pick whatever you want. Don't listen to them, or even be boulder and tell them what they have to pick, cause why not :P

Because people think that the support is the adc's waterboy in low elo and don't recognize all of the support's other jobs and the decisions the support has to make over the course of the game. By that logic, the low elo player assumes that the support should be subject to the will of the adc and all of their peers who are also "Real champions". In all but the highest elos, you can't expect everyone on a team to know about much less understand the myriad of decisions a support has to make over the course of the game, and yes, that can mean leaving your adc alone and doing something else for very extended periods of time while spam pinging him "Fall back" and "Danger" every time he wants to 1) not wait for the wave and 2) feed the enemy vayne / leo
